Dress... to sell or not to sell...

Kentish Gal, 24 July, 2013 at 13:27 Posted on Just Married 0 3

I'm currently having a love affair with my dress, but the refurb work on the house and what I could buy with a few hundred quid means I'm seriously considering selling it. And anyway, I always planned to.

What did you decide to do, and why?

I only spent £160 on mine Smiley smile I thought I would sell it, but now I've changed my mind. My sister has bought me a special box with tissue paper to keep it in.

I don't really know why I'm keeping it! I'll never wear it again, but I can't bear to part with it.

Actually, I think it depends on your perspective in selling your wedding dress. For some, a wedding dress is an important souvenir they would like to keep. However, if you think it is useful to others and you can make money just by selling it. Sell it if you like Smiley smile

I washed mine myself & plan to cut it up and re-use it in other wedding related projects. Gonna save some of the satin for a christening gown (if I don't use it, can always give it to my sister's or friends for their kids). Other uses will be: cover the wedding pics album, cover the scrapbook album, cover the wedding memories box & I've a few other ideas but not sure yet of the feasibility of them. I decided not to re-sell it as it was very cheap and is out of season now so I doubt I'd even manage to sell it. Also, I was a bit weird with my dress - never felt much of an attachment until a few weeks before the wedding when my seamstress almost screwed it up & I just fell in love with it on the day itself so I'd hate to get rid of it.... Using it in stuff I'll always have will mean more to me!
