Greetings - better late than never!

HEmmaH, 17 August, 2012 at 10:49 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hello everyone,

I've been lurking around Hitched now for a while. I previously summoned up the courage to post on a few threads but now I think it's actually about time that I introduced myself properly! My boyf and I live in Manchester, he's a local and I'm originally from Northern Ireland. We're getting married next May in Derry, in the Beech Hill hotel.

Erm, I'm 32 and we've been going out for over 7 years now so it was really about time!

Anyway, not to bore you anymore, but just wanted to say hello properly. I am amazed at how much you all seem to know about weddings!!

E

Hi there from another Emma ? Congratulations on your engagement and enjoy the planning. How far have you got? Ours is June but so far we've just got venue booked and church provisionally booked and my dress will be sorted by the end of the weekend. We've got ideas for most bits but getting them in to practice requires some work!

    Congratrualtions and welcome to Hitched.

I never got round to introducing myself properly, so you're doing better than me so far Smiley smile

Lovely that you get to marry at home. I'm from South Wales and OH is from North East England, where we live now, and we're getting married up here Smiley sad

This place really is a fountain of knowledge and everybody loves to help where they can. Good luck with your planning Smiley smile

    Thanks all!

Kyanya - We've booked the venue, registrar and celebrant (Humanist weddings aren't legal in Northern Ireland yet booooo). I've ordered my dress, but only because it was being discontinued, booked my hairdresser (my mum's, hopefully I won't end up with a mum bouffant!) and we know what suits we want for the men but the shop said we were too early to order them. I also bought a pair of very high shoes which will probably never be worn but are too beautiful to send back! Oh, and the BM dresses are about to be ordered this weekend once I get to measure the last one!

Oooh, I love Humanist weddings. Went to one a couple of years ago and it really rang true with me. We can't find a Humanist celebrant who will do ours in Spain for a reasonable price, but our ceremony will definitely be in the Humanist spirit.

    Congratulations and welcome!
