Do extended warranties add value - 2nd hand cars?

Need to decide whether to extend the warranty for our 5 yr old car - we intend to buy a new car in Nov and although the 3-5 yr warranty was well worth the money I can't decide if it's worth paying £700 out when we're going to sell it in 5/6 months....
