Did anyone have bridesmaid drama on their wedding day, and if so, how did you handle it afterwards?
One of my bridesmaids turned up late, then realised shortly before the ceremony that she'd forgotten her dress. She was still doing her hair while everyone else was ready to leave, and there was a scramble to try and find a solution, including her contacting guests who were already sitting in the church asking them to leave and collect her dress and she got my sister to start driving her to her house until I told them to come back as it would make us late to the wedding. She ended up wearing a crinkled dress from my wardrobe, Thankfully the ceremony wasn't delayed, but it caused a huge amount of stress on the morning and meant I missed out on the bridal reveal moment to the bridal party.
I know it wasn't because she disliked the dress, as I let the bridesmaids choose their own dresses and contributed towards the cost. She has apologised and says it was due to her ADHD and that it was a genuine mistake. I don't think it was malicious at all. She was brilliant throughout my hen do and I know she was upset about what happened.
Part of what has made it harder is that my other bridesmaid was incredibly organised, proactive and supportive throughout the day, constantly checking on me and helping where needed. It made me feel really cared for and actually strengthened our friendship. The contrast between the two experiences has been difficult not to notice.
What I'm struggling with is that since the wedding she hasn't seemed very proactive about repairing things, has taken a long time to reply to messages, and seems to feel that because it was her ADHD there wasn't really anything she could have done differently.
Has anyone been through something similar? Were you able to move past it, or did it change the friendship
