Think this was posted the other day but Peaches is probably the best person to answer questions on this. I seem to recall Treacle Tart did either LL or the Cambridge Diet, which is similar.

No surprises if you've ever read my posts that I'm not a fan but make sure you really do thorough research into the pros and cons of following the plan. There's some great impartial advice out there.

It was done by lawrence L bowen wife and discussed on lorraine kelly this am. It is not to be done to lose a few pounds. It is more fore obese people. She lost 5 stone on it and she is now a size 12. It should be followed with your Dr being aware for health checks. I think it is based on having 500 cal a day but it does meet your nutritional needs.,.

    ? OMG 500 kcal a day ?

Thats extreme. Im just not sure that its healthy ( but then again neither is being overweight )

I could loose between 4 and 5 stone so i know i would be accepted onto the program im just worried that the fast results wouldn't be able to be maintained x

A family member of mine did LL and she now yo yos between a size 8 and 18, she is ok doing the diet,

but as soon as she eats food when she is finished she balloons!

She went to her doctor and was told to stop doing it as the low calorie can cause muscle problems, especially as she gains weight again.

Im afraid the 5 people I know who have done it have put the weight back on as soon as they eat actual food!

But there are also people who manage to keep the weight off i guess?

That seems to be the main issuse of my friends.

Because you dont eat proper food, rather a powder that you can have a soup, shake, a muffin etc, as fod as their bodies get real food they really struggle.

Im afraid they have all given up and turned to eating more healthily and doing more excersize.

Sadly there is no reason at all why anyone would find it easy to maintain the loss, even with the "counselling" that's offered. There are many, many people who've done it from Hitched (I would guess between 20 and 30) and I know one who's kept the weight off. One. Others have suffered long-term ill-health as a result of the diet.

Really do suggest you pop over to O/T later today and ask Peaches and Treacle Tart to tell you their experiences. I've seen Cleocatra around a couple of times lately and she might be able to help also.

Essentially it's not a long term plan. Everyone goes into the plan with the aim of losing the weight THEN eating sensibly to maintain the weight loss. In reality though, it's very difficult to adjust when you've not been eating normally for a while (obviously LL themselves would dispute this though so again, do your own research). If you learn to eat normally AND do exercise as well (both of which are key to maintaining a healthy weight) then you will lose weight.

The cynical side of me also feels that LL tend to wheel out their success stories at this time of year to capitalise on the New Year resolution market.

If you need structure to your diet then Weight Watchers is a good choice. If you're confident to go it alone, then check out the 'eat less, move more' posts.

Kat-If you really want some support whilst you loose, I would reccomend weight watchers

I have been doing it since October 1st and I don't feel like I am on a diet, which I guess is good for the long term.

My eating habbits have defintely changed though, and it has given me more energy to excercise.

I would reccomend it, it is £17.95 per month on monthly pass and you get free access to the e-source with that, which gives you recipes, an online points tracker, a weight tracker etc

I have lost 2 stone so far (since october 1st), with another 5 to go.
