The cost of dry cleaning my dress

Marcy, 28 February, 2022 at 14:26 Posted on Just Married 0 6
I just want to ask you what you think is a reasonable cost of dry cleaning a wedding dress. I thought I’d take my plain, sweetheart no pleat ordinary dress to the dry cleaners, then asked them to box it up. On their website it’s 45 pounds for a long silk dress. Mine is a long strapless thing which was priced at 350£. You could have knocked me down with a feather. I eventually knocked them down to 250 without the box.

Wow, that does seem a lot! I know it will depend on if it has embelishments like diamantes, jewels/pearls etc, underskirt layers, lace is also more delicate and Satin requires a different way of cleaning but that seems a lot. Maybe shop around, but also challenge them on their advertised price, unless it says prices From as this will be their loophole. Hope you can gind somehwere cheaper

I settled for 200. It has no embellishments at all and decided on no box as I may wear it again will show a picture of what it is. Simple, plain and not in anyway deserving to be charged that much

I suspect you've been a victim of the dreaded 'wedding surcharge' - where everything becomes 3 times the price when you add the word 'wedding' onto it, even if what you are getting is exactly the same!

Thanks for the responses. I’m trying to grin and forget it. Urgh. I have been trying to post a picture of it but without success.

Wow, that's a really high cost. Although I know little about dry-cleaning clothes, I am very familiar with cleaning services at the end of the tenancy. Certainly deduced for me several advantages, from the fact that it saves personal time to a higher level of cleanliness, which is provided by the professional specialization of cleaning companies. There is always the risk of damaging the fragile material of various items when cleaning, so the cleaners at the end of lease cleaners in Stoke Newington , save me every time.

I comprehend what you mean because cleaning issues are important in many ways. I had a similar problem with cleaning and heaters in my pool. However, fortunately I found this designed for long life where I was able to look at gas pool heaters. They have experience with the ability to deal with any trouble, and I really like that after the many houses comes like new. You might also use that.
