Maldives honeymoon - to book a package or separate flights + accommodation?

Jenna, 17 of January of 2021 at 00:20 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 5
Hi everyone,

I’m after some advice please.
It’s some time off yet, but we’re looking to go to the Maldives for our honeymoon in February 2022.
I’d love to experience the over-water bungalows, but they come at a price!
I’m just wondering whether anyone has booked flights and accommodation separately to make it more affordable?
Eg. We book to stay in a villa on land for say, 4 nights then spend 2 nights in a water villa.
I’m not sure package deals offer this flexibility? It seems like it’s all in or nothing! Haha.
Thanks in advance Smiley smileJen.

I use travel counsellors for a lot of our holidays and will for our honeymoon too. They’re so flexible but booking with them is like a package so if one part gets cancelled we’d be covered for it all like a package. Kind of best of both I feel and it’s not more expensive either.

We booked our honeymoon with Trailfinders. We're doing a multi-centre trip so they've been very flexible and booked stays in different places for us. It's booked as a package but there's still flexibility. Also with how everything's been with Covid it's been so much easier having it all booked together and with a company who'll take care of everything for us. Booking with them was so easy. We told them what we wanted, and our budget, and they did the rest.

We do quite a bit of independent travel (well, pre COVID!), but for something like the Maldives I’d definitely stick with a package for peace of mind and financial security. As the other contributors have said going through someone who builds a package to suit you is a good option as it’s the best of both worlds.

    Hi Jenna,

Combining a few nights in a beach villa then a few nights ending on a high in a water villa is a great way to have a varied stay and saves on cost too. I have booked many honeymooners to Maldives and would love to help find the right island to suit you and your partner and within budget.

I am a registered business with Hitched called Hedge Travel specialising in honeymoons.
