I found my dress today!

knickers_twickers, 10 October, 2009 at 18:33 Posted on Planning 0 27

Went to a lovely bridal shop with mum and sister (Lincolnshire brides I would def recommend Belle and Bouquet in Wellingore, they were fab).

Tried on lots of dresses and was starting to feel a bit like I couldn't see myself in any of them! Then I tried on a couple and saved ones I really liked, the main one being a lace fishtail one. But then I tried on a dress and it just felt right, it wasn't what I thought I'd have gone for (and the colour bit on it wasn't what I'm having) but I fell in love with the dress. That narrowed it down, I re-tried the others and they weren't right, then I tried the lace fishtail one on again and although it was a gorgeous dress I just kept thinking about the other one and how you can wear a fishtail type dress to a ball etc but I won't ever get the chance to wear this one again!

And then I just wanted to put the other one back on! And then not take it off 😄.

In the shop it was in pearl/champagne and on the pic it's in white/claret (but don't try to change it as the colours come out totally the wrong 😄 the pearl comes out an awful yellow!). Anyway I'm having it in pearl with aubergine trim (which is the same colour as what other designers call vintage lavender - it's not on the colour options there anyway).

And this is the dress

http://www.morilee.com/DressDetail.aspx?C=1&D=2177&P=1

just imagine the trim in a dark lavender type colour, acutally just found a colour chart which is pretty accurate http://www.magicmomentscollections.com/gallery.php?item_id=5172&n=2 it's under satin and chiffon and called aubergine.

What you think? I really don't like the claret colour on the model but without that in the shop it looked really lovely so I'm hoping it does with my colour too!

Had a look at the link and to be honest if that is the dress you have chosen, it will date within months on your wedding photo's, colours on dresses date quickly.

Hi honesty - why does it matter if it will date? are the wedding photos meant to look fashionable years later or am I missing something?

Well I think its a beautiful dress and so do several other people so there's no need to be rude - unless you're trying to be offensive. I see this is your first post on here honesty - how is your planning going?

Thanks woo-woo ?. I agree, all dresses will date, fashions change, that's the way of the world. And then in 20 years time they come back round again and I'll be on trend again ?.

I love my dress, it will look perfect with the colour scheme etc.

I think your choice is lovely, you will be made up when it comes into shock. Its seems this next years colours are all lavender, purples etc.

I had the mori lee bridemaids dresses and they are lovely

With ref to honesty, don't all wedding dresses date? Its called fashion, I would not be seen dead in some of the dresses you see in the 80's/90's but that was the fashion then and you choose the dress which is in fashion now.

Has the troll gone back under her stone and bridge?????? ?

Do dresses really ever date? I think if you like a style you like a style! lol

And in ten years time you'll probably still like the style Smiley smile

Thanks ladies ?. I have the image of how it will all look in my mind and it's perfect - just what I want so I am really happy with my choice. Thanks for all the lovely comments.

2 comments and gone though? Really the standard of trolls is rubbish at the moment! ?

Personally, I think if someone is asking "what the forum thinks of something", they should expect positive and negative comments and accept it as an opinion.

I absolutely agree - but there is a way of putting a negative across constructively as opposed to just being bitchy and

"Well they are at least supposed to look nice, but with that dress no chance"

is just being nasty I think.

I agree and as it happens, they were a troll, so their opinion doesn't count anyway.

But there have been previous posts where people have asked opinions and it seems if they don't get positive comments, everyone kicks off.

Just because i do not have 1000 posts like all you others, and i have a life other than being on here all the time posting and giving out my life story, it seems all the members here seem to do is say how lovely things are when in fact like most of you looking at things are really saying OMG look at that and laughing then saying how lovely things are. Well all i said was the dress is not to my taste and would date! Fact!

    Oh come on!

why don't you go back to whichever rock you crawled under and stop being so rude to people. You didn't just say you didn't like it, which would be a fair opinion - you were being nasty. Fact!

Ohh and "having a life" is to just pop on once to be nasty? Nice! I wonder if you're as tactful in real life?! Maybe people might be abit nicer to you on here if you posted something about yourself...not "giving out my life story" ...even just a 'hello'

Good luck with your planning, can't see you getting a lot of help on here!
