Wow save the dates already? I thought it would be too soon for that so haven't even entertained the idea? I know the kind of stationery I want and we are going to be making it all ourselves, I can't wait to get started!!!

Yeah I'm sending them out soon as I know most of our friends and families will be thinking about bookin holidays etc for next year. So just to make sure they know the date as I would really like them to be able to make it. I am always ahead of myself aswell lol!

@Steepdene - I'm the same I walk with an elbow crutch, was talking with a few friends on Wed and the subject came up, as I use the stick in my left hand my dad would have to walk on the other side or do try out walking without and holding my dad's arm up the aisle it's quite long as well.

Who would the carry my stick up to the front of the church so I can use it?

Rockred, are you having bridesmaids or page boys, might be possible for them to carry it up the aisle for you. If you dress it up in streamers and give it a bit of glitz and glamour it will look smashing. That's what I might do with my stick. Or have your H2B's best man hold it for you.

@jen-lou - we have our church, venue, photographer and entertainment booked. STDs will be FINALLY out on Monday. Got my dress shopping in August...

I've been advised to wait until Sept/Oct to talk to venue stylers and was thinking this might be a similar case for florists? I think we're going to do more DIY for table settings, but would need flowers for this and bouquets/ buttonholes etc. I'm going to start designing invitations around then, also.

I haven't even got a clue about the men's suits, but have talked to the lady making the bridesmaid dresses (a family friend) and cake (MOG) and started looking at rings.

I just feel like I have so many ideas I want to choose but am equally scared that if I make a decision I might change my mind before the big day! It's going to be weird eventually being able to actually spend money... I have lists on lists on lists but I'm not making any progress cos it all feels so far away, despite knowing I was hoping to start making solid ideas at this point.

I'm over-thinking this, aren't I? Haha

Which is also our ten year dating anniversary! Very exciting.

We have the registry office booked, and our now looking for a reception venue in Portsmouth that won't break the bank. Nice to see there are some other Feb weddings on here. Please point me in the direction of any hints and tips for Portsmouth and just generally cold wedding times of year!

Booked our car yesterday, decided we're just going to book a nice car to take the BM's instead of a proper wedding car. It's too expensive - another £300ish which we just can't justify.

Also heard back from our DJ today - finally! I emailed him over a month ago but we know the guy so know this is out of character. He's giving us mates rates which helps!

Found some lovely artificial bouquets which I'm thinking of getting for the BMs. Will it look weird if they have artificial flowers and I have real ones? I can't justify almost £200 on 4 bouquets which are only on show for a few hours then go in the bin. These are £11.99 each and look really good!

You should go for it Calella if the bouquets look that good. It's a great price. Will they still co-ordinate with yours?

I feel like wedding planning has all taken a back seat while we've been settling in to our new house, plus I already had the big things booked anyway. Starting to slowly get back on the trail as we approach the 12 month mark; I ordered some sample invitations yesterday and this weekend I am going to look at chair covers.

I'd just take them to the florist and ask them to make a cascade bigger scale version for me! This is what they look like:

I've been updating the spreadsheet today to work out costing's. I'm off on holiday in a week and said once we get back we would start major planning but I cant help myself! I almost cant wait to come back so I can get some things booked!

first things on the list are:

Apart from having a trauma about my make up artist we're pretty organised. Just waiting for our paper work to come through from giving notice & my dress to arrive. We're just under the 10 month mark now

June brides (or anyone really!) - I have been having a conversation at work today and some people are surprised that I have my ceremony/reception venue all booked and I am starting to think about planning everything else. I've also already got my dress sorted, know what colours I want and also that I want lots of bunting. How far are you with your planning? Am I getting abit too carried away with the early planning or is this normal!?

We are getting married at the end of August. I've sorted my venue, photographer, florist, accommodation, dj, band, bridesmaids dresses, my dresses, bought table decorations - totally an organised freak!

No you're not getting carried away by planning this early. People said stuff like that to me and you know what I did? Stopped telling them things.

I started planning in October last year for our wedding August next year. So far I've had 3 fully booked photographers, a videographer, 2 pipers and a florist. Things book up much further in advance than they used to! Your dress can also take 6-9 months to come in and then you need the alterations - people don't realise this!

It can be done in shorter amounts of time, but to make sure you get your first choices, I would start looking at things now!

Yep, I've started planning already. We have a registry office wedding booked for June next year, but we are looking at a hotel venue tomorrow as we've kind of changed our minds. We tried to book a reception venue but the first couple of places we tried were booked up! I've been dress shopping already, but my future MIL thinks it is too early! I don't want to miss out on "the dress" because that'll set the tone of the whole day! I'm hoping to get a venue booked tomorrow and then I'll feel happy. I think I've chosen my colour theme, but that's subject to change, I know the type of wedding I want, but I just need to check the venue tomorrow to make sure it fits with my vision!

Not at all J I am way ahead of myself, but I feel that the more I have organised now, the less stressed I will be when it gets near the big day and that I can actually enjoy the whole process rather than pulling my hair out!!!

Hi Jade, I am getting married in July next year and we have already booked our venue/ceremony, DJ, Sweet Cart, Uplighters, Photographer and the Save The Date cards are being sent out so they will arrive on our invited guests door step exactly a year to the day we are getting married!

Honestly I think you are in no way getting carried away, its personal preference anyway. If you are anything like me that has a plan and spreadsheet for everything, of course you will be well prepared in advance and its part of the exciting experience leading up to your wedding!

As far as the people at your work and their comments, well sometimes I would put it down to jealousy, I am sure we have all at some point experienced it from co-workers!

Exciting! I'm getting close to a year - once I'm there I'm going to add a ticker to my sig so I can actually see it move!

One of my bridesmaids is coming to visit a week today and we're going dress shopping, and to see the venue, very excited!

I think it's whatever feels ok for you tbh. We'd booked our venue, photographer, cake, my dress and provisionally booked the registrar about 18 months out. And I booked our car yesterday!! Found some suppliers were "off" about trying to book so far out, but others had started taking bookings for 2016 already and that was what I was worried about - that we'd leave it til it was 'acceptable', like 12 months out, then when we went to book find that our date/choice etc had gone already! Was looking around at local hotels yesterday for our wedding night and our first choice has been booked already - so I think it pays to be early...certainly no harm in paying a deposit to secure the service on the date you want ?
