Hi, I've been reading the forums for a while but never got round to posting. We are getting married on 20th August, can't believe how fast it's going. We have been together since we were 16 so 8 years and got engaged on the 28/10/15 ?

    Congratulations and Welcome Emmals1992!

I can't believe it's finally 'THE year' for all of us! I also can't believe I only have 129 days to go!

Thought it was about time I got my act together so today I have made a start on putting invites together and actually writing people's names on them... it all feels VERY real now!!

I did the same as you today MrsC2B! Now it's under 5 months away it suddenly feels much closer so I thought I should get invites out so people can start booking hotels etc. I have written all the day invites out and stamped and addressed them but I'm wondering if we should put in directions from the church to the reception venue. it's about a 20 minute drive and I think everyone has a sat nav or smart phone nowadays so it's not necessary but OH disagrees and thinks we should. What does everyone else think?

We had a meeting with our venue today too and met the new wedding coordinator who was lovely and she went through the whole day with us and I feel much more reassured about everything now.

I would pop some directions on a little info card just in case the SatNav dies or something.

Are you going to do order of services to hand out on the day? If so, could you put the directions from church to reception on there? That's what I'm planning on doing!

I get married in just less than 5 months (May 26th) and still so much to sort out, really need to get organised!

My shoes arrived today so that's one less thing to worry about.. Smiley smile

Hope planning is going well for everybody!

Woo for shoes Disenchanted - what are they like? I need to wear mine in they killed when I tried them on with my dress which was for less than half an hour...

They're very bridal haha, I held off buying them for ages because I couldn't decide if I wanted more 'neutral' shoes that I could wear again.

    http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_63126+1007770?CMP=SSH&tmcampid=28&tmad=c&sku=P5055341237757&placmp=SSH_4358241016_303987175_19118261095&mkwid=s5Mz67Zbx%7cpcrid%7c75068238415%7cpkw%7c%7cpmt%7c%7cpdv%7cc%7cprd%7cP5055341237757&gclid=COvCqeH1qtECFRS6Gwodj1MItw

The other problem I have had was that due to the length of my dress, I can only have shoes between 2.5 and 3 inches otherwise they will be poking out from under my dress! So that has really limited my choice I think. Not that I can walk in heels much higher than that anyway!

What are your shoes like? Breaking them in is a must, painful feet on your wedding day is not the one! Smiley smile

I put basic directions and the post code on the info sheet that went in with the invites- and the phone number for the venue as there is very little mobile signal there!

Im going to try my dress again this afternoon... unfortunately the combination of Christmas and a gynae issue requiring hormone based treatment means I suspect there will be tears later when I find I can't actually get into it now! Still, it might kick start me on my long-planned-usually-ignored diet!!

    Happy wedding year everyone!

Under 100 days for me now and feeling pretty ok about everything!

Had a hair trial yesterday and really loved how it turned out so things seem to be taking shape nicely.

118 days for me and yesterday I finished the last batch of day invites, today I addressed them and tomorrow they're in the post. We've also ordered our evening invites, I was going to make them but I can't face it!

I sent my shoes off to be dyed and am waiting for them to be returned hopefully won't be too long.

I'm trying to work out what I need to arrange with existing suppliers. I'm focusing more on small details for the venue thinking about adding extra food and drinks.

14 weeks and 3 days until my wedding! *engage panic mode*

I've sent emails over the weekend to touch base with the videographer, photographer, florist, venue, and registrar. Most of the RSVPs are back, but we need to send out a couple of invitations to people on our reserve list. We've booked in our menu tasting and final details meeting with the venue as well.

Hair and makeup trial is booked in for the same day as my first dress fitting. My florist is going to give me a trial of my bouquet as well, so I can see how it looks with my dress.

    Left to do:

*sort out the centrepiece containers for the florist

    *finish the table plan

    *print the table names

*arrange someone to come over and see to the cats on the day of the wedding

*arrange someone to collect the bouquets/buttonholes and cake on the morning of the wedding

*send ceremony choices to the registrar

    *put music to CD

*send must play/don't play list to the DJ

*touch base with the lion dance

*buy glowsticks and props for party

    *place cards

    *pay all of the balances

    *groom's ring

    *gifts for bridesmaids and ushers

    *make card box

*book the spa for me and the MoH the day before

There's probably other things, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

Aw ladies this is so exciting - we get married this year!

We have to get my wedding ring, book our hair and make up trials, buy my shoes, buy the bridesmaids shoes and accessories, buy the flower girl dress, order and post our invitations, make the bouquets and loose about 4 stone haha!

I'm feeling pretty relaxed about everything. I really didn't want to do very much, a lot of my friends made things for their weddings and though they were really beautiful I don't want that stress. I just want everything chilled and stress free. Making the bouquets is stressful enough for me!

When are you going/did you go for your hair and make up trials? I still have a while to go but my mum seems to think I should do this really early.

Also did your save the dates match your invitations? Mine won't and I'm trying to decide if that's important or if I'm losing my mind!

I'm going to plan my trial for the beginning of February for my May wedding. I need to arrange a night out/meal/something because it seems a waste to get all done up like that and then just watch Netflix at home!

My save the dates didn't match my invites on the slightest. The save the dates were all OH, made by him and we had to convince a few people it wasn't a theme wedding after they went out! The invitations are more traditional with pearlecent card and ribbon.

It is getting exciting. We got our wedding rings today. Slightly concerned that after the event we were looking at the jewellers website and what looks like the same rings are over £700 cheaper online!?! Surely that can't be right? We've emailed customer services to find out.

Just getting RSVP's back. Had a slight trauma that we got some blank RSVP's back 2 days after we sent them, (they were stamped). Turns out envelope seals had popped and they scattered out. Invitation supplier was fantastic and reissued invites with extra seal and all back on track. If I'd made my own I'd have been gutted.

I'm having a dress made and I keep having wobbles but each time I go I come out feeling reassured and excited. And I'm only at the pattern stage. Next fitting next Monday, would like to lose some weight before wedding in April though.

I need to help my mum get an outfit and we need to sort bridesmaid and bestman gifts. Hair trial isn't booked yet however hairdresser has done updo's and makeup for me before so feel ok. I'm more stressed that something happens and she doesn't come. I'm tempted to book a makeup session at a department store counter for me and bridesmaid as a back up and cancel it when she arrives .... or is that OTT?

Feeling good though and in control. Happy times ahead for Team 2017.

19 weeks and 4 days for us! We've got a meeting booked with our vicar for two weeks time so I'm looking forward to that. Invites went out over the weekend and we've made our food choices this weekend too. I spent ages over the weekend making confetti cones with my step daughter. Has anyone used Adams Apple for confetti? They are so much cheaper than other suppliers and I wonder if there is a reason...

Hair and make up trials are the next thing I am thinking about. Still can't make up my mind what I want to do with my hair though, my latest thought is to get some extensions.

Sounds like you're all getting along great with the planning!

    I am inexplicably stressed.

I don't know what it is, but at the moment Wedding stuff is sending me into a little bit of a panic mode.

We don't have much left to do - suits this Saturday, make some flowers, decopage a postbox and then we're sort of done.

I think I'm just nervous that it's SO CLOSE (110 days eep!)

I also hired a personal trainer last week to help me with my workouts once a week so at the moment I'm panicking a little that I won't actually be able to shift this extra weight that I've gained over the engagement, despite having tried for months!

Stephisaur I have the mysterious panic too!! For every thing I tick off my list, at least one more question or task gets added, which does not help.

We started writing our 'do not play' list for the band/dj yesterday. It's very long ?

    Yes same!

I'm SO glad you have a do not play list too!

My mum keeps telling me that we "can't" tell the DJ not to play Abba, because "everyone LOVES Abba"

Um... I don't, H2B doesn't, his Mum hates them with a burning passion...

    So yeah, no Abba lol

I was beginning to think we were weird for requesting this lol Smiley smile

We don't have a 'do not play' list but the band we're using have done loads of events for our family so they know us really well. They know what songs to play to get my lot up and dancing and what to avoid. They're going to play 2 sets of music they know will go down well then we're having an hour of 90s dance cheese in the middle for me!

I'm booking my hair and make up trial for March. I might go out once it's done but not sure. Don't really want the OH to see so might just get her to take it down in the hairdressers for me.

I'm having the non matching invitations then. I got really cute STD's with dancing shoes on them but now we've (finally) sorted a colour scheme I want the invitations to tie in. We're having grey and yellow (sounds weird but it looks really good) and I've seen invitations I like.

Our save the dates and invitations aren't matching either. We will be having a don't play list, I am not having any Take That - I cannot stand them! We know our band (lead singer is a good friend of OH) so they know our taste, but will give the DJ some guidance.

I started exercising last night. My brother gave us an exercise bike which up to last night resembled a clothes horse! 144 days to go, I need some exercises to tone my arms up a bit. If I can't make them smaller in time I at least want them to be firmer!

I've got the wedding panic. I'm fine as long as I don't think about it! Then the panic sets in.

I got to the point I've worried about having a rubbish DJ so much I don't even care anymore. If he's rubbish I'll just buy everyone another round so they forget about it! We've asked our guests for a list of songs and requests but the DJ is part of our package so somewhat out of our control.

I'm planning my hen do! I wasn't going to have one but I'll totally regret it if I don't. I think I'm just being a spoilt child. I didn't want one until I found out the best man has started planning the stag!

I ordered Adam Apple confetti and I'm delighted with it- it isn't EXACTLY how it looks in the pictures on their website, but I guess you can't have the same petals they took the photos of! It smells divine too... and as you say it was SO much cheaper than everywhere else and at the end of the day, it just gets chucked, doesn't it?!

I'm having a 'head in the sand' type panic- have got LOADS still to do, lots of DIY to finish, invitations to complete and send out... and I'm 'busy' farting about with the (bl**dy frustrating!) guest list and table planner on hitched..... GAH!!

How can you not like Take That!! That's going on my "please play" list now haha!

I'm ordering belts for the bridesmaids dresses. The dresses are gorgeous but just need something sparkly to make them pop. Will I need to buy them in the same colour as the dress? Even though they'll go right round them and are being stitched on?

Haha I don't know, I just really can't stand them.

It's less of a Take That thing, more of a Gary Barlow thing. H2B thinks he's a tw*t lol

We like Robbie Williams though Smiley tongue

*Disclaimer* I have actually seen Take That in concert, so I actually don't mind either way haha
