****2016 Brides**** 326 brides (and 3 grooms!) so far!

42 hours left for me! I'm so going to cry and it won't be pretty and the tears will freeze on my face.

Has anyone else just had a enough of arguing over who to invite.

It's putting me off getting married

I feel your pain so glad I'm not the only one. All those people that say just be selfish and invite those you want is such a load of rubbish who actually does that.

What annoys me is how me and my partner are arguing over it as he is not even listening to my point of view!!

We have really just invited who we want. The only exception would probably be an uncle and aunt who we have invited but we don't really see them. The problem being that we couldn't invite all of the others and leave them out. On the other hand there was a close family member who my OH doesn't get along with at all and would just cause drama so we had no problem leaving them off the list.

I guess we've been pretty lucky but the guest list has been one of the least stressful aspects, we only wish we could afford to invite more to the whole day but then we'd run out of space... Oh well!

To be truthful it's the money we paid for 70 but have 80 and it's just so much extra per person on the day.

I keep looking to see if anyone will decline and then I don't need to stress but I can't really imagine people would say no lol.

Yeah, I know what you mean and I don't think family really understands that actually it is a big deal to add X and Y to the list! Some family friends have split up and I asked my dad to ask who would be coming (they're the sort of couple who might just manage to be civil if they both came) and my dad was like "oh just assume they're both coming and if one/both can't in the end it won't make a difference" which drove me up the wall and I had to point out that I would still have to pay for them! My dad had just assumed that if someone is a no show on the day, we get the money refunded! ?

We decided straight away only to invite family we like or that both of us have met, I do not feel bad about that and it was quite a simple and easy decision to make. The only thing we were considerate with was not inviting my 3 cousins from the same aunt. One we would have been happy to invite but the other 2 I do not get on with so more to save my aunt feeling awkward we invited none, it's not caused arguments.

We told our parents that was our decision too and as we are paying nearly £25k out of our own pocket ti celebrate OUR day I think it is only fair that we decide would we want to celebrate it with. If people don't like it then maybe that's just a way of telling you that they do not deserve to be there to celebrate your day.

We've both been married before and both had the big 100+ guest lists. We both resent how much money was spent on people we don't see any more or never even saw again after our weddings.

This time we're having 19 guests and have cherry picked exactly who we want. Nobody has been offended and if anybody spoke to us about it then we'd happily explain our reasons. I just wish I'd been so selective the first time around, would have saved a lot of money and stress!

Same for us - it's my Mum & Dad who are causing the drama. They don't want us to invite my Mum's sister & family. I think this is unfair. Eurgh. wedding politics!

We've been quite lucky with the guest list, especially with my parents since they are paying for the basics of the reception, and OH doesn't really have any family, my mums is huge, so I just explained that I only wanted extended family that I've spoken to as an adult, that was fine. I am inviting my cousins even though last time I saw them would have been 11 years when we get married, but that's just us, only meet up for weddings and funerals after my grandparents died. There's a few that aren't being invited under any circumstance due to family fall-outs but luckily my mums on my side on that one!

Only thing my mum has been funny about is his mates because she hasn't met them, until I pointed out I had, and he hasn't met any of the extended family of hers.

To all those who aren't as lucky - vent your hearts out, there is no family politics and drama here

Thanks laurafish We've booked the church and reception venue...and that's about it! We're meeting photographers this week and hopefully will make a decision on that in the next few days. We're hoping to have a ceilidh in the evening so I've been contacting potential bands about this over the last couple of days too. I've started looking at dresses so I've a good idea of what suits me and what I like now, but I want to lose a good couple of stone so I'm reluctant to buy a dress just yet! There's so much to do and so many decisions to make, it's really quite overwhelming! x

Just, remember that dresses can take up to 6 months from ordering to arrive. You could always have the dress altered to fit if it's too big after your weight loss.

I would agree with EPC, especially if you want to buy from a traditional bridal shop. Most dresses take at least 6 months to come in after ordering. Mine is currently almost 10 months!

Oh my goodness, Karen84, 10 months! Heck! Now I'm starting to panic! Perhaps I should stop being silly and just order a dress then get it altered in that case. I guess if I get one that is lace up there's some alteration that can be done just by tying it tighter... x

Ack, I've got The Fear now. Our wedding is 10 September and all we've done is booked the venue and the registrar. I thought we were doing ok but maybe not! I haven't even started looking at dresses, like the previous poster, I was hoping to lose weight first. I guess I'll just have to get something alterable. I know we need to find a photographer soon, lots are probably already booked for our date, but there are just so many out there I don't know how to begin narrowing them down. Well, I suppose I do know what I have to do, I've just been too lazy to get on to it, oops! I've been sidetracked by honeymoon planning, I'm finding that a lot more exciting right now!

Sorry, I definitely didn't mean to panic you! But it is worth starting looking and explain to the staff that you are planning to lose weight. Almost all dresses need to be altered so they will order the size you are now and then alter it to fit nearer the time.

That's ok, don't apologise I have been looking and I've got a fair idea of what I want and what suits me, but I haven't yet found "the" dress and have been reluctant to commit to anything. You're right though, it's likely to need altering anyway, so why wait I guess. My mum keeps saying we should wait and buy off the peg at one of these outlets nearer the time so it will definitely fit me well, but the thought of that makes me a bit sad, we went to an outlet a few weeks ago and there was nothing there I liked. Sorry, that makes me sound like such a snob! I promise I'm not! x

I don't think it makes you a snob, your wedding dress is probably the one dress you shouldn't have to compromise on! I would worry about leaving it so close to the wedding... What if you don't find anything and you run out of time?! Also, alterations can take a bit of time depending on how much needs to be altered and the seamstresses workload. My first fitting is booked for six weeks before the wedding, which is as close as the seamstress would allow me to do it (also on a weight loss mission!). I hope you find something you like!

Ladies, definitely start looking for your dresses now. You might get lucky and find a sample one that you like or in an outlet store, but the last thing you need is pressure to find a dress that 'will do'. Alterations can usually take the dresses up or down by 2 sizes so you have a fair amount of room to play with. Although, mine was a zip back and I had to seriously diet for the 2 weeks between christmas and our wedding for it to fit!! It's true what they say, the day flies by... try to enjoy every second and just take a moment with each other to appreciate the day, and watch everyone enjoying themselves celebrating with you. I've not posted in here for ages as I have so much on away from weddings! We got our loan sorted from the bank at the end of November so the last few months have been spent booking everything and get things sorted! Now below the 4 month mark, eeekkkkk!!!

Hello 2016 Brides! It's been such a long time since I posted, but I have been checking on here and keeping up to date in the back ground! I'm nearly at the 6 month mark now, it's going so quickly! We've got all the big things sorted, venue, registrar, catering, photographer, band, DJ, my dress (eeeek!), flowers, save the dates are sent out. I think I'm part way to sorting bridesmaid dresses, we're starting to look at suits this weekend and meeting a lady who might make our cake! After having a bit of a lull, I feel like I'm getting back into it again now, coming up with all the personal details we're going to use to decorate the venue and make the day ours ?

what is everyone doing to make their day personal to themselves as a couple? How are the rest of the August/September/ October brides doing? Am I on schedule or falling behind? Haha!
