To my fellow date sextupets I just noticed it is a day of 1's (1 year, 11 months, 1 week and 1 day to go), I think the next one is 3 months, 3 weeks & 3 days.... I think pahahaha! Oh how sad am I? :p

It's nice to see so many brides for 2016.

All my plans have had to be changed as I have had some issues with my family, my sister hates my fiancee - she even has stalked him online and reported all she finds back to my parents! this cause my H2B to go to the police causing my parents (who were paying) to go ballistic and withdraw their blessing, cut me off. I now have decided that I am going to have my church wedding, then go to a nice pub for a meal, I may have to ask my guests to pay for their meals, then have our favourite local bands play a gig (which will be open to the public too) in our local rock pub which I will be wearing my dress to. To be honest this sounds far more fun than the traditional event we had first thought about. Any one else had any issues with siblings trying to ruin what should be a happy time??

Sorry to hear you're having trouble Fibelle. I'm lucky that my brother gets on quite well with H2B, but it sounds like your sister has been a bit of a nightmare! I'm sure your day will be perfect whatever you end up doing - you'll be getting your husband at the end of the day regardless of the who what where's and hows.

I really feel for you, what a crap situation to be in. Your plan B sounds awesome though!

I'm afraid I have a confession to make- we are considering changing our date which will mean I would no longer be a 2016 bride ☹️

We were at a friend's wedding on Saturday and the groom sadly lost his mum to cancer not long before and this was mentioned during the speeches, it was really sad. Later that evening my OH suggested we bring ours forward if possible. My mum has a degenerative disease and my OH said how awful it would be if we had to do the same as our friend, my mum would be simply referred to rather than being there, we both discussed it and had a little cry (yes we'd had a few drinks but my OH never cries so I knew he meant it). Who knows what will happen with my mum but by 2016, if she is still with us, she may be too ill to come, and this would be devastating. So I have called our venue and I'm just waiting for a call back with some possibilities of sooner dates. I feel excited and happy, but stressed and upset all at the same time!

It would be a shame to lose you from our 2016 thread, but I think in your situation I'd do the same. I already feel a bit jumpy that grandparents etc may not necessarily be here by the wedding and they're in reasonable health for their age (my grandad is 87!) but like you said, the thought of not having your mum there must be unthinkable.

Exciting that you get to bump up your wedding planning, its just such a shame its for a sad reason. Hopefully your venue will be able to help you out and you can bring it forward! xx

Hi, it would definitely be a shame to lose you from the 2016 group, but I 100% think you are doing the right thing. I lost my mum 18 months ago and I would give anything for her to be there. If we had been at this stage 18 months ago, I would have moved it forward, got married anywhere/anytime just to have her there. Hopefully the venue can accommodate it fingers crossed. xx

Sarah you know first hand how I'm feeling and thanks for all comments. Our venue has offered 3rd or 4th April, easter weekend which i was surprised was available, and our celebrant is also free, so although its not confirmed yet we may go for one of those dates. We need to decide whether we go for good Friday or Saturday, I'm torn. Part of me thinks we might have better luck finding a tog and suppliers for the Friday as it is fairly short notice. Plus our guests will hopefully not have to take any time off as its a bank holiday. Which one would you lot go for?

Our provisional date is 22nd of July 2016!

@IGBMN Totally understand why you would want to bring your date forward, but you can always be an honorary 2016 bride.

i'd personally go for the Friday, it'll give everyone a nice start to a long weekend.

Fingers crossed you can get it all sorted and the dates/suppliers you want.

I'm a hitched newbie, been engaged over a year now and have decided budget wise that we are looking at a 2016 wedding but I'm really clueless as to what I can do this early on so would be grateful for any tips and advice you have.

We've got a wedding fayre this month to hopefully get some ideas.

IGBMN I agree, I think Friday would be the perfect start to the weekend for you. It also may be easier to get suppliers. Could be worth a few tentative phone calls before you book just to make sure with the big things like TOG.

To update you all, although we haven't confirmed with the venue just yet, fiancé wants to see if a decent photographer is available first, its looking like we are definitely brining the wedding forward to 4th April next year. I'm really excited but stressed out at the thought of planning it all in such a short time, I like to be organised! Plus, although we have brought the wedding forward considerably, I don't know how my mum will be health wise, i so so so want her to be there.

Not sure why some of that ended up small...

You'll be fine, you'll have everything done in time. I think it gives everyone something to focus on. Positive thinking and something to aim at for your mum. I am a great believer in that! xx

IGBMN I know I replied already but I do think you're doing the right thing. If the worst did happen and your mum couldn't make it in 2016, you would always be thinking "what if?" and wishing she was there. Of course you're always welcome here too though! Hope it all works out easily enough for you

IGBMN - you have done the right thing as you would always wonder what if. I think its a good idea to see if a tog is free and then book it. It is exciting and stressful but please make sure you enjoy it all as the planning is supposed to be fun! YOu know where we all are for help and support!

In other news, our potential TOG is coming over on Monday evening to meet us, hoping we'll be able to put a deposit down and then that's another thing ticked off the list!
