Hello all! I just registered today and am so happy and excited to join you! We picked the date (8th of July 2017 but most likely will do the court house on the 7th with church and reception on the 8th ) last month but I had the feeling we have plenty of time so no need to hurry with starting preparations. Now seeing how far ahead others are I start feeling a bit uneasy. Problem is that being parents we need to be very organised (school holidays etc) and so have talked and picked a date but... there has not been an official proposal yet! My partner has obviously planned something and from some half sentences I gather it might be happening at my birthday mid October but who knows? Has anybody been in a similar situation? Is there a name for it? Pre-engaged?! Anyway... don't see the harm in starting to look around and gathering ideas. We won't tell anybody before the official proposal except... well he is telling his buddies and I will hint my parents cause I know they will be so very happy! Telling his parents will be the real challange. His step mother hates me and our children. His dad I guess will be ok... Ah the joys of weddings!

We had a date (and a venue booked!) over a year before an actual proposal lol so I don't think you're mad

I like calling it 'pre-engaged' there's definitely no harm in looking and if you've chosen a date then nobody really needs to know you aren't *quite* engaged yet

Ignore the evil Step-Mother and put your foot down early. It'll save you hassle in the long run I swear!

Dress collection went well (no pictures, sorry!). Apparently, I haven't put on as much weight since ordering it as I thought. It is a tiny bit tight around the stomach, though - no room for food at the moment. I've signed up to TheBodyCoach this week, so hoping that after 3 months of that I'll drop enough that I can afford to indulge a little at Xmas and still have a comfortable fit by my first fitting.

At the moment, it just needs cups adding, the straps shortening, and the length taking up a little.

I bought my hair jewellery as well. I'm having my hair in a Gatsby bun, so I ordered this gorgeous little thing to decorate it.

One year today until the big day for me and OH! If it's as hot and sunny as it is today, I'll be super happy! It's 28 degrees in Kent today ?

I'm feeling way behind on planning. I keep getting distracted by little bits that aren't important at this stage and putting off bigger things. Invitations are the top of the list but favours are just more appealing!

I'm at a bit of a "so, er what do we still have to do again?" stage. We've got future BIL working on designing some RSVP cards to tie in with our invitations, and I'm getting addresses from everyone for those ready to send out at the end of the month.

Aside from that I think we still have to

*work on the containers for the centrepieces

*build a Companion Cube card box

*choose the food

*finalise the ceremony arrangements with the registrar (still haven't decided about music, vows, and readings!)

*buy the groom's ring

*finish making my 1,000 cranes

*book the hotel for OH and the groomsmen the night before

*buy a new cheongsam for the evening

*go over timings with the venue and suppliers

*book the spa for me and my MOH the day before ?

Can anyone see anything we've forgotten?

My wedding is on 27th July too. been planning for over a year we got engaged on the same date last year at disney world in florida.

We're debating asking the DJ to play the ending song from the first game after the lights come up at the end of the night, but not sure if that's a bit cheesy. We want to get a load of Zelda references in as well. The ringbox is going to be a Zelda treasure chest, and I'm toying with asking my Dad to say "It's dangerous to go alone - take this!" when he gives me away.

I'm not creative/good enough with my hands to make them I don't think. I love the idea of using the song at the end. OH really wants a sign saying the cake is a lie next to the wedding cake.

Please make your Dad say that!

I really need to sort ours out. It's going to be a cardboard replica of the Daily Planet building from Superman. So far, I have a box xD

Welcome and congratulations! How is your wedding planning going so far?

Were going to ask OHs sister if she fancies a go at the companion cube card box. I'm not a gamer but OH is and it's one of those games that has been there and played throughout our relationship. When I showed OH he was really into it. I think that was one of the first thing that we planned. Although originally I was going to make it myself, but I have no patience and suck at crafts so I'd have sworn and cried and there would have been no box. Future sister in law is very creative so hopefully will be able to make it work.

Were also having a cake is a lie reference. There's a paint your own pots place close to us so we're going to have a couples trip to make paint a cake stand to put next to the companion cube as a feature. We can then keep it afterwards.

We decided at the weekend that we're going to have orchestral music from films during the breakfast. I wanted classical music as something to sit into the background, but while we enjoy a little bit of classical we don't think we could fill the whole breakfast with music we really liked. So instead we've gone with movies. That's one of OHs jobs though, which is looking forward to.

We're having music from the London Philharmonic Greatest Video Game Music albums during the meal. I'm going to put together a cd of JPop/JRock music for before the ceremony (have to get some in there somewhere!). Our current music thoughts for the ceremony are:

Entrance: Pazu's Fanfare (Laputa: Castle in the Sky) or the Jurassic Park theme

Signing the register: Not Even the King (Alicia Keys) plus one other which we haven't chosen yet

Exit: Raiders of the Lost Ark theme

We could have companion cube cake toppers!! This has only just occurred to me now to scour amazon for them. I love Portal 2.

It's crazy isn't it! We booked our date etc 15 months before the wedding & now we're at about 9 months already - scary! I think we're pretty much on track but I'd like us to sort out minimoon plans & am feeling like a nagger - I think I'm just going to book somewhere myself at this rate! ? How are you getting on?

Haha! It's the same with me I booked the places about 18 months before and thought I was on track.

ive got my wedding dress sorted and my flower girls dress because it comes as a two piece.

STDS sent out which is good so needing to start making invites soon ready to go out after Christmas.

but I know what you mean, I'm wanting to book my honeymoon asap because it could sell but he wants to wait until price comes down.

got issues with my mum atm so I must be on track with the planning, what's a wedding without drama eh?

Hello all, 6 months today for me. It's moving quickly.

I've been dress shopping today, I've got a dress from Monsoon which I like but not perfect. I've seen 2 totally different dresses that I really like today and I'm just hanging around for my 2nd appointment. The next shop has a sample I'm interested in too.

I'm shopping on my own but the 2 dresses I've seen are totally different so I may have to find someone to come with me next time. (Friends and bridesmaid are scattered around the country and I can't wait too much longer if I want to order something in).

I've still got to sort out the cake (I'm not too bothered about that), I'm looking forward to menu tastings so we can send invitations and menu choices.

Mostly I'm feeling in control and enjoying everyone's updates.

The thing I'm least looking forward to is the table planning!

I bet I could win any argument about drama! ?

Our invitations have just gone through a last minute facelift (I thought these were done months ago *sob*) so reworking what we have to suit what we've already bought.... *sigh* the joys.

Made myself a nice collage for my work computer desktop out of our Engagement Photos though which is serving to relax me during times of crisis

Awh that sounds really nice. We didn't get any engagement photos looking back I wish we did but we have saved so much for this wedding because we have gone all out for everything.

therws so much I need to do but I can't do half of it until closer to the time especially with my bridesmaids because they are only young so I don't want to get their stuff until closer to the time in case they grow.

i can't wait for the day to come it's going to be amazing! But I know it's going to go so quickly ☹️

Starting invitations is our job for this weekend, I'm on wording OH is on designing. I need to pick my vegetarian option but think I'm just going to ask the only official vegetarian who's coming what she wants, anyone else who picks the veggie option will be doing it because they don't fancy the other mains.

I need to start to get the things for them thinking about it.

i also need to get a dress for my MOH but I don't know how much is average to spend?
