2 small letter first class stamps = 1 large letter stamp?

Is this ok? Sorry for the dull question!

    Well 2x36p = 72p and a large letter is 52 so as long as you don't mind wasting the extra 20p then go for it. As long as it makes 52 then it's fine.

    But 2 letter stamps at 36p = 72p, assuming your large letter is under 100g then the price would be 52p so ok to use 2 stamps, your just over paying but only up to 100g

    Thanks for your replies.

    I figured this was the case so have sent it off as I had an abundance of first class stamps anyway. I don`t mind losing out on the 20p, it would have cost me more in fuel getting to the post office to buy one! ?

    2 regular second class = one large doesn't it?

    not that it matters now if it's in the post ?
