Free/discounted services required for last minute wedding due to terminal illness

Andrea, 2 December, 2024 at 03:23 Posted on Wanted 0 12
Hi
My partner of 18 years has been battling a T4 malignant tumour in his oesophagus over the past year. Many rounds of chemo, infections, a full stomach removal and partial oesophagus removal later and he's recently found 3 lumps. He was referred for a PET scan when ultrasound and CT scans were inconclusive.

We're devastated with the findings. The cancer has escaped the original site, grown and spread throughout his body. Palliative treatment is now the only option and he's been told he has months rather than years left.
Medical evidence proving the above can be provided to any suppliers serious about helping us out.
We've decided to get married and wanting the wedding asap whilst he's still feeling ok, have booked the ceremony for 4th January 2025. The ceremony room has been paid for. We've also booked a function room in the restaurant next door to the ceremony venue.
We're only having a small intimate immediate family only wedding - so 21 guests plus the two of us. We're based in Oldham, North Manchester. We're not having a evening party/DJ etc just drinks after the meal, hopefully with a live singer.
If any suppliers can donate or provide at reduced cost any of the following it would be hugely appreciated:
- Wedding Dress- Suit for the groom and best man- Rings- Flowers (we only need a small bridal bouquet, 2x bridesmaid bouquets and buttonholes for the groom, best man and man giving me away - happy for someone training to provide for the experience/portfolio)- Wedding Cake (only a small, one tier cake to provide 22-25 servings is required - happy for someone who does cakes as a hobby to provide).- Hair styling (for me and X2 bridesmaids)- Photography/Videography (happy for a student/amateur photographer/videographer looking for experience/portfolio content)- Table/Room decorations and centrepieces.- Live singer/band (or jukebox even) for 90-120 minutes after the meal.- Honeymoon accomodation (in the UK)
I expect this is a big ask, but if anyone who can provide any of the above is willing to help us out either gifting their service or offering a reduction it would make planning and affording our special and emotional day so much easier.
Thank you.

Andrea, I’m so sorry to hear about what you and your partner are going through. It’s incredibly moving that you’re creating this special day together despite the circumstances. While I can’t personally help with wedding services, I just wanted to say your post is a reminder of how important trusted local support is in every part of life. Whether it’s planning a wedding or even something practical like keeping a home safe through a Licensed inspected roof service TN , having reliable people to lean on makes all the difference. I truly hope some generous suppliers step forward to help make your day beautiful, meaningful, and as stress-free as possible. Wishing you both strength, peace, and a wonderful wedding celebration.

So given that due to our circumstances I was asking for wedding services to donate their time & service in order to help us out (of which many very kind, warm hearted individuals did do) in return for us giving them a shout out/tagging them/posting photos of the service they donated (IE flowers) on social media - am I correct in assuming that you are kindly offering to donate your time and service in coming to help us out in keeping our kitchen clean?
If so, Id be delighted to take up this kind offer as it would indeed help us out at this difficult time.

If however you are trying to use my post to try to promote your non-wedding related business and to try to cash in on the devastating situation my husband (and I) find ourselves in - then shame on you! I hope it is the former that you are offering, but suspect it's the latter.

I’m so sorry to hear about what you and your partner are going through. Wishing you both love and strength during this incredibly difficult time. While I can’t help directly with the wedding items, I wanted to mention that for anyone needing reliable home solutions, professional garage door installation can make a big difference in safety, security, and peace of mind. If you’re interested, you can check out their expert service for precise and safe installation. Wishing you all the best with your wedding plans and a beautiful day surrounded by family and love.

No idea why you have posted this on my post - my wedding was a year ago (indeed we have tried to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary today - as best we can given my husband is very poorly).

To use the post of someone in our situation to try to advertise your business (or the business of a friend or relative) and try to make out a professional garage door will give us "safety, security and peace of mind" is really scraping the barrell.
A new garage door is the very last of our priorities right now - is the company you're promoting offering us safety at this awful time to help us out and offering to install a door complementary?
if not, please delete your advertising from my post - kind, decent, warm-hearted people helped us out - they didn't try to take advantage and promote their businesses!

Banglarbhumi is an online land record portal launched by the Government of West Bengal. It allows citizens to check land records, property details, and ownership information online without visiting government offices.

Through this portal, users can access services like Khatian & Plot information, land maps, mutation status, and online land record applications. Banglarbhumi helps make land record management transparent, fast, and easy for property owners and buyers.

No idea who you are messaging or what you are on about, this is my post not yours and I haven't shared any of the nonsense that's been left on my post. This is my old post from 2nd December 2024 that I posted in the wanted section of hitch requesting free or discounted services for my short notice wedding that was arranged at short notice due to my partner getting a terminal cancer diagnosis.

Since then the replies to MY post have just been irrelevant spam/junk - first some roof inspection service (nothing to do with weddings); then a kitchen cleaning service (nothing to do with weddings); then a professional garage door service (nothing to do with weddings); then something to do with online land record portal launched by the Government of West Bengal (not relevant to weddings nor to someone who is a UK citizen) and finally your link to Delta executor official (which I've no idea what it is & no intention of clicking the link).
I got married. I'm not in need of wedding services anymore. My husband passed away 9 weeks ago - it's disgusting that scammers are preying on people on a wedding planning site and advertising on a post on which someone has poured their hearts out about their husbands illness.
Shame on you - now f**k off.

I am so sorry to hear what you and your partner are going through. Planning a wedding under these circumstances is incredibly difficult, and I truly hope you find the vendors you need to make January 4th a beautiful and loving day.

While I cannot help with flowers or photography, I wanted to offer a practical thought. If you are in Tennessee and need to clear out clutter at home before family arrives or handle cleanup after any preparation, you can easily book a dumpster rental service to keep things simple. Wishing you both a gorgeous wedding and as much peace and comfort as possible in the months ahead.

I don't know what is wrong with you people - no I DO NOT need a dumpster (or any of the other services complete !d!0t$ like you are bombarding my post with! If any of you had even the teeniest, tiniest working brain cells inside your heads, you would realise that:

A: This is a forum for WEDDING SERVICES (NOT - dumpsters, roofing services, kitchen cleaning, garage doors, west Bengal government services! etc etc).
B: My post is dated December 2024 - I was asking for support with my wedding on 4th Jan 2025. We are now in April 2026 - I have had my wedding day. No family needed to stay, no family came to the house (they attended the wedding that took place in a venue responsible for their own dumpsters, roofs, kitchens, garage doors etc etc etc)!
C: I have stated in the comments that my husband DIED on 6th February this year - I don't want to delete the post as it's upsetting enough that we only just got to celebrate 1 wedding anniversary without deleting posts about our wedding just because of scammers looking for a quick profit!
D: I am in the UK - not Tennessee, not West Bengal, not anywhere else!
    Good riddance - f**k off
