Woohoo! We're getting married in Surrey at Cain Manor. Only have venue/registrar and photographer booked so far, so have lots left to organise...first dress shop planned for Saturday though!!

I'm thinking of sending my invites next month sometime (September 2015) but we actually don't get married until May 2016! However, we get married on a week day so I feel we need to give people more notice than usual as we expect them to take time off work for us etc, the least we can do is notify people earlier?
What's your opinion on this, am I being too eager?

We've sent save the dates to most day guests (the guest list keeps changing, is anyone else the same?!)

The Venue, DJ, Caterers, Registrar, Wedding Dress, Bridesmaid dresses, Wedding shoes, cake and wedding night accommodation has all been booked/bought!! ? My friend is a hairdresser so my hair is sorted too!

My hen party was booked yesterday too by my bridesmaid!!

I have a friend getting married in the March next year so it's a very busy 1st half of the year with her hen party/wedding and mine! It's all very exciting. And even though it seems so far away, it really isn't!!

If you've already sent save the dates then most people should know to book the time off.

Your venue will probably want numbers and menu choices around 4 weeks before, so you'll have that amount of time to do/amend your table plan.

If I was in your position, I'd send them with my Christmas cards and ask for responses by the end of March so you have time for last minute bump ups or stragglers!

Our date is 27th August and we're sending ours on 1st of April with return date mid June.

Not posted for a while as had a lot of other random things going on but I'm getting back into the wedding swing of things now! We thought we had our colour scheme sussed but after flicking through a magazine the other day and getting the OH's approval we have definitely definitely decided on dusky pink and purple (think lavender rather than lilac) with ivory Pinterest has become my even bigger best friend than before and I have chosen about 100 bouquets that I like oops!!

I also actually had a day off last week so we went into the travel agents to look at honeymoons... We have decided on a hotel and everything, just need to find a £300 deposit from somewhere!!

Just seen my ticker after posting my last post... I'm into the 9 months now! Single figures!! Ah!!!!

Update time for me, now have a dress, shoes and bag, venue booked and deposits paid for registrar and venue, photographer chosen, paying deposit tonight, hairdresser and make up artist picked, my flowers and the buttonholes decided. Still have to sort out my H2B and what he and his groomsmen are wearing (although I'm thinking navy suit and baby pink tie and waistcoat), decide on a DJ, transport for me and a venue dresser/decorator.

My colours are the colours of sugared almonds, the main colour being baby pink, with accents of lilac, lemon and ivory. We're probably doing a sweet table for favours, so all the sweets will be in those colours, including, yes, you guessed it, sugared almonds.

And breathe, I still have 10 months to go and feeling very organised at the moment!

I love the sound of this colour scheme, so pretty. I am also having baby pink.

Hi everyone, haven't been around much as we haven't do e much wedding stuff lately. We've got a week off next week and will do some then, meeting suppliers, the minister etc. 

I had found a dress I really liked in spring and was set on buying it but it was where my mum lived and quite far away for appointments. So yesterday we went and had a look around and I found one I absolutely adored. Lots of lace and a bit of sparkle. The shop did us a good deal for taking their sample so we bought it there and then. I'm so excited!

We are 6.8. So less than a year to go now

Nice to see so many other winter brides. Am I first for 2016 with 6 January. Maybe there is an updated list I missed. X

Every time someone says their date, I update it in the first post in this thread. So apart from people who have posted elsewhere in the forums but not in this thread, that's the up to date list And yep, you are the first 2016 bride!

Can't come quickly enough... I had my first wedding dream last night, so vivid I woke up thinking we were actually married!

How exciting Jayne E, I actually looked the other day to see who was first for the 2016 brides ?.

Hope you know pooba your post made me count what number I am in the list, I gave up counting after 70! ha.

All the wedding dreams i've had so far, i've not had one in a while though, something always went wrong it it! ha

Ha ha, sorry jen-lou. Only reason I did it was because I thought I'd be fairly early on, was actually surprised as the numbers went up and up!

I'm sure there will be many more dreams to come - I have an overactive imagination during the night so looking forward to seeing what my brain cooks up next...

It's ok, im creeping up to the 11 month mark and it's freaking me out as it is!

Oh yeah some of them have been really funny, not woke up in a cold sweat or anything, yet ?

The only other time the wedding has played on my mind at night was actually the night we got engaged. It was a perfectly epic day (not just because of the engagement; I fulfilled a life-long dream about 10 minutes before he got down on one knee!) and my brain just wouldn't shut up.

We were in America at the time, so I had about 2 hours sleep before getting up at 4.30am (Colorado time) so I could FaceTime my parents the good news. Seeing myself on the phone while talking to them was seriously not pretty

I keep swinging between 'oh, when will the next 8 months disappear?' to 'ohmygodohmygodohmygod not enough time to do everything' - scary stuff. I'm sure the nightmares - when they come - are going to be fun, fun, fun.

I've not posted for aaaages, but have been keeping up to date with everyone's plans

We now have under a year (10 months yesterday!) and I'm pretty confident that we're on track with our plans.

- Our venue is booked and paid for. Ceremony and reception in one place
- my dress is on order, I have my shoes and am borrowing my sister's veil
- OH needs to sort his suit but he knows what he wants
- need to sort BMs' outfits which is slightly tricky as one doesn't live in the UK and another is pregnant... but we have time and a fair idea of what we all want
- We've got our venue decorator and agreed our chair covers, swagging etc.
- I think we've agreed our cake but haven't ordered yet
- We've chosen our readings, and have asked two friends to be our witnesses
- I need to ask a family friend to drive me and my parents in his lovely car
- We've got the invites and all the addresses to send them to, and agreed the list with both sets of parents (that was traumatic! We stood our ground though, and we kept the list exactly as me and OH wanted it, which felt victorious!)
- We've got a card box and guest book
- We've got most elements for the centre pieces
- We have some flowers - lots of allergies so having fake and both mums are helping us put the bouquets together. We need to get more flowers though
- I have his cufflinks as a gift
- he's given notice to our local authority and I'm booked to do the same next week
- we have our rings and have had them engraved already
- our photographer is booked
- I have the bridesmaid's jewellery as thank you gifts
- we have some of the ushers' thank you gifts
- our wedding website is as populated as it can be at this stage
- we've chosen our first dance and most of the ceremony music

So it really feels like we've got a lot done. Still plenty left to do but I've definitely found it less stressful to do bits gradually and to take advantage of sales. We got loads of stuff from notonthehighstreet's sale, and our invites from a sale as well. Keeping track of everything on a massive spreadsheet, and have all future payments mapped out so nothing should be a surprise. We're managing to pay things off along the way, rather than keeping everything to the month before and paying out a fortune in one go.

I can't wait to get the invites sent out now, but have to wait til November, once we've tasted and chosen our menu. I've been determined not to be stressed by it all, and think so far so good. I just can't wait for it to get here now! I just want to be Mrs A!

tl;dr - we're pretty organised so far and I'm really enjoying it

I don't have a wedding website as I've never really seen the point in them - am I missing something here?!

I didn't want one, but decided it was much easier and cheaper than having a bulkier invite. Our guests can RSVP through the website, make their meal choices and find info about accommodation. All of those would otherwise be inside our invite and would cost us more. Of course, our guests don't have to use the website, but I think it's going to be quite helpful for us
