im so undecided about a theme or colour, I'm going to have to have a serious think. I love the idea of candles and some themed cocktails etc and little edibles on the table, especially for the kids but I need to sit down and really think. I'm quite a quirky sparkly person so think I may have to have some subtle sparkle and classy cocktails and non alcoholic cocktail for the kiddies!

Hello fellow 2017 brides!

We just booked our venue last week and now have a date! Saturday the 22nd of July 2017! We're just waiting for the paperwork coming through the post (should hopefully get it on Tuesday), have booked the photographer and paid his deposit. Bridesmaids and groomsmen are picked and the theme we're going with (just colours) is red and cream to match our birthstones (Ruby and Pearl).

Currently looking into wedding cars and wondering how long in advanced I can book the registrar for the ceremony!

Wow, I am so happy to see so many 2017 brides. I honestly thought I was waaaaaay early. Venue booked and confirmed this week 1st April 2017. Under 2 years to go. The colour scheme is purple and silver and the bridesmaids have been asked. That's pretty much where I am at the moment. I didn't think I would really be able to book anything else due to it being so far in advance however I may have been wrong....XX

We booked our registrar straight away, Then when there is a year to go you will contact again to confirm and give notice etc.

Our date in mind is Saturday 18th Feb, as it will be our 6 year anniversary and we got engaged on that day this year. Nothing booked though, no venues decided on, going for registry office but not chosen which one yet!

Done: guest list (18 people!). Not having bridesmaids or groomsmen so that's sorted! (If we did that'd be half the guests used up haha)

colour theme we like most so far is sage green and white, with the odd bit of peach/orange.

looking at a couple of photographers but nowhere near booking. Think we have to decide what we want to do on the day first!

I'm so excited I could burst!!! We had our first meeting with our Priest today and now have a confirmed wedding date of 25th March 2017! It's all feeling a bit real now! We have found our perfect venue too, we just need to put the deposit down! I'm glad we've got a couple of years to plan! Don't think I could handle the stress if it was any sooner!!!

Hi catlady28. We have the same wedding date :-). I feel the same way, I'm glad we have a long time to plan! Already decided on most things and making loads myself so got lots of time. Ordered my dress on Saturday, it's early but didn't want to look at so many dresses and get confused on what I want :-) bring on 2017! x

My date is 5th August. I thought I was far tooooo excited for a wedding so far away (I feel everyone is getting sick of hearing me bleat on) so I'm really pleased to have found this thread!
Booked my venue (Eastwood Hall, Nottinghamshire) and booked the registrar before that as wanted to make sure they could do my preferred date. Chosen my menu and colours plus both mine and OH attendants. I've bought some beautiful favours and hand made signs plus gifts for the bridesmaids.
I've been looking at dresses for me and the bridesmaids but I am seriously the fussiest woman ever!!!!! It takes me about 6 months to choose an outfit as a guest at a wedding, never mind as the bride!! Lots and lots of ideas and have made several mood boards as I kept changing my mind but I have settled on a pastel coloured theme with rustic decor.
I was thinking of having a photographer package on groupon....is that really awful?! I just think over a grand for a photographer is a bit much as we are funding the wedding entirely ourselves. With 4 kids between us this is no mean feat!!! Xx

Hey, we obviously chose the best date ;-). You sound very organised! Although, I'm obsessed with pinterest right now! I have lots of ideas, I'm collecting brooches at the main to make my bouquet! It's so nice to have this site full of other ladies just as excited about weddings! Don't feel like I have to 'bore' my friends! Ha!

Hello everyone!

I do not currently have an exact date but am hoping for August 2017. Our plan is to get married in Greece with a small wedding party of eight (including the bride and groom) and have a party upon our return in which all our family and friends will be able to attend.

So far we have selected the location of the venue in Greece though have not decided upon whether we will have the reception in the same place as the ceremony. In addition, we have chosen a wedding planner however have not contacted them to confirm their assistance as we have not agreed upon the exact date we would like to get married on.

The venue for the party has been narrowed down to two places (which we are revisiting over the next two weekends) though again the date hasn't been confirmed. I am hoping to have a Disney themed evening though not currently sure whether this will be general disney or specific to one film.

OH is home this evening (as he works away all week) so am hoping to try and narrow down the dates a bit more.

Less than two years until our wedding!! Eeeeeee!! Need to get a move on! I'm planning on changing into a cheongsam for the evening. OH is going to China with his mum this summer, so he's going to take my measurements with him and get one made to measure for me, maybe along with his suit. I'm going to get wedding insurance this weekend.

Anyone up to anything interesting? I took my godmum to see the venue and she loved it so much that most my family is now staying over the night before the wedding so we can have dinner together and get ready together in the morning. They have stunning bathrooms so very excited for a posh bath! Hoping that will mean I'm more relaxed too. I've also seen some stunning branch centrepieces that I like the look of. Still haven't got wedding insurance yet and still haven't booked the registrar as we ended up a bit skint this month.

The wedding dress I love is a bit cheaper but still too much over my budget. I might go to a bridal outlet - anyone else thinking they might?

We don't have a colour scheme as such - the centerpieces are all going to be different colours etc. My bridesmaids are going to be in blue, because I want dyed dendrobium orchids for my bouquet. However, in Chinese culture, red and gold are considered to be lucky colours for weddings, so the cheongsam and invitations will be those colours.

I am seriously debating a bridal outlet. I object to paying £800+ for a dress I will wear once.

I thought you might say red ? Sounds like those colours will look lovely together. Our scheme is silver and navy blue with hints of other colours.

Buying wedding insurance today I think. Started paying the videographer as well. Eeek! 700 days to go for us x

i read online that you can't book the registrar until 2 months before.. Has anyone else had this problem?

my registrar is all booked and confirmed for 8th July 2017. Once it's all booked you need to give notice of the marriage 5 to 6 months before ?

I'm struggling to find anyone that will do insurance for July 2017. Panicking slightly as have already paid out for a lot of deposits.

any ideas ??

Nicolag83 - WeddingPlan insurance and Dreamsaver insurance cover deposits paid prior to taking out the policy up to certain amounts so look out for them when you can get insurance. We just bought ours and they cover our venue deposit which is a relief. If you paid by credit card you are covered too - we did this for our own security x

Our registrar office said we could book 3 years before, but can't give notice til 3-6 months before or something. Need to book them on payday or we may have problems! x

RoseArcana - thank you will have a look at those was getting a bit jittery paying out lots of money with no security. We paid our venue by credit card but the rest has been by bank transfers. Will feel much better once insurance is booked and paid for ?

Nicolag83, most insurers won't insure you until two years before the wedding, for some bizarre reason. Debenhams also cover deposits paid before the wedding.

Madamred- yeah was hoping to book with debenhams or John Lewis have had a look at a few tonight but need to discuss with my OH before deciding what to do. Will just hold off booking anything else now until sorted ?

Going looking at a venue end of this month so excited! hoping for a church wedding so will have to make sure date we want is ok but atm think we are set on 16th September. Am desperate to start planning but all seems so far away.

Honestly you will be surprised how quick it goes. My sons wedding is on the 13th June this year and it only seems like months ago we started planning.

It's not too far away honestly... I started planning ours over a year ago according to my hitched join date! And we still have just less than 2 years to go! No harm in doing looking around and gettings lots of ideas together if you feel it's too early to do certain things. Set budgets, figure out what kind of day you want, set an area to look for venues, look at colour schemes etc. I know a lot of my suppliers are getting a few bookings for 2017 so I didn't want to leave it too long x
