Hahaha I know right!! Its ok - I've got over the initial trauma of being told I cant have the day off....
But when he said "If its only £5,000 more to get married on a Saturday, just do it then!" ... Oh my, I was FUMING! hahahaha.
Thanks for making me chuckle ?

That's awful they can't give you time off for your wedding! Want us to come and sort him out for you ?

I tried on some dresses last week. Felt like a big white whale ? I'm thinking of going to try some dresses on alone. Has anyone else done that?

I'm thinking of doing the same - I've got two days booked up when people are coming with me - my two adult bridesmaids on one day, & my sister & niece on another, but if I don't find anything I like on those two days I think I'll crack on alone at some other shops - don't want to waste too much of people's time!

I went with my mum and two bridesmaids and it was fine. They were really supportive but I'm really not happy with how I look at it was just a bit of a downer. I think if I go alone I can try stuff on and take as long or as little time with the dress as I want. Then if I find something I can bring them back to see it.

I'm just worried my mum will feel left out - she's sensitive to stuff like that and I don't want to upset her over this.

I went on my own and managed to find the dress - it was a really nice experience. I think it helps to go alone and really just figure out what you want without the stress of other opinions. My mum is visiting this weekend and we're going to see the dress together so it's still special. I shop better on my own usually anyway, so didn't see it being any different when shopping for a wedding dress. Try not to worry about upsetting anyone, the most important thing is that you love the dress.

I went to try dresses on in early March and hated everything about it - felt fat and frumpy in every dress I tried on and my family weren't much support.

Since then I have joined Slimming World and to date since March have lost a stone and a half - went to try dresses on last week and had a much better experience (think its all in my head though)

Well done Ashley! I srarted slimming world this week. I have done it before and lost a stone but now I need to lose two stone! I tried on dresses and they were all too tight across the hips bar one. I am going to leave it a month or so and then re-try the ones that I liked. Hopefully they will fit better then and I can gauge which one I like the best after I have lost some more weight! I am also considering going on my own when I make my final decision as everyone has an opinion and too many get confusing! X

    Getting married 02/09/2017

I have been very busy planning my wedding put all deposits on everything except flowers will do that next year. I know what boquet I'm having and chose my bridesmaids and flower girl boquet too. I already have my dress, my bridesmaids and flower girl dresses, my invites, hair pieces basically everything just got to pay everything off.

I'm currently trying to sort flowers - didn't think it would be so hard (or costly!!). I'm having the below as a minimum but wondering if anything extra needed at church?!

    My bouquet

Bridesmaid bouquets (doubling up as top table pieces!)

    Corsages

    Buttonholes

    Thank you bouquet

    What's everyone else going for?

I have my boquet, 4 bridesmaids boquet , 2 corsages and 5 buttons holes. The church has flowers there already and I have a venue planner so don't need flowers for tables as it's fish bowls

What are you having for the table centrepieces? You can save money by having displays of something else, other than flowers. We decided against thank you bouquets as they are expensive and I would rather spend that money on a keepsake or a day out treat for our mums. How about fresh flowers for your cake?

I have gone all out on the flowers. We are getting married outside in an orchard with a beautiful marble gazebo. I am having a floral arch over the front of the gazebo. I am also having rose petals along the sides of the aisle. Inside, I have ten tables with floral centrepieces in gold glittery vases. (we get to keep the vases so that we can give them away, with the flowers, to some of our guests). We then have a long floral display running the length of the top table interspersed with candles. I also have fresh flowers for the cakes (we are having two; a three tier naked cake and a one tier fruit cake made by OH's aunt and uncle).

I then have my bouquet, four adult bridesmaid bouquets, a wand for the flower girl, three buttonholes for our mums and my step mum and seven buttonholes for the groom, best man, two ushers, one pageboy and our dads X

Sounds amazing! We are thinking of candelabras as centrepieces with gyp on them - they'd be sorted by our venue stylist. I just feel like the church will be a little sparse! Quite like the idea of petals in the aisle Smiley smile

Thank you. How about some pew ends for the church? They are relatively cheap if you use gyp etc and they will look really pretty. You could do every two or three pews to make it more cost effective.

I'm debating between fresh rose petals or biodegradable ones for the aisle. I feel pretty guilty about shredding lots of beautiful roses to place on the flor. My contract says fresh rose petals only but another supplier said they will allow biodegradable ones so I need to find this out. Plus it will be cheaper! X

Yeah I think will do something like that! Need to go to the church to do a pew review, can't picture what they look like / how many there are - the random things weddings force you to think about! X

It does get a bit mad doesn't it? My florist has to ask the venue the length of the top table and the length of the aisle etc etc! It's all very technical! X

I've not been on this thread for ages. I had a little bit of a lull but I'm back in the wedding zone, now it's under a year till the big day! My planning was going well until I've tried to find a florist!! I didn't realise, but it's Mother's Day the day after our wedding and so all the florists I have contacted have said they wouldn't be able to do the wedding due to this!! I'm a but panicked now, but can't believe there would be no one who would book us! I'm really at a loss!

I had the same problem! Did find one which was a larger florist and had lots of people working there who said they would do it. We've decided on silk flowers in the end and are just liaising with the supplier now to make sure they are all perfect! Easy for us though as we literally only want bouquets/buttonholes and not any centrepieces etc. Probably worth googling to see if there are any larger florists in the area that may be able to help. Or, people that do floristry at home as that was another option I found at a wedding fayre

Flowers were always gunna be pricey but I had budgeted for £500 and mine came out at £450. We have everything done now... we handmade our invitations which don't go out till November but I keep thinking I'm missing something major because I'm not eat sleep breathing wedding like magazines suggest I should be... I'm not on pintrest or got any mood boards etc!

    Am i a freak? lol!

I feel exactly like this! All we need to sort is the florist (had an initial meeting but need to finish up), suits (h2b's responsibility) and invites!

Have you sorted your Honeymoon yet? We're just waiting for flights to be released so that we can book Smiley smile

Exact same as you Stephisaur! Honeymoon booked.. well the cruise part is... we're just waiting on the full and proper flight schedule being released! Not wanting to fly with a tiny airline so waiting for United etc to come available! Just need to finalise the hotel for NYC too!

I just need to pay for a few more things, then thats it. Smiley smile

Oo where are you cruising? Smiley laugh

We're torn between a cruise or just a Hotel Stay - we're planning on Hawaii and trying to find a cruise that departs the week after the Wedding (as opposed to the week before!) has been tricky. We've found a Royal Caribbean one, but we're not sure if that's the 'vibe' we want, if you know what I mean? Smiley smile

We booked our honeymoon with Royal Caribbean last month as we were on th Oasis of the Seas and my H2B was hooked and booked our 12 night cruise sailing from NYC down to the Caribbean! I cannot wait! We're going on the Anthem! Staying in NYC for 4 nights before too! We're departing 4 weeks after the wedding, but that works better for us as our leave year is from april -march so it means our wedding will be in this years entitlement and honeymoon in the next! We're currently trying to get our honeymoon sorted as well Smiley smile so exciting!

Not 100% set on where we're going as keep chopping and changing our minds but we have contenders! Ideally we want to be away for 3 weeks and that's the max leave I can have off work in one go so just debating whether to go back to work for a few days in between wedding and honeymoon - would that be odd?! I'm planning to take 2 days before wedding & then it's bank holiday.

I don't think that's weird at all! If we go for a cruise, we'll have a couple of days between the wedding and the flight after the bank holiday and I think it'd be good to go into work and get stuff sorted out!

We're planning on going for 2 weeks - it's only a small company and we work together so we'll be missed!

Had a lovely surprise from FMIL yesterday though - she's been sorting out her late husband's stuff (he passed in April) and one of his pensions has given her a cash lump sum... So she's paying for our Honeymoon! Honestly we were so overwhelmed - there were tears!

    xx
