Yeah wevare having the ceremony in the local registry office the travelling to the venue where the marquee is. We are having it a bit more relaxed and informal, bbq no seating plan so think back ground music will be better. We cant have a band or singer due to noise restrictions in the venue. We are lucky my OH has a PA system we can use, itll just be working out the logistics of it.

Well thats the joys of hitched, we can bounce ideas round without a worry.

We've secured most of our things at 2014 prices :] and my OH can't understand why I would like to get as much booked as possible lol!

I'll be away with the fairies all of next year or maybe just in jan 15, as I'll then be able to say I get married next year!! As for my countdown I'm already past the 2 years mark, just over 1 year 6 months to go!

our wedding is march 11th 2016

our venue is booked entertainment sorted and florist and venue decorator booked as well as baker for our cake. I'm wondering if I'm too organised? Don't want to take away from the buzz of it coming up by having everything done. Excited to see lots of other brides about. Has anyone got weird vibes off bridal shops who think your in way too early? Xx

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to this forum and also newly engaged :-) I will be a 2016 bride but no date set as yet - we would love 25th June 2016 as that is our anniversary but weddings are little more expensive in the summer. The alternative date may be 10th April 2016... We'll see.

Could I please ask one quick question? I have noticed abbreviations (such as OH other half and MIL mother in law, etc) - what does OM mean? Am I right in guessing this stands for people already married?

change my mind plus as it's already been out 2 years am worried about it being discontinued plus the shop said they would store

Hi there almost-date-twin!

I don't think you can ever be too organised and for me the buzz comes and goes anyway! I was really lacklustre straight after the engagement and didn't feel excited at all, then a few weeks later I was really buzzing. I've been up and down like that ever since! We've booked our church and have are about to book our venue. I wasn't going to do anything with dresses until next summer as I'm fickle with styles. Plus I'm hoping to have shed a stone by then.

So far I have deposits paid on venue, photographer and venue decorations, (chair covers, centerpieces etc). Going to try on some dresses next week (altho no chance I'm gonna even think about buying until next year) also got a cake tasting at end of month ? I love being able to have fun and enjoy organising a wedding, something I don't think I could do if I only had 12 months.

Well our colour scheme is cadbury purple and ivory so We came up with the theme of chocolate to tie in with the cadbury in the purple, plus I do love chocolate ?. Going to name our tables after cadbury chocolate bars, and having a chocolate cake with white chocolate roses

This is a great line! I am really pleased we're able to take our time, there is no pressure and rush (so far!) and it's been mostly an enjoyable experience, rather than feeling like I'm planning to a schedule of when I need to sort things by

Fellow brides to be! Looking for a bit of advice... ?

so we are very fortunate to say we are getting help from both families to pay for our wedding. So we've agreed to meet up together as a group to discuss budgets/who pays what/etc. Now I know they are all gonna have different opinions for things to get/not to get & I'm worried it's gonna end up either being blown out of proportion or lead to arguments.

Has anyone had to deal with this kind of scenario or able to give any advice?

Personally I think you could find it hard to avoid things like that. Are both families giving the same amount? In my experience (my parents are giving less than OH's) I don't think it would be a good idea to get them all together.

It depends on how you're accepting the money though I suppose. For us, we aren't saying "you will pay for X". Each set of parents are just adding money to the wedding fund in general, not buying anything specific (except my parents buying my dress but that's more of a sentimental thing if that makes sense). Also we have made sure that although we are very grateful for the money, we wouldn't accept it if it came with terms - "you have to have this" etc. I think by having a meeting all together you run the risk of like you say, one set of parents wanting one thing and the other wanting something different - when at the end of the day this should be your decision anyway,

Well we only know what my parents are giving, still to find out about OH's. Well with my parents they are doing for me what they are doing for my sister to try and keep things fair. But the reason we were all getting together was so we are all on the same page and if someone had a preference for something they wanted to buy.

I think my main worry is the action decision making, not the money. For example: my parents think it would be nice to have a mixture of a band/DJ in the evening, but some of OH family doesn't think the same. I just want it to be a fun thing to do and both families do get along great - but it's just when so many different opinions come to light it could backfire a bit ?

No I haven't even thought about it!

I would look at venues as soon as possible. I had to really persuade my OH to look as I knew the venue I had my eye on is very popular and sure enough when we looked round and decided to book (this was Feb 2014) they already had a limited choice of dates for Saturdays in summer 2016. Luckily we got our date, 13th august.

Congrats to all ladies and their OHs for reaching the 2 year mark, just one more month before we can say the same!

I've booked my hair and makeup. Had 2 that I liked one wouldn't take bookings so far in advance, the other encouraged doing it early. So I went with her. They can only really do one a day so though it was important to get it booked early on. Xxx

thank you :] that bugs me when people don't take bookings so far in advance, it's almost like they don't want work/custom. Our cake lady only does one a day and she was more than happy to take our booking so early, in fact we can't fault her service at all!!
