Yesterday we officially booked our venue! and today we went to the registrar, but they aren't taking bookings for 2016 until December 1st - so i'll be at the office door at 9am shard on dec 1st to get my date!

Goodness me - i am SO excited!

Morning ladies! Sorry I've been so quiet recently. I have been following you all and updating this list, posting on other threads occasionally but I don't have too much to update on right now. I think once it's January and the wedding is 'next year' (!!!!) then things will speed up a bit.

Just wanted to do a few personals from the last couple of pages, as I've not replied on here for a while:

To all my July 16th twins - we passed another month! We are now in the teens and close to being under 600 days too ? Obviously I know it's not, but I often think of a year as 300 days so to be under 600 is a bit of a milestone for me.

sarah121 - great news about your dress, I bet you are so excited! It is gorgeous

hellandglory - congrats on booking your date I can't seem to find your date in your post history to add you to the list, when is it?

CoconutDonut - your venue sounds lovely, so personal it's a shame you felt a bit pressured into asking your sisters to be bridesmaids, but it's good that they were so happy to be asked - hopefully they will turn out to be great bridesmaids!

Is anyone thinking of hiring an on the day wedding coordinator? Our venue doesn't really have one and although our caterer is willing to set up tables there wont be any one on the morning of the wedding to decorate the rest of the venue and gardens apart from my other half. Decoration isn't his strong point! We are getting married on a Sunday and there is a wedding the day before so we can't set up the night before so I am thinking it might ease some of the stress, but not sure if it is worth the money.

Hellandglory - I'm so pleased you posted that! We had been told by one venue we looked at not to contact the registrar until a year before the wedding so I hadn't even considered that yet. Ours is now provisionally booked after a few hours of mild panic waiting for the office to open!

I think that might be because you can't give notice until a year before? I think i'd rather have the registrar booked asap though - mostly because i like being beyond any normal levels of organisation haha.

As for coordinator- i would love to, but i'd also have to hire tables to have the reception i want which would start getting costly...i haven't yet sorted who is putting chair covers and sashes on.
Luckily though, room decorations are included in the price of the reception so i won't have to worry about that. For your situation i would say its definitely worth the cost - just for the peace of mind.

We have a co-ordinator included as part of our package, which is a huge relief, as it's one less thing to worry about.

I have today off work, and have been looking at wedding dresses online most of the morning, and having found anything that has wowed me yet. I want to get an idea of some designers I like the look of, and then I can start making appointments with stockists, but so far nothing has grabbed me.

I don't think it helps that I want a dress with long sleeves and er, no-one seems to really do them!

Our venue was on Don't Tell The Bride last night as her dream venue, made me proud!! Lol

I actually found some dresses I liked, all by the same designer, so I've tracked down my nearest stockist and am going to make an appointment in the morning. One of the dresses I really loved, although I know I can't get ahead of myself, as I might try it on and look like a sack of spuds in it!

I love that website as well. Put about 10 dresses into my 'dressing room' instead of working today.

I don't want to go dress shopping et though as I want to lose a lot of weight first. Not sure going right now would help my self esteem, even though I can't wait!

I will say, if you fall in love with a dress online, just go and try it on. I did exactly that earlier in the year, I fell in love with a Mori Lee Blu dress (style 1570 if you want to have a nose) I just couldnt stop thinking about it, it took me days to find a stockist, the closest being 40 mins drive away, so off I went with my mum and MOH and I tried that one with a shed load of others, we saved that one till last, and you know what, it was a gorgeous dress, it just wasnt me, (i ended up going for something completely different, Kenneth Winston 1502), but I am so glad I tried the first one on, I would have always been thinking, "if only I tried it on".

Thanks for the heads up on Debenhams. Struggling to find any in my colour at the min. When we looked at some bridesmaid dresses last month they wanted over £230 for one dress, so will have to keep looking.

I'm thinking of having my dress made - so can't try it on really. Fingers crossed i know myself as well as i think and it will look good!

Thank you - the designer i had in mind actually made that dress and isn't too far from me. I like the thought if it being measured in person and meeting and talking to the person making it so every little detail is what i'd like.

There are options, could try an off the shoulder type like these..

Or go for a bolero over the top of your dress.

I'm thinking more lace bolero as i don't like the feel of off the shoulder too much. I can't wait to get to some shops for a few try ones - i might totally change my mind about what i want!
