I'm sorry I'm new to flashing and so the pic might be big... advice on this welcomed! This is me trying on my dress in the shop! After I agreed to buy, they didn't allow photos before. It was from an outlet store so nice bargain price sadly I have no idea who the designer was.
I was in love with Maggie Sottero dresses and we might've sprung for one of the cheaperish ones but this actually ended up flattering me more and seeming more 'me' and it meant we could afford a band I didn't expect to like anyhting in the outlet store, I didn't even like this dress until it was on. So any b2b who haven't bought there dress yet open your mind to an outlet store and let friends/family pick out things to try! My sister chose this one... she also recommended my venue! This shes got a knack for this haha
I'm very short and standing on a box in this pic, at least being quite a plain skirt it'll be easier to shorten than those lacy maggie dresses (although they are gorgeous! I was concerned about how they'd look shortened for me... I am shorter than the short version of their dresses)
Don't have a full-length picture of me in it, but here we go...I've also done some DIY alterations so it's a bit of a before-and-after.
On the model:
And here's some detail shots on me, post-modifications. The hem does actually touch the ground even in my heels as I'm only 5'4", I had to crouch weirdly to take the picture so it lifted up a little.
I said yes to the dress this weekend! The dress I ordered was completely ivory, while I think the ones in the photos are ivory over champagne.
Here is another girl wearing it. I don't remember the train being quite this long, so I think she must be pretty short.
And me, with the sales associate. It was so funny because every single one of us went in saying "No ruffles!". Then the sales associate asked which one I wanted to try on first and I said this one, and everyone loved it. I thought I wanted lace on the train but every time I tried on the dresses I thought I wanted they just paled in comparison to this.
So I went completely against what I thought I wanted. I had my heart set on a ball gown 'puffy' type one but I tried some on and I looked like a right melon. ... so here is my vintage type black lace which doesn't really come across well in the pic but so soft. And please excuse the white bra!!!
I just spent a whole hour looking through all the gorgeous dresses starting from way back in 2012! It's amazing how the dresses look so much better on the real brides than the models! Here is mine but it's the model pics and I really don't think it does it justice at all!
This is mine - in a million years I wouldn't have thought I would go for this style - I was thinking slinky with lace and sleeves! I loved it though and got it in a sample sale so was £450
I've really enjoyed looking at this thread. I'm not brave enough to post a pic of me in the dress - it was 4 sizes too small. But here's a pic of it - so sassi Alice. I don;t know if the fabric really shows up on here but it's the most gorgeous laser cut organza in a daisy pattern. It's the same as the Molly dress that another hitcher wore in 2014. I'm adding a few inches to the length to make it ballerina at the front, and a bolero in the same fabric with 3/4 length sleeves.
I said yes to the dress today! A gorgeous Justin Alexander, and an absolute bargain! Just needs the shoulders and hem shortening but apart from that it fit me almost perfectly!
DejaEntendu, I tried your dress on yesterday. It is lovely and you've got yourself an absolute bargain!
I just wanted to revive this thread because I finally said yes to the dress yesterday! I've gone for the Wtoo Pippin dress in Rose Gold (same as the pic).
Apologies for my lanky hair in the photo, I got caught in the rain before my appointment! Oh and ignore the hoop lining at the bottom of the dress, it obviously won't be like that once it all fits properly.
That's a lovely dress, really unusual. I am torn between two dresses at the moment so I am going to have another shop around. Hopefully I can post that I said yes to the dress on here soon too! X
