Hi All

Glad to have found this post! My sister got married at the weekend and it's sparked a fire in our bellies, so here I am! We haven't set a date yet, I'm thinking towards the end of summer or possibly December, so undecided! It's feels like so long away, I almost feel like I'm getting ahead of myself by looking at venues and thinking about catering/decorations etc

I guess there's no harm in being organised

Hey! Hope you don't mind me butting in. I actually proposed to my partner & he said yes!! Very excited we are thinking of the 1st of July 2017!! I actually can't wait!! =)

Hellooooo! Planning a 2017 wedding possibly in February but no date set yet! So exciting to 'meet' others planning so far ahead! It'll come around soon enough!

Fiancée and I have a 9 month old son ATM so hoping he'll be easier at nearly 3 for our wedding... Or worse? Lol

we are at the 'comparing venues but unable to decide if we want a big or small wedding' state. It's annoying haha I want to get planning!!

DS will be nearly three - I've got him down as ring bearer! Have probably looked at more outfits for him than for me already haha

planning a small ceremony, possibly followed by a big but laid back party. Dunno yet. I keep changing my mind. That's why we chose 2017 though, so we could mull it over for a while before having to book anything, I like the no pressure approach but TWO YEARS seems a long time to wait haha!

22nd April I hope... yay!!

Nice to see more brides joining :-) I went to our fe yes wedding fayre Sunday they had an amazing catwalk show casing the suppliers. Payed £800 off of venue Sunday too, were looking to book caterers next :-)

Wow you guys have planned so much!! How exciting I have my engagement party the 27th of March thought since we were waiting 2 years we had to do a little something to celebrate!!

Where are you ladies from?!

I actually can't wait to go try on dresses!! =)

Welcome ladies I'm from Staffordshire in the West Midlands. We are also waiting a bit so our daughter is old enough to enjoy. She will be 4 and a half then.

Counting down til April when we pay the rest of our deposit and book the registrar! X

Disappointment! Found out that the cost for the registrar to marry us at our favourite venue is over £400! But if we get married at the registry office (three miles away!) it's £50 AND we'd have £150 at the venue! No brainer really but I'm a bit sad it costs so much for so little extra!

We are almost booking our venue for May 2017.

Trying to tweak the package slightly and future in-laws are being quite controlling about what we should have.

Hopefully we should have it booked for the end of this week!!!

We were a bit miffed at how much it was to get married at the venue but we're still paying it - luckily we're midweek prices! X

We've booked a venue (again), so hopefully no more hiccups where venues are concerned. We have been lucky that the venue will honour the prices from the original venue (same company)

Wedding stuff can go on hold again though, as concentrating on decorating our new house

Sorry I've been MIA - had a flare-up with the endo so been in a bad place recently.

I'm off to Japan next month, so hoping to pick up some pieces for our centerpieces there. I need to get some containers (although, only if they'll fit in my hand luggage!) for the flowers and some little figurines. Only just over 2 years until our wedding now, so need to get my finger out to get these designed!

Our venue is booked, Oxenfoord Castle just outside Edinburgh, which we live almost too close too- the poor wedding coordinator should probably just set me up a desk in her office

What has everyone sorted so far?

weve booked our venue, looked at photographers and will book one soon as have seen one for a good price that we like. Have chosen bridesmaids and have begun to look at colours /bm dress styles.

We have booked the church and venue, sorted the photographer and I've picked my dress, I have also seen some bridesmaid dresses I like so have booked in for next week with my MOH and also to try on a few other dresses myself so I know the one I've picked is 100% the right before I order it

So exciting I can't wait x

Oh congrats date twin!! I've booked my venue, Springkell in Dumfriesshire, my photographer and found my dress!! It's all really exciting xx

i wanted springkell but wasn't allowed as it was 'too far' according to the in laws! And I had to find something closer to home!

28th may 2017! Bank holiday Sunday! ???

Venue is booked, and need to do something about booking one of their nominated caterers.

Got an appointment to meet with a photographer in the next few weeks.

I've started buying my tables decorations - they are slightly different!

And I have decided on my makeup artist, as she did my makeup in January for sister in laws wedding and she's fab.

Next on my list though really should be bridesmaid choosing but I'm at a loss where to start!

Ive got the venue booked and luckily no caterers to organise there, but cant wait to sit down and choose menu and sample! lol

Booked my photographer, we went for Naomi House in Carlisle, have you looked at Karol Makula in Edinburgh?? he was our second choice.

Oh see I change my mind every 2 minutes about decor lol!!

I've decided on my make up artist too, shes a lovely girl and does great contouring which im a big fan of!

Bridesmaid dresses are troubling me too, my dress is a bit quirky (not goth or anything like that), just a bit different and its coloured too (again not a brash bright colour or anything), so I have no idea what to do about bridesmaids when Im in a coloured dress!!

have you thought about what H2B will wear, Martin likes the idea of a kilt with a difference but Im a suit kinda girl lol

This is spooky now... my other half is called Martin!

He wants to wear trews but I'd like him in a kilt so probably a compromise needed!

I haven't even got as far as bridesmaids dresses yet- can't pick the bridesmaids.

Photographer wise, we have a friend who is a photgrapher and was an Edinburgh 'Win you Wedding' provider and he's very good! So going to meet with him.

Oh see I love men in a suit. I loved the blue suits that are in trend but it isn't going to work with my dress lol. I have no idea he's going to have to wear something light lol, like a grey or platinum kind of colour.

Oh im having my two best friends, Kelly and Joanne, which has caused an issue with my sister lol. But one bridesmaid is brilliant and the other isn't quite as interested lol. I have ideas of styles etc but it's finding the actual real life dresses lol.

'Theme' - if you can call it that- is 'Wild Scotland'

Wedding breakfast room is yellow- it beautiful- and my favourite colour is purple, so it will be a dusky purple / off white/ silver colour scheme, with heavy heavy stag / deer influence, maybe some hares. Instead of flowers my centre pieces are 30cm high stags which I will spray / distress to match theme. They will stand on round wood 'slabs' with bark, dried thistles and heather at their feet. I'll collect all the flowers myself and dry them over the next 2 years. There will be candles in jam jars which will either have a stag head silhouette on the side, or be sprayed over a stencil so the stags impression leaves the candle light seen.

Its a bit of a different take on a traditional 'scottish' wedding. I'm a very outdoorsey person and aside from having a marquee erected on one of my mates farms, I think I've managed to include the countryside which is very very dear to me

We have booked the venue (Edinburgh Marriott), have my makeup and hair sorted.

My theme is Disney!!! (tasteful though!) OH is wearing a kilt even though he is English.
