I officially have a photographer! So if nothing else, I have a church, a reception with food and decorations, and someone to take photos of the above... I think that officially counts as a wedding now! Looking forward to getting to plan all the finer details and go dress shopping

Hi all!

So I feel I need to get on with these invites now and wondered if you lovely ladies could give me a few pointers where to look for ideas/packages etc. We like the pocket fold designs and would want to print the inserts ourselves to try and keep costs down. Anyone recommend any good sites that you've used? We are having a spring wedding and a very subtle New York theme as we got engages there last October.

Have a look at some of the threads i've comented on, there are a number about pocketfold invites on there (and invites in general.).ohhh lovely idea on the subtle new york theme, any idea on how you are going to do that yet? Just my thought, for it to be subtle, how about using the skyline somewhere on it?

Newbie here and spotted the 2016 brides thread first, so must be fate! We're set for 18th June 2016!

Jen-lou Thanks for the suggestions, I'll have a browse with OH when he gets home! The subtle skyline is the sort of thing we were thinking, maybe along the paper inserts at the bottom? We don't want people to think they are coming to a full on Great Gatsby type do (which was some people's initial reaction when I told them our idea) as it really will be subtle. I also came across a company who do themed photo booths and they are soon to offer an All-American Diner style one! Will enquire and see what that would be like as might be too tacky. All our tables will be named after places in NY that we went to, with pictures of us at them for the table numbers and our colour for the bridesmaids and organza bows is Tiffany blue. Of course, the last dance of the night will be New York, New York!

Absolutely! Loving your theme by the way, I've never been to NY so would be silly for us to have it but it sounds great the way you're just adding bits rather than a full on theme.

i posted a while back saying how my other half and i were looking into cyprus 2016 for a wedding, to cut a long story short so many people were jumping on the band wagon and inviting themselves the cost was just getting a bit out of hand so we've settled on having our wedding here and we'll do a honeymoon afterwards. We went looking at a coupke of venues, fell in love at paid our deposit so i can officially say i am getting married 31st july 2016!x

Thank youxx we dont have much planned, iv been advisedoff others that a minister can only be booked up to a year before? The package we have taken with the venue covers meals drinks and djs, going to take a look a prices for transport but apart from that not too sure what else to do still got major saving to do aswell! In awe of it all still i think lol, got a few local wedding fayres durin sept and oct hoping they will give me some ideas and inspiration lol x

A photographer is a good one to book early, not that we have yet! The local wedding fayres are brilliant for ideas, especially as you can speak to local suppliers who could potentially do your wedding. We went to a national one at the NEC in Birmingham and it was really disappointing, then went to one at what has now been chosen as our venue and it was great. I'm planning surprise fireworks for H2B and we chatted to a supplier about how they could get in and set up without him noticing! Also, who knew your could get fireworks that explode in the shape of hearts?!

Yeah think ill take a looknat photographers even just to get prices, OH done a photography course so he said he'll get in touch with ones that were oing portfolios etc n see if there any good and maybe get mates rates, worth a shot! Lol. Thats amazing with the fireworks such a nice touch, i was looking at lanterns etc as ideas but as its an equestrian centre they dont allow anything like that so back to the drawing board. Definitley going to check the wedding fayres thoughx

I've also seen different coloured ones in B&M recently in packs of 4 for fairly cheap - £1 or £2 I'm sure.

I'm a newbie. Got engaged on 15/8/14! Already planning for around the beginning of 2016, there are so many of us 2016 brides

Such a scary time! Looking through these posts i feel quite behind in the planning.

We are looking at a few venues in a few weeks time and then I'm going to have to forget about wedding planning as I will be starting my final year at uni so that will have to come first.

I am hoping for a stress free affaire, but I think that is wishful thinking! I'm looking forward to speaking with you ladies and getting ideas and ranting and venting!

Hi ladies! Just a general info re hair!

I naturally have very dark brown hair so I have a lot of highlights to brighten it up but I decided I wanted to have my natural hair for the wedding. I went to the hairdresser last week and asked her when I need to stop the highlights and she said now! I got my hair coloured as close to my roots as possible and now I can let it grow out until the wedding. For anyone else planning to do the same -start now!

Is anyone else noticing the time whizzing by just lately? Once the 2 year marker had been and gone, it seems to have flown by. When I joined I had 2 years and 6 months, now there is 1 year and 10 months. Very scary but exciting!!!

Had a good bank holiday weekend on the planning front. I have bought all my bridesmaid's presents (jewellery) and my FMIL bought us the most gorgeous cake stand (she is making our wedding cake).

I notice there are lots of new 2016 brides since I last looked. I hope you all enjoy the planning experience as much as I have been. This forum is invaluable!

Hey fellow twin! I have found it is flying by too since the 2 year mark has passed! Yaaaay! Before the year mark I am trying to book the big things, we have venue, registrar, almost the tog (just need to pay deposit). So I just need to sort out band amd caterers! Then I can get onto the fun bit - dresses! Hehe!

Heavy Metal Maiden

I have all the major things booked i.e. Ceremony, Reception Venue, Photographer and DJ. I have been getting carried away with the planning process and have my dress, shoes, jewellery and tiara etc. My OH has his suit and tie. We have already bought our wedding rings and our invitations are printed and stored away. I also have my bouquets (silk flowers). My poor mum's spare bedroom looks like a bridal shop. I also have most of our venue decorations.

Will be looking for BM dresses next year and will then book our transport and confirm menus with our venue.

I'm so glad we are date twins as I love to share other people's experiences.

Another 2016 bride here!

We got engaged 3 weeks ago so still early days of planning. We are thinking of April/May time. Currently looking at venues but it's proving difficult to find one within budget.

I also really want to get married in a church as I was raised in the Catholic Church, so need to find a church near our chosen venue that my OH likes and are willing to marry us which complicates matters further!

All fun stresses though

We'll I now have all my bridesmaids! :] yay! That's all the important people on both sides sorted. As far as anything else goes I've done nothing haha!

Yay LS! I have a phone call with my Tog in an hour, and I am yet to bath and put the kid to bed! I would start now, but prising him away from his beloved Cars film is going to be difficult.... Would be Ok if OH wasnt stuck in work!!

5 days and I'll be at the 2 year mark!! Eeeeek!!

We decided to get married 7 months ago.. It's gone so fast!

Exciting stuff. For some reason once you hit the 2 year mark it seems to fly by.
