HELP! To Video or not to Video...

malim, 28 November, 2011 at 11:53 Posted on Just Married 0 21

So I need some advice from wedded experts - my fiance and i are in two minds about a wedding video - he and I are not that fussed about getting one however his parents and my parents are insisting we do! Another option is a homemade video shot by my bridesmaids boyfriend. What do you suggest I do? For those who got a video, have you watched it? is it worth all the expense/hassle of researching etc?

Really appreciate any thoughts or opinions..

Thanks

Micheline

I got one of the ushers to do the ceremony and the first dance. So glad I didn't bother with a professional one. You watch it once and then thats it. I just feel its a huge waste of money. I love my home made video!

The OH was dead against one but he gave in to me, and I compromised by shaving a bit from here and there budget wise to accomodate a VOG. When we received the video, the OH said he's never been so happy to be proven wrong - we LOVE the video and it brings back amazing memories, capturing bits that we missed on the day and conveying the day in a way that photos can't...we chose 5 songs for our video and hearing my entrance song makes the hairs on the OH's neck stand up when he watches it again, and seeing his lip wobble has made a few blub.

I would definitly go with a video, as you can capture more of the day and atmosphere...especially when you're spending so much money, you want to be able to re live it. Our friend had one and it was these http://www.oakleafproductions.com hope that helps ?

Discontinuing Dresses Do anyone know when dresses are discontinued from alfred angelo?? I want to wait to purchase my dress but I dont want to find out its been discontinued because its not very popular from what I have seen. Not very many brides have it. But the wedding dresses websites are always on hot sell, maybe you would get your favorite! www.eastbridal.com www.miniweddingdress.com www.weddingdressesgood.com www.wholesale-weddingdress.com

So pleased you're not instantly dismissing it! We saw some awful samples after we were married and it really pushed me to do something unique when I started my own company!

My Husband hated the idea, and I mean hated! He thought it's be like he was Peter Andre filming a ITV2 show with cameras following him around and didn't want it to intrude on our special day. Thankfully I managed to persuade him and we had some pro friends film our day and then I edited it. My Husband loved it so much he bought the web address and encouraged me to try and do it myself. If that's not a happy customer I don't know what is! Smiley winking OK, we don't watch our film every day (although his Mum pretty much does) but we get it out more than our wedding album! It was the best thing we did and is a brilliant way to relive our day whenever we want and I have even added it to our phones for instant access. I wouldn't be doing this full time if it wasn't something I was passionate about and I really do believe that, if you get the right company that suits you, you can have a really beautiful reflection of your day! It's not a replacement for photos, it should complement your photos. You get the wonderful bonus of audio with film and when a film is edited well it can really bring the wedding back to life. I also like hearing the vows and bits of the speeches again in our film. The photos have captures a look or a laugh and the video has the full joke, it's brilliant!

We got married twice - in UK and Thailand and had videographers at both weddings. Totally agreed with Mrs C - best money spent! It's great to watch the whole ceremony again coz I had absolutely no idea what was said there - I felt totally numbed. It was so weired watching myself from a different angle i.e. walking down the aisle, etc.

Still waiting for my Thai DVD - should receive it in the next week!

The quality of videographers like photographers vary alot and there are lots of different styles. Make sure your video doesn't end up full off wobbly shots and check their work before you book. We have our videos online for people to see for themselves. Our advice is choose someone who suits your style and that way they will capture your personalities. Happy Planning XX Laura Berry

You have to have a video if nothing else. Photos are great but a video is even better, and it doesn't need to be long. Thankfully one of our friends is a videographer, and so as a wedding present his company created our wedding video. Please use the link below, but if that doesn't work go to: www.youplusone.co.uk/09/video-mr-mrs-coupees-wedding

We're having a video, it was one of the first things we decided on as my sister regretted not having one on her wedding day. We're using Crystal Media Production who have been great so far. Website is www.crystalmediaproductions.co.uk. Hope that helps if you haven't already got one.

We are having something much more stylish and sophisticated than a standard wedding video. We got a good deal to have it filmed on 16mm movie film. ?

I didn't want a video, and then on the morning of the wedding found out my grandparents were really poorly and couldn't make it. My chief Bridesmaids partner charged up his video camera and did video of the whole day for us, which my grandparents have now got.

If it hadn't been for that we wouldn't have had one - I prefer looking at my professional pics which I was really pleased with, but I also understand why most people would want a video too.

You're spending all this time and money organising your special day - and the only things that you'll have to look back on in 20 years are the albums and the video.

It's most definitely worth it, especially to show the kids and grandkids in the future!

A wedding video is a great investment! If you go for a good quality one then you'll be able to watch a highlights version that will bring the emotion back of the day within a few minutes! My wife, cries everytime she watches ours!

A homemade, wobbly camera version isn't going to do your wedding memories any justice! Plus, as someone else has already said you'll watch it once then never look at it again! (And that's because the video isn't any good!)

My husband didn't want to have it filmed, but when my brother was unable to come to the wedding due to illness, my hubby agreed to having it filmed.

Best money we spent! It's captured lots of little things that we had already forgotten about or hadn't even seen. And my husband loves the trailer so much that on the day we got it, he watched it over and over for 4 hours.

I would highly recommend Iconic Image to anyone. Lee was so friendly and they blended in that well at the wedding, that my husband (novelty of saying that hasn't worn off yet!) didn't even notice the 2nd camera man!

Here is the trailer to my wedding film if you wanted to have a look http://vimeo.com/70625040

I'm getting married this September and I'm planning to rent a videographer for my wedding. I believed that when both couples are in their old times I think the best memories from their wedding would the videos. ?

OMG Micheline! YES video! it'll be so fun to show your grandkids and to look back on, all The Notebook-style!

I would suggest an app/service called Switchcam. Guests take & upload footage with an app and then SC edits it into a professional wedding video. Pretty cool stuff & it's what I'm planning on using.

Really though, no matter what make sure you get a wedding video. It'll be so pretty and fun to watch after!

Definitely wedding video!!! Although it does cost so much, it costs so much because its WORTH it. Anyone that doesn't get wedding video will regret it. I got married Dec 2012 and I spent ages and ages researching video and photography, it was so annoying and time consuming but it was well worth it in the end. Yes we watch our wedding video all the time. Whenever we have people over we put it on as entertainment and they love it.
