Ladies, I've had my head buried in the sand for a while (wedding planning is not my bag) but today I found THE DRESS!

    Its the Pippin by Watters

Thanks Stephisaur. I knew it was the one the moment I tried it on. I almost didn't get to try it on because it wasn't in my choices as it was on a mannequin.

That's a lovely dress. I love the Wtoo by Watters gowns, they're beautiful.

I've cut a bridesmaid loose. I asked her last year after I got engaged and we were pretty close. But I've barely seen her since and it doesn't feel right I'll be spending so much money on her when I probably wouldn't even consider inviting her based on our relationship now. I felt like she's in it for the dress and shoes, but doesn't actually care about anything else. It really upset me and someone who does that has no place in my wedding.

I've been searching for dresses, I found two that I love and while I could afford them, they were both just too much money to spend. I'm going dress shopping with my remaining bridesmaid on Friday which will be one year to the wedding. I was hoping to go with my mum but things keep happening that mean it gets pushed back. The dress is currently the thing that's stressing me out the most because I know if I leave it too much longer I'll be more limited in styles.

I'm still having problems with my MOH dress as she's pregnant and put on quite a bit of weight pre-pregnancy as she had spinal surgery and couldn't exercise. So now she's insisting that she will lose weight for the wedding and keeps saying "I'll have 5 months to lose weight" but I want to get her dress in good time so no, she doesn't really have 5 months to lose weight.

Then there's the stress about what to do about inviting children as she will probably want to bring the baby with her which means her other young daughter too but that opens it up to having to invite two other friends' young children also.

In the same quandry with you re children of the bridal party... We only want family children (as there are plenty of them!) but one of my BMs is hoping to have a little one by then... I've jokingly said 'ooh you'll get a night off!' But not explicitly said no children yet

I took my Pregnant Sister BM dress shopping and she'll have about 8 months to lose her Baby Weight but the Woman in the Bridal store was great and made my sister order it in a bigger size. She said that they can take it from a 16 to a 10 (my Sister is usually a 12/14) but can't go the other way and my Sister understood Smiley smile

They'll alter her dress to her shape anyway, so if she keeps her big pregnancy boobs after she's lost the Baby Weight, she'll have needed the bigger size anyway.

Can't help you with the kids thing though, as I have so many little relatives that we're having them all and any of our friends' kids too Smiley smile

Exciting to hear a lot of brides getting to the 1 year mark! Great to keep tabs on where everyone is at planning-wise too, lots of organised ladies here!

I wanted to see how everyone has found sourcing a videographer. In the initial budget we didn't allocate enough and now I'm struggling to find anyone of quality for the £1500 budget. Any recommendations for the Hampshire area?

    Thanks!

That sounds like a very healthy budget to me Stacey- ours only cost us £650 and he's one of the best in our area! Good luck finding someone- I'm sure someone here can point you in the right direction- maybe start a new thread in wedding planning so folk who are getting married this year can chip in?

I gave up on a vdeographer in the end H2B was against it and I couldnt find anyone for my budget (£500). But this is the lady I was tempted to double my budget for. Her vids look good and prices are OK (though I think videography is ridic expensive in general!)

    Hope that helps!

I'm really struggling too with whether to have a videographer too... everyone in my area charges at least £1800 which is quite a bit more than I was hoping to pay. I really can't decide whether it's something we desperately need enough to stretch the budget by another £1k or so...

Not sure where you are all from but I am looking at a videographer too. I am based in Scotland and they are called Strawberry Wedding Films, prices start from £899 up to about £2k and they also offer a custom package too. May not be much use to English brides but pretty sure they travel and their videos are lovely and worth a look. xx

Oh so have you heard good things about them Sapphirebride? I'm from Dumfries so don't know them really but loved their videos. I would like to get them booked and just waiting on them sending a contract to me, then I can hopefully get deposit paid and thats another thing ticked off the list. xx

We decided not to go for a videographer. I'm kind of getting the fear that I'm going to regret not booking one but my parents and partner convinced me it wasn't worth it. I'm going to have our usher film the ceremony but after that we will be relying on guests!

I picked my invitations though! That was super exciting (and ridiculously expensive haha!) Just need to get them ordered and the save the dates written!

One question... How much would you allow for alterations for bridal dress and 2 BM dresses?

This is what worries me - that I'll regret not doing it! We did discuss getting one of the ushers to film it, I was hoping one of my friends from college would offer to do it for us (I did media at college & a couple of my friends are now cameramen etc but I don't think I could afford their going rates!) - it's a big ask to get them doing all the editing etc afterwards in their own time...!

Failing that maybe I just need to get someone to film it & then have a look at how iMovie on the Mac works! ?

The store my dress came from charges 100 pounds for all alterations, no matter how many you need which I found really helpful.

Ladies I need help with Save the Dates and Invitations. We are having a London Underground themed wedding so I would like them to match the theme but have no idea where to look!

Met with one of the caterers we can use at our venue last night & they were amazing! Only problem is they're £1k over what we were hoping to spend (& £2k more expensive than the cheaper one we saw two weeks ago)... that might have helped to make our decision over the videographer! ?

I bought my dress today, I've got the Naomi by Wtoo. It's the total opposite of what I wanted (no bling, not too revealing, not too big). But I love it, it's a really subtle blush colour and I've got a veil in a blush too which adds great texture. It's also really comfortable, which I wanted as I'll be running around after my son and dancing about.

    Lovely dress Slink!!

No vog for us, not something we're into.

Finally found our DJ! Pretty expensive (I think!) for £600 but he is a proper DJ, none of this part time cheese fest that we were actively trying to avoid! Mil thinks it's a waste of money, we beg to differ. I'm super stoked about it! Shame the oh and I aren't on great terms atm, it kills the wedding buzz vibes ?

Lovely dresses ladies! I have short listed three dresses and spotted one other that I would like to try on. Two are in one shop and two are in another! I have called one shop and asked them to order me in the other two which they are in the process of doing for £60. I need to try them on one after the other so that I can make a decision!

I have got my wedding shoes which are lovely Jenny Packham ones from Debenhams.

I also got my bridesmaid dresses this week which I LOVE.

I think I won't be buying anything for a while now as the wedding fund is going to be used to pay the mortgage on my house (We currently live at OH's house). I have tenants in there at the moment but I have asked them to leave due to breach of tenancy. I am going to redecorate and then put it up for sale. Then we will take back whatever money we have paid when the house sells :-(

Luckily we have most things booked so it shouldn't make too much of a difference.

    X
