Ladies, I thought I needed to get a move on with the dress shopping with 10 months today.

Had my first appointment today had my heart set on a Maggie Sottero dress, the first dress I tried on I absolutely loved, tried on around 7 more but couldn't get away from the first dress I tried I felt amazing!

As I am a very decisive person I decided to go for the first dress I tried on so I have now purchased my dress! Eekkk feels so real now!

Yes definitely all seems more real, but also everything seems to be falling into place which is nice! As I felt like I hadn't got much sorted.

It's a Sottero and Midgley- Celine dress.

Hello everyone, dipping my toes in to the conversation, have a lot to catch up on and going to spend my evening after the football reading through.

We are slowly getting the main things in place, have booked the church (all no cost which is fab!), the reception venue, the band and got a meeting with the photographer on Tuesday to hand over our deposit and book our free engagement shoot, wasn't on my agenda but it is free!

Flash of venue, it is 25 minutes from the church, we have booked an afternoon tea with extras plus a bbq in the evening Smiley smile

    Current favourite dress...

Current favourite dresses for bridesmaids (long and short versions and may change colour)..

Have lots of ideas on colour schemes, favours etc but too many to list!

Hello, can I join this post please? I've enjoyed reading your posts.

We got engaged 4 weeks ago and set the date for 14th April 2017. We've booked and paid a deposit on our venue and provisionally booked a registrar to attend. We've got an appointment at our local registry office to do the notification of marriage.

We're planning a smallish ceremony of 40 up to 50 guests and I've asked my bridesmaid (just having one) and booked my hairdresser to do both our hair and make up on the day. I'm looking forward to reading your updates and hearing your plans. x

Bobbys_Girl, where is your venue? I'd swear I've seen it in an episode of Poirot. It looks gorgeous.

    Ratatatmilliecat, welcome and congratulations! ?

Ugh, I'm bored. I need wedding stuff to do. We're waiting for the full itinerary and quote for our honeymoon. Feels too early to be doing things like booking hotels, invitation wording etc. Feeling at a bit of a loose end right now.

Welcome to the new Brides Smiley laugh

MadamRed - it's probably not that early to look at invites. They were one of the first things we looked at and it took us AGES to decide on anything! We'll be looking at ordering ours soon - they'll need some assembly and let's be honest they don't exactly go off do they! Smiley smile

Plus, we want to send ours in Novenber and that's only 5 months away, so when I think of it that way, I feel more rushed haha

We've bought the invitations, just need to work out how we're putting the wording in. Our wedding is on a Thursday and in the Easter holidays, so we'll probably send ours off with Christmas cards in December and just remind people of the date on a regular basis until then.

Ahhh I see. Yeah ok I see how it might be a bit early for that haha

It might be worth looking at your hotel bookings though - you usually get a good price for booking in advance and Easter hols will book up fast

I'm bursting to tell someone - I bought my dress and it's so beautiful!!

I've mentioned it before but I had a terrible time trying on dresses the first time. I'm not really heavy but I'm not happy with my weight and I just looked and felt awful in the dresses. So I went to a dress shop on my own and tried some on and they were amazing! They lady listened to everything I was saying and ignored all the crazy stuff and helped me narrow down my choices. When I tried the dress on I knew I had found the one. I went back a week later and still felt amazing! I can't wait a year to wear it though hahahaha!

I'm not going to flash a picture - just in case - but it's Phil Collins 5309. http://www.philcollinsbridal.co.uk/portfolio/pc5309/ I'm heavier than the model but it still looks amazing and it gives me such a good figure!

Aw man I love this dress so much!

That dress is gorgeous!! I found mine at the weekend - I can't get over how different it feels when you find 'the one'. I felt so huge in all the dresses I tried on (trying to shift a bit for the wedding) but in the dress I've chosen I didn't care. I keep looking at photos of it!

    You're going to look stunning!

    Beautiful dress lady! Smiley smile

First dress shopping for me this weekend - eeek!

Negotiated £500 off the caterers bill which is a result - makes me feel slightly better about how much we still owe them... and venue visit tomorrow night! Yay!

Thanks ladies! It's been brutal already keeping this a secret haha!

I'm finally not worried about my weight. The dress is ordered to fit me as I am now so if I lose no weight then I know I'm going to look fab and if I do then I will just look slimmer and still fab! I'm so excited ? I need to get a hold of myself haha!

Well done Chapples for negotiating some money off! Want to handle all my contract stuff for me?! It's scary how much this all costs!

Hi, I work in events and do a lot of wedding fayres but here for my wedding which is end of July next year.

    I've booked

Marquee, Church, caterer, photographer, videographer, entertainment - which is part of my every day job, hair and make up, dj with bits and pieces.

This is because I am building a home this year as well and the day we get married is a busy day.

We've booked a block of rooms at the nearby Travelodge. The full amount has to be paid by us 6 weeks before the wedding, so we're going to include some information in the invitations. We'll put a box on the RSVP cards for guests to tick if they want a room. Anyone who hasn't given us the money by a week before we finally confirm numbers will have their room cancelled to make sure we aren't left out of pocket.

I'm now looking at putting a coach on from the Travelodge to the hotel and back. It's mainly the return trip we need it for - the venue has a really strict kicking-out policy - but we figured we might as well offer it both ways rather than people get a taxi to the venue. We've been quoted £350, which isn't bad.

I've been off wedding planning because we found out my mum has cancer and I've not wanted to plan the wedding because it's just made me too upset. We were going to cancel and have a small ceremony but realised what we had planned works out better because my mum can leave to nap or just rest if she needs to because she'll have a room there. It's difficult that she's not going to be able to do the planning that I wanted with her, and I hoped she would be able to come to some dress appointments but it's now unlikely. It has clarified what I want from the day and I've moved a lot of people from day to evening and vise versa.

I have another dress appointment this week as I've had doubts about my dress and I never paid for it so I'm going back with some different friends to try on my dress and some different styles. I have planned it well and they have their sample sale on this week so I might be able to get a bargain!

We have two days off in August (a rare occurrence for us) so we're going to the wedding venue to discuss the day and set things up. We've written a list of how we want today to go so we want to make sure it will work and they will be happy with it.

We've also been talking about taking a honeymoon which we hadn't planned on but I think a long weekend will be perfect, but it's all we can really get away with unless we want to take out son with us. We're thinking four days in Venice would be lovely.

Sorry to hear about your Mum, Slink. Hope she doesn't find the treatment too tough. We're here if you need to vent.

I know a few people who've been to Venice and it sounds like it would be lovely for a minimoon.
