Wedding hair advice please!

kerrie_jay, 26 August, 2015 at 12:40 Posted on Planning 0 16

Hi guys,

New here and just wanted to get some thoughts from people on how to decorate my hair for my rustic winter wedding in Jan 2016. I have crazy curly hair and it sits just below my shoulders. My H2B absolutely loves it down so I would like to keep it as I wear it normally (he says he wants to marry the person he wakes up to everyday not a completely different person!). However I would like to decorate it somehow but probably won't be wearing a veil as H2B not too keen on them. We are having a rustic wedding with pine cones and ferns, hessian, navy blue and tweed suits/waistcoats (he is a farmer), so I was thinking having possibly a delicate flower crown or strands of flowers (like daisy chains but not daisies) through my hair.

Can you tell me what you think please? Will try and post a picture of my hair for you!

Thanks in advance!

Your hairs lovely. I was thinking a flower crown before I got to that bit of the post or if you wanted something smaller a comb made the same. Could match your flowers etc.

do you have your dress yet.

I think flowers would look lovely. Would dried ones work as you're getting married in winter?

Thanks brides! That was the other question as to whether dried, fake or real flowers? I'm off to see my florist on Saturday so I will ask her what she thinks. Going to have it matching in some way to my flowers and theme.

I'm off to look at dresses on 19th September with my 2 BMs and my mum. One of my friends is a dressmaker so she is going to make it for me. I have some ideas but just need to try on shapes to make sure they suit before she comes up with a design. We only got engaged July 11th so it's all a bit manic trying to organise everything in 6 months!

I'm thinking something similar to the top of this dress...

Going into something like the bottom of this one but maybe mermaid style before going into the flowy bit...

Found some pictures on pinterest, will post below. Just not sure how to attach them if they are just running through my hair rather than in a crown.

Or do I go for a hair vine?

Can't find any pictures of flowers running through curly hair - they all seem to be straight or wavy!

You can always put a comb on it to give it some extra hold.

I looked at this site, though ultimately went a completely different way.

Have a look at some of the flower crowns FlashFloozy has in her etsy shop https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/Flashfloozy?ref=l2-shopheader-name

I ordered 3 of their crowns; one for me, one for my Maid of Honour and one for my sister.

They are gorgeous! Exactly what I wanted.

The flowers are made of out paper, but they look quite realistic.

She can do custom orders to, so just send her a message with an idea of what you want and she should be able to do it for you.

She can even make them as a circlet (basically just a full circle with no adjustment thing) if you would prefer. That's what I did as I didn't want the whole ribbon thing going on. But it stays on your head fine! The base of it has wire in it, so you can just bend it a little to fit it on your head better and it should stay there. But you can always just bobby pin it on if you're worried about it falling off.

    Hey

A friend of mine with very similar hair just had some Gypsophila in hers and it looks lovely, it was weaved in.

I dont have a pic of hers but found this on google which is similar.

Thanks MrsLBtoB - that's the sort of flower crown I was thinking but I won't have my hair up so hoping it doesn't drag down the top of my hair and leave a huge bouffant underneath it! I think I prefer the idea of weaving them through my hair but I'm definitely not 100% decided on this. Going to see my florist tomorrow so hoping she can advise a bit too.
