Hello ladies (and gents)!

It's been ages since I posted on here, wedding stuff took a back seat towards the end of last year but I'm starting to think about it again! I see I have another date twin (HIII McHelenz!), I think we are quintuplets now, including honorary IGBMN.

Summer brides, we've got 16-19 months to go, depending on your date - what are you all focusing on getting sorted at the moment? We have booked venue, caterer and tog but that's it so far! Want to lose some weight before I go dress-shopping, so that'll be second half of this year. What else should I be thinking about?

I know what you mean, iI was the same, but back in full swing at the min.

Hmm..well, we havent got much left to sort, as in book, at the moment. I think all thats left is the DJ, suits, bridesmaid dresses, wine & fizz for the day, oh and somewhere to stay the night before and the night of the wedding, but we can't do some of that until this time next year. Oh and we've got to make an appointment to give notice, but can't do that until February,

In just the last week we've booked wedding cars, the flowers and wedding rings, but the next focus is bridesmaid dresses.

How did I miss this!?? and why can't I find it!!? ? lol

I contacted the venue today - just to get a idea of a timeline of when i need to get in touch to arrange catering etc etc. They've said to go in anytime now! Scary!!

For those December brides when it comes to photographers how far is too far? We have one we love (the last one we liked was 3 hours away and she said it was too far for her mum to drive her... so professional) but we have found one in falkirk we like and she is an hour away but theres a bridge that closes with high winds and if an accident happens the traffic is horrendous! i'm kind of worried, how far are your suppliers from? What happens if a bridge closes? Or it snows and they don't want to drive? I'm so nervous about this and I would just book one closer to home but the ones closer to home don't have the WOW factor for me?

Don't want to drive? if they are a professional photographer they would be checking the weather reports and if it looks like snow then they surely would stay over the night before, they are not going to let you down.?

You hear so many horror stories about photography now so want to make sure i feel good about the one i pick and trust them completely, is it normal for photographers to work from home? Even if they're professional? Not sure because some have studios/shops/stalls in markets and i've seen a few from home?

Yes it is quite normal for a professional photographer to work from home, some do have studios (me) but most don't but as long as you check them out fully you shouldn't have any problems. If you ever need any help either ask here or you could pm me if you want.?

We met our photographers for the first time last night. They're full-time professionals and have an impressive studio in their home so I wouldn't let it put you off.

Our photographer works from home. He has a beautiful log cabin in his garden to display his work and where he does his editing. We are lucky as have been to a wedding where he was the photographer. Word of mouth is the best recommendation you can get.

Aw that is a relief, yeah i might take you up on that just to make sure i don't get scammed, i am a bit paranoid! There are 2 i like who work from home in the town over, one im pretty sure is legit she ahs done like 100 weddings and her photos are copyrights and has lots of good reviews, theres one with a studio that is more expensive and one with a shop that is way out of our price range! I'm guessing thats because they have to pay rent and stuff though!

Having a studio doesn't mean they charge more for weddings? honestly my studio more than pays it self, I don't have to photograph weddings if I didn't want to because the studio more than covers me?, I just love photographing weddings more than studio work.

A lot of people think if you own a studio then you have to charge more for photographing a wedding but that's simply not true, it does give clients confidence in the photographer but then it shouldn't do if you know what I mean, in the last 3 years 5 studios around me have closed down and the photographers have either packed up or are now working from home but as I said if you need any help then just shout?.

I'm trying to get back into wedding planning but I'm finding it very tedious :/ which is unlike me! I'm working through all my emails from last year and seeing if our date is still free for a lot of things a roulette table being one of the things at the minute :]

I went through a spell over Christmas where I wasn't that interested. I've just started to do little bits again now and getting back into the swing of things. I think it happens when you feel like you've got a while and there's no pressure to get things done straight away. xxx

I've just booked our photographer, florist, and got some bargain centrepiece photo frames for a quid!

Bad news is bridesmaids dresses went out of stock, got to wait for them x

my wedding search this evening has begun with dresses again. I think I've found the dresses for my girls however the only bit I don't like is the stretchy back and no zip :/

Ok, I'm going to go ahead and say it in here - I am getting married on 11th June 2016 - EEeeeeeee Still have to put down deposits, so I might be tempting fate, but all reservations are put in place and money is available for deposits so put me in - I see I only have one twin at the moment, as well. Seems odd for a summer date but I guess you get hte best discounts on the off peak dates

I am excited but also calmer now that I actually have a date... and a colour scheme... and a venue and a church - yay

Well I haven't been posting much but have been keeping up with the thread. Everyone is very organised...putting me to shame!

One year to go today and have booked venue, photographer and registrar so far. Oh and the band as the singer is a friend of OH.

No idea what to do next but I'm sure I will think of something!

ASAP, I was talking to a very good mua yesterday and she is fully booked for March to September 2016 and cant take any more work on, it also depends on how much you lover their work, from my own experience and other suppliers in the industry business is booming and has never been so good like this before.

Hi Christy, I'm in Falkirk and there is more than one way to get to Burntisland The bridge is unlikely to completely close, just have a speed restriction put in place, but closed to lorries and high sided vehicles. You saw what it was like the other day and it still didn't close. Best thing to do is ask her what she'll do in these eventualities. We may have picked the same one! Our venue is over a bridge as well, but I'm not worrying about it

Hair and MUA is my issue, Some want ridiculous money too xx

I'm also getting married on 24th March 2016 and so far I found and paid for my dress, it's actually arrived and in storage at the dress shop!
