12pm or 2pm - what would you go for?

sparkles79, 15 February, 2013 at 23:14 Posted on Planning 0 17

In my head I'd decided I'd have my ceremony at 1pm - but the registrar only offers 12midday or 2pm. Which would you go for?! Thanks.

We went for 2pm. Allows more time to get ready in the morning, you won't need to worry about people getting bored, and gives guests a chance to have lunch before the wedding so you won't need such a substantial meal (unless you want to do that anyway!)

Personally, I'd go for 2 pm but then I don't do mornings so have no intentions of being rushed to get ready on our big day.

Guess it depends on what you have planned and how long a day you want.

The time of year and type of ceremony might change the best reply to your question.....?

Depends on the time of year. If winter then 12pm. If summer then 2pm.

    This.

You need to consider the light for the photos

Definitely 2pm. 12 is way too early in my opinion! There's only so much mingling one can do!x

The time of the year as is said is the main factor and also if it is in a church as that will add 40-50 mins. Unless you dont mind about any photos in which case the time of day and time of year will not matter

Definitely the later. We're booked in for 2:30, but I originally thought 4:30 would be best, then Ant convinced me 3:30, then eventually we settled on 2:30, but I still worry it will be too long a day! Oh well, I'm sure it will be lovely.

"but I still worry it will be too long a day!"

Be warned ! this will never happen - you will never have enough time on your day, it will fly by in a flash.

The only factor in not too early is if that makes it too much to do in the morning -getting ready

Yes, but I've never been to a wedding that began early than 5pm!

I'm with everyone else. 2pm is much better. 12pm is a long day. Yes, you wouldn't personally be bored, but is a long day for guests...

How many guests do you have?

We had a midday wedding for 140 and the evening guests arrived for 6pm. Best decision for us by a mile. No one was bored, the day flowed perfectly and the I got to spend more time with our evening guests. Perfect.

We're having it at 2pm in February.

An extra hour won't make a huge difference x

I wanted 2pm but could only get 12pm or 4pm. I thought 4pm was too late

Thanks for all the replies everyone! I think I know inside 2pm is the right choice, but part of me can't help but think I may as well get another couple of hours out of my day (& venue!). We're marrying at the end of March, 70 people in the day and a handful more in the evening. Appreciate it's a long day for guests. 2pm it is!
