We were going to be leaving booking our honeymoon until Xmas, because we're also trying for a family atm. The plan was, wait and see what happens, book towards the end of the year and then stop trying (if we have a baby before the honeymoon, would we want to leave it with grandparents for 5 weeks, and if I'm pregnant when we're due to go there's a good risk I wouldn't be signed off to fly - plus 40 degree heat and 80% humidity while pregnant does not sound like fun). BUT I realised today that we'll have to go during the summer holidays, so if we leave booking until end of the year, our first choice of hotels etc will probably be booked up.

So, looks like I have to forego my usual "organized, everything set in stone, know exactly what I'm doing" in favour of OH's "book it now and deal with it if we need to" attitude. We do have a meeting with the tour company before we book anything, so I can ask them then about what scope we have for postponing/making changes if we need to.

But, on the other hand, Japan and Vietnam!

Hi to all of the newbies.

Good luck Madam Red. I wouldn't be surprised if you fall pregnant when you least expect it. That is normally the way! Your honeymoon sounds great.

I have booked an amazing string trio and a videographer since I last posted. Met with my last potential florist today who I have to use for the chair sashes. I just need to wait for her to email me my quote before I decide who to use. I have now met with four (!!!) florists and have narrowed it down to two.

We also went to have a meeting with a virgin rep today to discuss honeymoon options. So far we have narrowed it down to Dubai and then Mauritius, Jamaica, The Bahamas or St Lucia. Just need to do some research now to see where we prefer X

How exciting that you're trying for a baby. I do agree it'll happen when you least expect it. I found out I was expecting just after we'd said "oh well, we'll stop trying for a while and go away somewhere".

We don't seem to have done as much as everyone else! Our venue is booked, we have a videographer and photographer, and my cake lady is sorted but we're not meeting until later in the year to actually discuss the cake.

I'm going to a wedding fair at my venue in two weeks where I'm hoping to get some more ideas. We're getting registrar table/top table flowers included in our package so I'm hoping the florist who does this will be there for a chat, and I don't want to book the rest of my flowers until I've met her. I'm still not sure if to order flower center pieces for the fishbowls on my table or just put candles in there instead.

Me and my mum are going dress shopping in May, we're both so busy that's the earliest we can fit each other in and I still have no idea what kind of dress I want. OH has said he's going to cancel the TV package because I just keep recording Say Yes To The Dress.

One of my bridesmaids has told me she's pregnant and due in October, so I think we'll go dress shopping after that. I'm just looking at sale dresses or high street so I don't have to worry about ordering too far in advance. I'm hoping to pick up a bargain in the New Year Sales.

OH is in charge of transport since I'm staying at the venue the night before and he knows exactly what he wants. His Nan kindly paid for the helecopter to bring him and the grooms party to the venue.

Suits can wait until later in the year, OH and his brother are both trying to lose weight so it'll give them chance to do that. He's picked his grooms party, although he decided against having one of his friends as an usher and now I feel so guilty. It's someone he's been friends with for years and they used to live together when me and OH first got together. However, he's completely fallen off the radar and never comes to any meet up so when we calculated how much it was going to cost to have him as an usher with suit, rooms, transport and gift OH decided against it. But he's now announced he's getting married this year and sounds like he's going to ask OH to be involved.

Just ordered this in ivory, to go over my shoulders if it's cold. £10 from ebay, so not a big loss if I'm unhappy with it when it arrives.

Lion dance is confirmed as 7pm ?. Fireworks aren't happening - OH has added some more destinations onto our honeymoon and would like us to get honeymoon photos in Japan (photo sessions on honeymoon or at other locations before/after the wedding, rather than on the day, are the norm in Asian weddings apparently), so we need to save the money lol.

So since I provisionally booked my registrar and venue today I feel like I can properly join this site and add my date to this thread!

23rd Sept 17 for me! Originally wanted a summer wedding and then decided getting married on our 6year anniversary would be more meaningful to us.

So we have set a date, booked our church and also looking at reception this weekend. Really hoping this is the one as the location is perfect. Plus I'm getting a little fed up of trawling through the Internet trying to find one! Did any of you find that problem. Also decided on a themed wedding too! Hope all your plans are coming together people, it's so nice to have people who are as excited about getting married as I am! Hannah ?

Ok so, last weekend I sorted out the bridesmaid dresses! YIPPEE!! Will have them paid end of May as we're going on holiday in 4 weeks so funds are a bit sparce...

However.... I don't think I''m planning my wedding right.... I've seen so many posts on various sites and magazines that people are planning with so many folders, pintrests and basically eat, sleep and breathing it all... I'm not even phased... WHY?!?! we picked the venue before we got engaged, had it all booked. The main thing which I've been clubbing my H2B over the head with (not literally) is that he has not sent the forms off for the registrar... urgh!!!!

I have a lot of magazines, but mostly just to look at other people's pretty Weddings Smiley winking

We have periods of doing LOADS (like this weekend - BM dress shopping, Wedding Fayre, some DIY) and then periods where we barely even discuss the Wedding haha

We picked the venue before we got engaged too, and booked the Registrar at the same time (that was an odd conversation!) so we're really just looking at the finer details now.

I have a planner but I have hardly written in it, and we've had a secret Wedding board for years. We only use it to save random bits of inspiration!

    Phew! Busy weekend for us!!

Ordered the BM dresses (in grey, rather than Blue but that's another story...) and the Flowergirl dresses (which are white, rather than matching the BMs because grey would have looked wrong I think)

Booked our Videographers - It's a team of 3 people so we're currently up to 5 people who will be capturing the day. We're seriously tempted to get them Tshirts saying "Media Team" haha we're seeing our photographer again this weekend for an Engagement Shoot to sort out Save the Dates Smiley smile

What else did we do.... oh - we sorted out our favours! We're having Gingerbread in little ornate white boxes and we're also putting some personalised lovehearts in the boxes too!

I think I'm going to make the flowers out of comic books (much as it pains me to do that to them!) because my trial runs have gone really well.

We have a meeting with a Venue decorator next weekend, so hopefully that'll go well as she hires out thrones and we thought those would be fun for us to sit on at Top Table.

All that's left to really look at is Wedding Rings, Invitations and Suits! After that I think we're pretty much sorted haha

Wow, Stephisoar, so organised. I'm meant to be getting married earlier than you and I've only put £50 down on the registry office.

We have spent £5,000 on rings (incl. engagement) and are hoping to spend no more than that again on the rest of the wedding, seeing as we are hoping for a casual pub do.

That's it. That's all the commitment we've made towards having the wedding. I'm usually Miss. Organised but I obviously don't find weddings as excited as gardening, mealplanning or budgeting!!

This weekend I've decided we are going to find a venue.

Considering palming off finding and hiring a photographer onto OH. He's spent about £7k on lenses since we got together so you'd think he'd be a bit invested in the photo thing.

Once venue and photographer are found then as far as I see I don't really need to do anything for 6 months? No point getting a dress or anything else yet. Maybe I'm missing something!

    Hi Girls

I haven't been on for quite awhile been busy organising/working. lol

I have dress, venue, photgrapher, venue decor, flowers, cake. Decided on BM dresses, hanging off for FG dresses as their mum is getting married before me now. :-)

Only have registrar, rings, accessories for me/BM/FG i.e shoes etc to sort, coaches for guests and kilts for boys.

Pretty organised really and its lovely to read everyone else's progress/ideas.

The only thing i'm struggling to figure out is gifts for wedding party??? Oh and what kind of hen do I want. lol

I hope you are all getting excited as I am now. Can finally envisage our day. :-)

    xx

Haha we have to be! It's a Sunday Wedding on a Bank Holiday weekend so we need to make sure we get in quick! Smiley smile

I got my dress a while ago - they take around 6 months to come in so I wouldn't leave it too late. Same with BM dresses - they said about 4 months for those!

Get OH to look, but make sure you're happy with them too! They'll be spending most of the day with you so you need to get along Smiley smile

That's the bit I can't get over. We're not fussed on having formal shots or shots with our family. Just want to pop to reg office, then go to the pub for a good feeding/watering and have a few casual shots to remember how young and fit we looked in twenty years time Smiley winking.

If it were up to me we would just get married in our jeans but that would upset a lot of people, which I don't want to do, and our parents have offered to pay for things if we don't sneak off and do it alone, so I'm trying to see it as a good opportunity for a good knees up.

Going to a big family wedding on a weekend in a manor house in May...just watch while I come back and change my mind about everything haha!

EEK on the dresses. To be honest I'm looking more at 'off the rack' dresses like Phase Eight but was thinking I'll go to some boutiques just in case. When should I do that? I have 11 months to go.

I'd go now, personally. You don't have to commit to anything. Just see if you like the more traditional Wedding Dresses. If not, buy something off the peg. Monsoon do some lovely dresses and Ted Baker have just brought one out if you're interested Smiley smile

The Manor House wedding will go one of two ways - you'll either love it and want a huge wedding, or you'll hate it and be glad you're having a more relaxed one!

Oooh I'll have a look at TB later. Most of my clothes are TB...didn't know they did wedding things. I find them really good quality for the £££.

My best friend, sister and MIL all hate shopping as much as me, so looks like I'll be taking my mum and SIL to be (who works in fashion) for their opinion, though my mum will undoubtedly spend the whole day telling me how much weight I need to lose...yay.

Hopefully the manor house wedding won't make me yearn for one as we decided that it was either humble wedding + house renovations or big wedding and wait a while to get our house looking pretty. We are only 24 and have a huge mortgage so it'd take us a year to save up for a biggun!
