Is my MIL talking rubbish (asthma related)

To cut a long story short my MIL says that you should be very wary about giving little boys asthma treatment because when they are in their 20's their lungs can collapse. It sounds like utter nonsense to me and I've googled and can't find anything...

MILs runny nose cure, is she mad?

My MILs cure for a runny nose is to sniff powdered vitaimin C. It just sounds painful to me. I'm not planning on giving it ago but I wondered if she was mad or it was actually a good idea?
