****2016 Brides**** 326 brides (and 3 grooms!) so far!

Hello all - another newbie here!

Currently aiming for end of October 2016, but H2B and I have decided that we can't really plan anything for a few months at least. We are moving and I start a new job in September so we will just have to wait until we have settled in to see how much we can save thus how big the budget is!!

I was feeling like we have loads of time, but reading about all of you organised lot is making me think otherwise... so now I am feeling even more impatient!

Still, doesn't mean I can't look and share in everyone else's excitement to keep me going.

Hi all, newbie here!

We are currently aiming for June 2016. We are both football-obsessed, so want that month so that we can time it with Euro 2016. Assuming England actually qualify (not a bad qualifying group, so we should be able to), we want to have the wedding during the group stages so that we can guarantee England will still be in it. This leaves us with 11th or 18th June.

Plan for the honeymoon is then to go over to France and take in some matches...hopefully including the final.

We're both full of ideas and are now looking for venues.

My one worry is how I'm going to do a football theme without it being tacky.....a bit of a tall order that one!

FRUSTRATED !!!

Hi All

I just wondered if any of my fellow 2016 brides are getting as frustrated as me when making enquiries with suppliers etc for your wedding? It seems that as soon as you tell them your wedding is in 2016 they don't seem interested. I know that they have this season and next season's weddings to deal with but surely they can reply to an email or enquiry.

Just wondered if any of you had the same experience?

I've not had to much trouble yet, but only booked a couple of things. Made some enquires about hair and makeup, took a while for them to get back to me, just to say it was too early to book. But at least I got a response. Ended up going with someone else, who wanted my custom.

So far so good, but I have heard others say they've had problems.

As soon as you get past that 2 year marker they'll all be taking you more seriously, I'm sure. A lot of places will say they can only take bookings two years in advance, as I've noticed.

Yep, feeling your frustrations! But in 27 days we should find it a lot easier!! ?

We're now passed the two year mark & I haven't had any trouble with enquires, most seem to be taking bookings for the early half of the year at least. You'd think they'd want to secure bookings ASAP even if it is a while away. My fiancées a photographer & he wouldn't ignore potential clients even 3 years in advance!

I don't understand why some suppliers are like this. I have bookings for 2016 already and would like more.....and the sooner the better! I would much rather fill up my diary early!

Thanks everyone. It's not that I want to book everything right now but if I could just get some information I can work on my budget. Yes I know 2 years is a long way off but I'm sure most of us are having to save hard, but without knowing the cost of things I'm finding it a bit of a challenge! Hope I'm not sounding like a diva!!!

Those of you who've been following me on this thread will know I've been a bit 'meh' about the wedding recently - I can feel this changing After revisiting the new venue and today being sent the menu choices through, I'm feeling much happier with this one. I think it's more 'us' really, I was a bit won over by how grand the other place was, but for a lot of reasons it's not practical for us. We sent a ton of questions over and she answered all of them, no problems so far. We've asked about booking but are going to wait until after 2 years (if she can hold the date for us) so the insurance will cover it.

Move in day is in 2 days (eeeek!!), am bridesmaid in 6 weeks and then the only thing to plan for is the wedding!

YAY, glad you are finally feeling better about it all now ? Just throwing it out there, some insurances cover deposits already paid. (Is this the venue that the MIL was pushing you to go for?)

That's great that you have got some over things to look forward to over the next few weeks.

Jen-Lou if you don't mind me asking which insurance cover deposits already paid outside the 2 years? I was thinking of doing one, but could only find them that cover from 2 years! Xx

Sorry, I meant when it gets to the 2 year mark an you get insurance, some of them cover the deposits you have already paid, I have not looked into it properly, I am only going off what other people on here have said.

Yep, that's the one. I think in all honesty I didn't want to like it first time round because I was so annoyed that she'd got involved with what should have been our decision. So I didn't really give it a chance to start with, if that makes sense.

Think I will have a little look at insurance stuff today, I will have to find someone who will cover marquees though. If I find anything interesting I will let you know ?

I have just joined hitched today. My H2B proposed on the 15th January this year and today we booked our venue for the 16th January 2016. No other planning really done although we have toalked about what we want and have a rough idea of everything. Bridesmaids and best men (yes he wants 2!) have been asked. I ordered some save the date cards from VistaPrint today now that we have booked and that's all so far!

I don't really know what to do next! I feel like we don't need to do too much more until next year, once we hit the year to go mark but you super organised guys are making me feel very disorganised!!

Like some people on here we have had a couple of problems with people getting involved.....H2B had a phonecall from his stepmum today saying that his sister (who is 16) is upset because she isn't a bridesmaid.....! I have only asked my sister and my cousin (who is 14 and I am very close to - she has never been a bridesmaid!) I haven't even asked my best friend as we are having a small wedding and too many bridesmaids would be ridiculous. Anyway sorry to rant on my first post, that just annoyed me today!

I'm having the same problem with bridesmaids!! I have 4 sister and h2b has 3 and they all expect to be bridesmaids!!! I want me best friend to be one though for definite!! He also wants two best men!! And only having 60 guests most of them will be wedding party!!! I think it's too far but don't have the heart to let them down yet!! Or just let it be ridiculous!!!

Also his mum has offered to pay for photographer but she has already chosen one and give me the card and asks about it every time I see her to make sure I haven't lost it so we can boom him!! The trouble is he has a gallery of our venue on his website and these are not the best!! We have seen a photographer recommended by the venue who is AMAZING!! He does charge more but I don't expect her to pay it but don't know how to politely decline!! Haha!!

People keep asking about wedding plans but there's not much to do until the year mark!! Can't wait for that!! That's when it gets fun!!

Sorry for ranting!!

OK crazy as it sounds, I have bought my bridesmaid dresses.

However, they were such a bargain it was hard not to! They were £60 each. And in the sp ot on right colour. I didnt want to worry about finding something closer to the time (happened recently with my friends wedding and we sort of just ended up with something that was 'ok')

So I bought them as there were 3 options:

1. I didnt and then didnt find anything I like nearer the time. arrrgggghhh.

2. I did and I found something I like more nearer the time, in which case I put these ones on ebay.

3. I did and I didnt find anything nearer the time making me feel super happy that I got them when I saw them.

So yeah basically I have BM dresses wooo.

Also had a photo shoot with our tog last week to test him out before we officially book and we were v happy with how that went also. So far so good!

Help I am having a melt down!!

My fiancee and I always dreamt of getting married abroad ( Ibiza ) however at the time ( winter ) when we were looking to go out there flights were expensive, maximum guests were low and its not the place that you can have a small ceremony then invite lots of evenings guests as it too far to travel for an evening ( I wouldnt do it ) plus my mum is re-married with small children and would potentially mean pulling them out of school?

So, we booked a venue abit closer to home 16.06.16 - still a 3 hour drive but in this country and by the sea. However this time of year alot of weddings around and we cant help but notice all the lovely weddings taking place in Ibiza and how utterly gorgeous they are.

We have already paid £1500.00 deposit for venue and £50.00 deposit for registar.

I'd go as far as saying I am losing sleep with weighing up if weve made the right decision...what would you do?

Omg sept 2016 is so far away!!!! I feel like I want to book everything now. Already booked venue for ceremony and reception and photographer and been getting quotes from DJ's and make up artists. We already know our colour scheme so have enquiried about hiring chair covers etc and got really good prices. I'm tempted to just book and pay deposits on everything that I possibly can in advance so that I'm just left with things like cake, rings, dresses and flowers to organise nearer the time. We are also working to a very tight, small budget so paying deposits on stuff now is helping bring down the total amount we are having to save over the next two years.

Am I crazy and just in wedding fever, or as I like to think, sensible and organised☺️

Definatley that. How we are looking at it is, if we do all the planning, booking, budgeting etc now, we can chill out closer to the time. We were only discussing on Monday what we wanted to do in the week leading up to the wedding, were we can just spend some time just the 2 of us like going the cinema (our first date), watching a band (what we used to do when we first started going out), go bowling (again what we used to do when we first started going out) and a meal in our favourite restaurant and the place we went the night after we got engaged, and we have already agreed not to have mobile phones with us, and i'm already looking forward to this already ?

Sensible & organised defo!

I've been getting quotes for musicians and cars and a videographer this week. We can afford them cause we have so long to save and are in a very fortunate position with family helping out but my conscience is still struggling with spending so much on one day! I know we're spending alot less than some people but its still so much. Yesterday i was set on the videographer, with the mindset we'll have it forever it just has to be paid (its actually a very good price anyway!) and today I cant stop thinking its soooooo much argh! Is anyone else struggling with justifying the price of things?

I wish I was as organised as you lot, I feel extremely lazy! Or I'm thinking it's cause my OH's attitude to planning is starting to rub off on me - "It's ages away there's no rush".

i was meant to go wedding dress shopping last Saturday but I've been in hospital the past 8 days :[ so that scuppered my plans! I need to get quotes for cars as that's what my MIL and I have been working out lately.

So glad you ladies don't think I'm a crazy bridezilla?. I can't help but be excited, iv been with my other half for 14 years and never thought the time would come when we set a date, Lack of money was always our excuse whenever anyone mentioned it. I'm very lucky that my other half is encouraging me to book early, just hope I don't find that by next year iv booked everything and I find I'm bored waiting for the day to come round with nothing to organise

I know what you mean, i've booked as much as I can at the moment so twiddling my thumbs (plus we are meant to be having a month off from anything wedding realted, even talking about it, so shhhh, don't tell on me for being on here ?)
