Yes, I think you must be getting married on the Saturday and ours is on the Sunday yay weekend buddies!

We would prefer to go over as close to the Wedding as possible. Fiancé wants to go on the Sunday night but I told him no way in hell am I doing a 19 hour journey right after the wedding!! So we'll probably go either on the Monday or the Tuesday, depending on flights.

That would be a painful journey straight after!! We'll probably go a few days after the wedding once recovered haha. We're hoping to be away for a month if we can save enough and make it last!

I definitely think that the guest list is going to be the worst part!

We haven't discussed the honeymoon yet. As we are getting married in July, I'm not sure whether destinations such as Australia etc will be viable due to the weather. I did find a good post online which told you which destinations are good for honeymoons depending on which month. One idea was a safari in Africa, another was Thailand (which is apparently still nice in July). I want to go all out for the honeymoon. We will be asking for contributions towards it for gifts. We will probably just book it on an interest free credit card and pay off whatever is left on the balance when we get back. I am selling my house after the wedding (currently living in my OH's house and renting my place out) so could always use some money from that to pay off whatever is left over. Hawaii sounds amazing. I did a two week trip of the west coast of America a couple of years ago and it was fab. My favourite places were San Fransisco and the Grand Canyon x

Oooo a month - how lovely. We're probably only going to do 2 weeks because of holiday from work but maybe we'll see you there!

Thankfully, my Dad is on my side and has promised to talk to my mum about it. Crisis averted, for now!

Our guest list is causing some serious headaches too - we thought we had it sorted and then my mum sent over an additional 20 people she wants to invite....as my parents are helping out with a lot of it I feel that I can't say no, but I'm not very happy about the increased numbers when I barely know some of the people on the list!

I told my mum that we weren't inviting anyone that we hadn't both met. She said "well what if someone breaks up with their SO and brings someone else?"

I don't mind if someone brings a GUEST we don't know (although it's highly unlikely!) but we're not inviting randomers!

Does she know how many your venue holds? If not, you could fib a little

"oh mum I'd love to but the venue only holds 50 and we're already up to 46 - I just can't accommodate the rest!"

I think that's fair enough, I've met all of them but that's about as far as it goes! I don't mind inviting them to the night do, but I really wanted the day to be a bit more intimate with only people we wanted to be there. I think the big problem is that my brother got married earlier this year and it was a big wedding so now she has it in her head that we must have something similar.

Unfortunately she knows everything there is to know about capacity because she went for the initial show round with me (which was probably my first mistake!!).

I ordered my Save the Dates earlier this week so they are en route and I have also bought my sisters bridesmaid dresses. The photographer is booked as well as the venue, DJ and caterers (by default; the latter two came with the package).

I have been saying that all day!

Hello all!!

My fiancé and I plan to marry July 15th 2017!!! Exciting times ahead ☺☺☺?

I'm so happy I get to say "next year" when talking about the wedding!

We have our venue on hold, just waiting for confirmation of a few things in writing before we pay the deposit. It'll make it feel more real once it's booked.

I've been told if I mention save the date cards again we won't be getting married. Apparently I'm obsessed but after weeks of looking at floral invites OH says "they're all too busy, I want a plain one". Why he couldn't say that when I showed him the first one. So I have a few samples on the way in a style he approved of.

I keep wobbling on colour scheme and I don't think we can afford to make big down payments for a few months other than our venue so I'm just saving links and gathering ideas

We got our save the dates the other day so I'm in the process of writing out the envelopes and distributing. Still undecided on a couple of guests for the day so I'm dithering a bit.

We we went for quite basic save the dates in the end:

Hey ladies! Happy New year and YAY we are getting married next year. On New Years day I looked at the clock at 12.30 and suddenly realised it was 18 months to the minute until I walked up the aisle! Eek!

I am also thinking about honeymoon at the minute and we are planning a west coast USA trip. We were initially looking at doing Hawaii too ( for a relaxing few days afterwards) but don't know if we could face that horrendous plane journey home so are now thinking of doing Mexico instead it is sort of on the way home from California (rather then the opposite direction).

I sent out our save the dates to family only pretty much as soon as we had our date as I found some for FREE. So I only paid postage, then the cost of stamps to send out, came to £10.20 total woop woop!

We're thinking exactly the same for our honeymoon! When would you be looking at going? We are getting married in April but childcare would only be available during the summer holidays so we would have to wait until then before we could go. I did really want to fit in New York but not sure it's feasible.

I can't believe it's next year - I am so so so so SO excited!

We've got a meeting with the venue on Saturday which we're really looking forward to! We've had the venue booked since before we were engaged because it's somewhere I really wanted, so my parents just went ahead and booked it. It's a shame we missed out on looking round other places, but hopefully the meeting will go well on Saturday and all our questions will be answered

We're pencilled in with a lovely photographer and we're meeting her for the first time the weekend after - we feel really good about her and I can't wait to finally meet her in person!

We've started looking at the cake - I bake cakes as a hobby (and I'm rather good, don't worry!) so I'm going to do a trial run of the cake on Friday to see if I can achieve our vision. If not, we will talk to another cake maker I know who I did a course with last year

Invites are going precisely nowhere at the moment - we're hoping to get some inspiration at some Wedding Fayres that we have booked.

Hey girls!

So excited we can finally get some proper planning done. We are meeting the cake shop on Saturday, to discuss designs, and I've got an appointment booked for August to meet with the tour company and sort out the honeymoon. We know exactly where we want to go, but the hotels don't release their prices until a year before, so we can't book it earlier. OH works in a school, so we have to wait until the summer holidays if we want a long honeymoon. The current plan is:

Vietnam

Day 1-2: Hanoi

Day 3-4: Cruising Halong Bay on a traditional junk boat

Day 5-6: Hue

Day 7-8: Hoi An

Day 9-10: Ho Chi Minh (Saigon)

Japan

Day 11-15: Kyoto (including a private audience with a maiko or geisha!)

Day 16-18: hopefully climbing Mount Fuji and staying at an onsen in Hakone

Day 19-27: Tokyo (with daytrips to various other towns/cities like Yokohama and Nikko)

We're thinking about adding an extra couple of places to the time in Japan, but we've both been before (we're heading off again February, this time to Hiroshima and Osaka), and there's so much that we want to do around Tokyo and Kyoto that we don't think we can really fit it in.

Well, now that I am GETTING MARRIED NEXT YEAR!!!!! (Finally!) I have decided that I can ramp up the planning. So, I have started to send out my save the dates (we got lovely magnets from vista print in the Black Friday sale). Currently waiting for OH to finalise his guest list so that we know who are day guests and who will be evening guests!

We are meeting with our caterers on 30 January and I have booked a consultation with a florist on the same day.

I am going to a local wedding fair on Sunday to try and find a videographer (still having no joy finding a good one who is reasonably priced)!

We booked the registrar and venue today, which is the first thing we've done and now it's official.

We've also agreed on a Save The Date style so OH is now in charge of putting them together and printing them off. Another company we asked for Save The Date samples sent them through, and while we're not using them for the save the date cards we're going to use them for the invitations, so it's coming together.

I also spent too much time in Hobby Craft today looking at wedding stuff!

Wishing you all a happy NY, I'm so excited to be able to say we're getting married next year, planning for 11th March 2017; just over a year away!

So far ....

We know what venue we want, however with it being a council building, they only open the books 12 before, bring on Feb, and we can get that under wraps!

I've bought my wedding dress! Saw it in the shop window and I had to try it on, first dress I tried and ended up buying it! It fitted perfectly, a one off spectacular dress! I just had to have it, let's hope I stay the same size now until next year!

I also won a competition for a bespoke invite company, so thats the invites sorted too!

I know I would like a gold / travel theme, bought a few decs, but other than that that's it !

Just looking at photographers in Cardiff, so many!

Look forward to hearing about everyone else's mission!

We have booked a guy called Jason Parsons. http://www.weddingsbyjp.co.uk - I've always wanted him as our photographer so he was the first thing booked after the venue.

Will check that photographer out, no we are going for Carphilly castle, we loved that it's almost a blank canvas and offers freedom to do our own stuff!

We weren't going to get ours videoed as we don't like being filmed but I've changed my mind and just going to get the ceremony filmed.

I've been married before and it was something that afterwards I wished I'd done (well until we got divorced that is!!) but it does go by in a whirl so I think it will be nice to watch back.

I wasn't interested in videography until DP decider he wanted to get a helicopter to the venue, and I felt that was something that needed filming! It'll be nice to have the ceremony captured and I'm debating buying us dance lessons so we can look good during the first dance. If I pay for those I want it filmed!

We designed and ordered our save the dates yesterday so they'll arrive on Friday to start handing out!
