O/T Do you Suffer???

FIONATS73, 18 March, 2009 at 09:36 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hi Ladies,

Just a quick question, I went for my recall on my smear last night. I think she was slightly rough, I was on the injection for a while and then moved on to cazette the mini pill so don't acutally have periods. But when I did have them I had major pains, which on more than one occasion would send me home from work. Then pain is not constant just like a stabbing pain, like a period pain but damm annoying when it happens. My pain level has increased after suffering last year with gallstones, as the pains where like a period pain x a million! I have not had a bleed but the pain is still coming this morning, is this right?

This could just be a reaction to her being 'slightly rough'. They shouldn't be like that at all - did you say anything?

No medical knowledge but if I were you I'd want to know why this has happened. I would either phone NHS Direct for some general advice or call your surgery and ask to speak to your doctor.

Oh and have some chocolate and a ?

    Hope you feel better soon.

I had a smear on Monday, and it was the first time I'd ever had one which hurt, and did leave me with cramps for a few hours afterwards.

I had a mirena coil inserted a few years ago which left me in absolute agony for about 72 hours after it was inserted, but I was told it was "normal to have some cramps", although this was the worst pain I have ever experienced.

After suffering almost continual abdominal cramps for 18 months they finally agreed to take it out, at which point the consultant acknowledged that he may have inserted it incorrectly! Thanks for that!

So I would say to definitely get this checked out and don't be fobbed off by anybody telling you that this is "normal".

Laura Lee - don't be put off just by my experience. Lots of women find them a lifesaver, and I'm sure I would have been fine if it had been inserted correctly. I think mine was a very isolated incident - I just wanted to get across that if you think something's not right, don't be fobbed off.

Thanks ladies. Sorry did not get back on yesterday, went straight to bed until Holly our dog decided she wanted her tea. To be fair she had cuddled up to me to get me warm. Then h2b came home, stayed on couch wrapped up in the quilt. Went to the doctors and spoke to him, about my concerns. I think it was a cosidence about the pains and the smear, I did have pains after it occured on Tuesday night. Then felt OK ish yesterday morning, when I felt like an ice block and had radiator on full and coat on in work and still pains and felt ?. Thought I better do something it , Doctor says it was a 24 hour bug which I picked up as I felt sick and had the other (sorry to be descriptive). Feel loads better this morning and even kept some toast down late last night. Wrapped up today long boots and jeans and a thick top.

    Thanks again ladies
