I attended a local wedding fair yesterday and got some great ideas. I have found two really good florists who I am going to book appointments with. I booked our photo booth yesterday, got a good deal with £100 off so it cost £395 instead of £495.

Am going to book an appointment with a videographer who filmed our venue for a wedding so it will be nice to see his work at the place!

We went for a look around the venue again on Saturday - it was all set up and looked incredible. We can't wait now!

Cake is sorted - I'm making it. Had a practice run over the weekend which went well. We're going to darken the grey side a little (see pic) and add a bit more definition.

Meeting our photographer on Saturday - SO excited!

We want a videographer, but they're crazy expensive. We're going to the National Wedding Show in Birmingham in March though, so hopefully some will have offers on.

I keep dreaming of the Wedding - I'm like a kid at Christmas right now! I wish it was sooner!

We've provisionally booked our venue for 21st October 2017 which is very exciting! I've contacted the local church but not heard back from them yet so can't really plan too much until I hear from them!

Ive found music for the ceremony and drinks reception which is a string trio with a flute player and I've also found this really cool dj who plays vintage records on an old gramophone which I'd love to have playing during the wedding breakfast! I just want to start booking everything now!

Ive got 2 photographers in mind as well so once the church and venue are booked, I'll hopefully make a decision on which one I prefer and get them booked!

    Hi everyone!!!

This my first time posting on the forum.

We have finally got our date confirmed by our venue's. We're getting married 24th June 2017!!!

i'm so excited, but overwhelmed there's so much to do. We've booked the church and reception venue, now we're researching photographers. I asked my bridesmaids before Christmas also. Not sure what to move onto next?

Yay! Exciting! My nan always said that June weddings last forever (there you go!)

We started looking at invitations quite early, which is good because there are SO MANY TYPES. Ugh. Still haven't decided...

It might be worth researching cake makers soon ish as they like to block out a fair amount of time for Wedding cakes and I would also start looking at BM dresses and Wedding Dresses as they take a while to come in Smiley smile

Have fun with the planning! Smiley smile

    Hi all

so nice to see so many 2017 brides on here.

my planning is well under way I'm feeling super

    organised have booked

    venue / catering / registrar / dj / harpist

car/ hair and make up / favours / photographer

    photobooth/ sweet cart / wedding cake/

my project this month is to try sort out my flowers

but I'm torn between real and artificial. I am

thinking about having all my table decorations

artificial and my bouquets real. Has anyone got any thoughts

on artificial as I really can not make up my mind. Have seen some examples

and they do look good but my mum and mother in law both not keen.

Hadn't even thought about that side of it. I thought the artificial ones lokked

just as good. Nice to there are others that think the same. Mum was

having a right old moan about them.

Ooh you're organised! We're mixing our flowers. Mine will be real with the exception of a paper rose in the centre (hopefully!) You can't tell when they are artificial - my SIL's were and you'd never know. It meant that she was always able to keep her bouquet then!

I do like the idea of real bouquets with artificial decorations. It would probably be best to talk to your florist - they should know which will look best. They might be rubbish at artificial ones, you never know!

I have found some that specialises in the artificial ones. I am having

large candelabras as my table centre pieces so may take one to her

to make an arrangement for me and then decide. It's a relief to hear that

other people going with the artificial option though. Everyone I have

spoke to in my family has just turned their noses up and it puts you off

plus having the decorations artificial will make a huge huge saving for us.

    thanks for the advise xx

We're having artificial flowers for bouquets but we haven't decided whether to have them for decoration too. I suffer really badly with hayfever and as our wedding is the end of May I'm already going to be puffy eyed and sneezing, don't want anything to set me off even more!

As for our current standing on everything else:

    - Save the dates have been sent out and day guest list is finalised, still discussing evening.

    - Venue has been booked and menu chosen (same venue for wedding + reception).

    - Registrar booked (just need to give notice later in the year).

    - Currently looking at photographers, have one in mind just want to shop around a bit first.

    - Photobooth for entertainment is booked (got a really good deal at an exhibition Sunday).

    - Sweet cart is in the process of being booked, just deciding if we want to stock it ourselves.

    - Chair covers/sashes and table centrepieceshave been picked out, just need to meet with the lady to discuss it.

    - Cake we're currently designing as we want a half traditional and half novelty cake.

    - Dresses/suits are on hold until at least the summer.

    - Looked at rings but won't be purchasing yet, my fiancé has wanted to replace my engagement ring for the last 2 years so we've gone for a bridal set for me and he just wants a plain band.

My maid of honor/chief bridesmaid has proven to be less than helpful and out of 4 wedding events has failed to make it to one, although never actually told me she wouldn't make it just didn't turn up.. regretting my decision at the moment! My fiancé's best man is one of my closest friends and has been an absolute star. Luckily my sister (bridesmaid) is helping with most of the planning, she got married 5 years ago and knows what I like even if I don't always know how to say it.

You guys are all so organised.

We have the venue, photographer and we have booked a harpist.

Trying to put together the final guest list so that we can sort Save the Date's and start sending them out.

I am thinking I fancy artificial flowers so I can keep them after the big day as I find watching flowers die quite sad

I have to confess to being a bit of a bridezilla lol

I have got folders and lists of everything but I do love

a bit of party planning so spend my free weekends

    on the wedding.

I am am deffo going to give the artificial flowers a shot now.

This weekend is assigned to making our save the dates

which will be interesting to say the least as

I'm not the most artistic of people but hey we will give it go.

I was getting quoted £500-£600 for std and invites so if we can

get them to look how I want it's again a big saving. I have already gone way

    over budget lol

Hehe I have lots of folders too - I like to get everything all organised Smiley smile

Good luck with the Save The Dates - we're considering assembling the invitations ourselves to save money, so I get where you're coming from! I'm trying to convince h2b that we should use the engagement photos we're planning on doing as the Save the Dates - then we can just get a load printed by Vistaprint or whoever Smiley smile

That's a lovely idea and much easier if you can get them printed.

My save the dates look quite simple but they involve a lot of cutting card.

I have bought all the stationary and tools to do them now so no going back

but feel I may regret my decision quite quickly this weekend lol wish me luck!!

Woo hoo that's the same date as me!

Like you I've booked my venue and am on to photographers. Sadly our first choice is already booked on our date. I was amazed - I thought I was getting in early. So it's back to square one on that front, but it's something I want to get sorted quickly so we don't lose out again.

I'm not really focusing on one thing at a time, I keep researching lots of different things at once and bookmarking them for later. For example, we've pretty much agreed on our Save the Dates (found on Etsy) but we won't order them for another couple of months because I want to send them out a year before the wedding. I've done a lot of research on cakes and a bit on flowers too.

They book up really fast! My friend is a Wedding Photographer and had to turn down bookings LAST YEAR so she was free to be BM on our date! Crazy!

We've decided that once we find invites we like, we're just going to order them. I'd rather have them sitting around haha

I hope you find another awesome photographer! Smiley smile

I got confirmation today our Save The Date cards have been shipped and should arrive by Friday. I'm so excited to see them. I had a mild panic on the train on the way home we'd mis-spelled invitation and so had to check the design when I got in. I was so worried I was going to look like an idiot!

I've emailed a bunch of photographers, videographers and a hair and make up lady. But then I got side tracked, found a photographer/videographer that I loved and watched speeches on his website instead getting all tearry wondering what people will say at our wedding!

I just don't know how many quotes to get for things. I'm focusing on photographers and cake at the minute (the important stuff!) and just don't know how many people to contact to choose between before making a decision.

I was the same - I ordered mine and had a panic when I showed my mum the screenshot as I thought I had got the date wrong!!

Im currently toing and froing over a dress for my MOH. I've picked the bridesmaids dresses but they don't do them in MOH's size (she's a 16 & they go up to 14) so I need an alternative that will blend nicely. She's also trying for baby #2 so goodness knows if she will be pregnant or still carrying baby weight by the wedding so I'm worried about how late I will have to leave it before buying her a dress.

    These are my BM dresses:

So im thinking of maybe this for my MOH:

Maybe be with a sequin sash around the middle? Only worry is that she's quite tall so not sure how this dress would sit on her.

Those bridesmaid dresses are stunning. What lucky maids you have

I'm in a similar boat that one of my bridesmaids has said she's trying for a baby so I think I'll hold off until closer to the time to see if she is or not before buying dresses.

I don't know what your budget is, but how about something like this?

    http://www.littleblackdress.co.uk/trends/embellished-dresses/d-anna-gold-sequin-embellished-maxi-dress

Sorry the pic is tiny, it's bigger if you click the link!

My Sister is currently pregnant and is one of my Bridesmaids. I'm taking her dress shopping in March (she'll be 4 months) and we're ordering her whatever size she needs then.

If you're planning on buying from the high street, you can probably wait until way closer to the time Smiley smile

With regards the second dress, see if the designer has any information on length. I'm tall too and find a lot of 'maxi' dresses are like ankle length on me! I always check if I can! Smiley smile

Thanks, I love the sequin dress and the ones I found in bridal stores were over £200 each! This would be slightly over budget but if my MOH prefers it to the Ivory dress then I'm happy to get it. Just depends on how she feels as she wasn't sure about going for something too tight fitting.

The second dress I had in my post is a high street dress also so it will only come in one length. At least that sequin one looks quite long.

Oh wow I feel like I have some catching up to do now - I've chosen my bridesmaids, booked the venue and paid the deposit, booked the photographer / videographer and ordered save the dates but that's all!

I was hoping I had at least 3 months of visiting wedding fayres and drinking lots of prosecco before I started worrying about the details but maybe I'm being a bit too laid back ☹️

We've booked church, reception venue, photographer and florist. I'm going to make the cake so not going to worry about that for a while.

The dj and photo booth are are the next things I want to book but I think my OH is starting to get a bit peed off with me trying to get him to make decisions when he thinks we have loads of time! Why don't men understand that there isn't loads of time?!

I think it's going to be a popular date.

Have you had much thought on you cake yet? I think I'm going to do cupcakes and maybe a small cutting cake. I can bake a good cake but I'm not great at fancy decorations so thought cup cakes would be easier to decorate. Maybe with some little flags in the top which say things like "I do" or I saw a "pimp your cupcake" picture on pinterest which had jars of sweets which you could decorate your own with

    Hi.

I also am a 24th June 2017 wedding! Been a busy bee organising again.

Can't wait to have all the major things confirmed and booked. My OH seems to be so easy and agrees to everything. Lol

I am starting wedding dress shopping in Feb. Can't wait to actually start.

Hope all your plans are going well? Where have you decided to get married?
