Christmas traditions as newly married couple without children

Charlene82, 14 October, 2013 at 20:47 Posted on Just Married 0 6

Hello, ive been thinking about Christmas as it will be our first as Mr and Mrs! and i want it to be special. we r going to my husbands family day on Christmas day, but on boxing day it will be our own day, we were thinking of going to our wedding venue as they do Christmas dinner! which im very excited about!

I was wondering if anyone had any traditions they do over Christmas session they could share, we are going to make gingerbread people christmas eve and decorate and give to family on Christmas day, but i was wondering if there was any more couples without children have. i didnt have any really while growing up so would like some before we have children and possible more child related when we have children in few years.

i have few ideas-

watch Christmas movie Christmas eve night

make special breakfast boxing day morning with table decorations etc

    Hi

I'm not sure if it counts as tradition, but there are a couple of things we always do (we do not yet have children)

We go to midnight mass (although it starts before midnight!) on Christmas eve, we always get up Christmas morning and make some breakfast along with a glass of bubbles and take it back to bed. We then get wrapped up downstairs, put a christmas film on and open our gifts to each other.

Things will just happen, you will do or say something that you end up repeating and a tradition will be started. Have fun on your day together.

Can I quick ask you Almost Mrs, what kind of things will you put in the box? It sounds like a lovely idea, but I'm not sure what would go into a box for me and OH.

My husband (*squeal - married in October*) and I will be having our first Christmas together as Husband and Wife.

I am beyond giddy at buying a card "To my Husband" - although I haven't found a nice one yet.

Husband has strict instructions of how much it will mean to me to get me one with Wife on the front teehee.

Sorry, off on a tangent there...

We wrap up warm each Christmas Eve and go out for a long walk. We lost his father and mother a few years ago and had a tree planted in their memory; we go up and see the tree, say a few words to them and then walk around the reservoir.

I'm still trying to find a pub on the route back that does mulled wine as I'd like to add that into the tradition - perhaps this year ail be the year!?!

Christmas films are also a must. If you go to family on Christmas Day and Boxing Day then make Christmas Eve your day, or swap it around to suit.

How lovely to go back to your wedding venue - I'd be very choked up if it were me xx
