I hope you enjoy your Hen Celebrations ladies!

I struggled not being in control of mine, but they were right to take the stress away from me.

Apparently the plans changed a LOT in the run up, but they just made sure I was sorted for the actual day Smiley smile

First fitting went okay and i have my next one in three weeks. My bridesmaid dress should be in soon too which is exciting.

I went for a walk around some shops after and think i found a suit for DS and some earrings that I like so a fairly productive afternoon.

My hen is this weekend but I arranged it myself but apparently there are some surprises. I'm looking forward to a nice relaxing spa break.

    Amazing dress Stephisaur!

I had my hen this weekend and am now a broken woman haha. Literally the most hilarious weekend of my life and actually quite touching to see all those people come together to party with (and laugh at) me ?

    First fitting tomorrow, eek!

Congratulations! Love little baby boys (biased since i have one)

I had my hen this weekend and had a great time. Lots of relaxing spa time, prosecco and a lovely treatment. Nobody wanted to leave. My friends make a special box for me to keep too which was super nice of them.

I got the call today that my bridesmaid dress has arrived so i need to make a fitting appointment for that. I bought my guest book today so I'm going to eBay things like pens and stickers to see how creative my friends can get.

We went to pay for the wedding rings which are now ready but they're back in the shops safe but they fit and look pretty good.

We also have our final meeting with the venue on Thursday and more suits at the weekend. It's all go!

    Congratulations!

My hen do as great on the whole, except for a slight disagreement with a friend and a blazing row with my mum. But, as I say on the whole great! 5 hours straight dancing on Saturday night with heels on the whole night!! OH's mum also told me I'm the daughter she never had (she has 4 boys), mixture of high emotions and vodka but it made me cry!

Had a successful trip to Norwich yesterday & my dad bought a suit - just got to coax my mum into getting something now too...

Also collected some hilarious photos of me from my childhood to go on the table plan side panels (long story), which my dad has nearly finished making, & collected the wooden boxes he's made for the table decorations, so all in all a productive week. Also given my work colleague a list of the outdoor games we're borrowing from her, that they unfortunately didn't get to use at their wedding due to rain.

Tonight we're sitting down to choose our canape options, & I WILL get the bunting finished this weekend. Then next job will be signage!

We had our final meeting yesterday and put our plans in place. It's the last time I'll be at the venue before the wedding weekend which was a strange thought as we drove away.

I did the table plan today and it all works out. I got the samples for our table numbers and stationary so they're sorted, just needed a few tweaks. And then i had to calm OH down when I told him how much they cost! We can send everything off to the venue and my stationary lady on Monday (my 100% reply to this or you won't be fed RSVP date).

This is the awful weekend we're paying the venue, the videographer and the photographer. We might need a stiff drink after we pay out so much in one go.

I've also got all the passport forms filled and have been practicing my new signature before i sign it. I can't get one that feels right yet!

Suits for both dads tomorrow and popping into Next to pick up the one i saw for my son.

I feel really productive at the minute and have lots of daily jobs to do! 6 weeks tomorrow for us.

We had a lovely visit to our venue at weekend - it's a council run stately home and they are doing secret tours so we got to see the cellars and the underground tunnels which was very exciting! Also booked my hair and makeup - I did have it booked but she had to cancel me so I needed another. Slightly bad news is that the gorgeus haircomb that I scoured the internet for is probsbly too heavy for my baby fine hair. Slightly good news is that I'd already made a lustful purchase of a second one that is much more suitable! Had a slightly traumatic weekend as I decided to do a little crafty project . . . . only to find that my fabric stash had been attacked by moths. OH was less than impressed as I ransacked wardrobes; flinging stuff outside and scrubbing it all with vinegar but after being pointedly told that his WW2 uniforms were at risk he fell in and helped out a lot. The house looks like a laundry and smells like a chippy but fingers crossed i got them all.

Oh no - I don't think I could deal with moths lol I hate them ?

We had a busy weekend on OH's "Stag-ish" do. He doesn't have many male friends his age, but one of his Ushers happens to be the boyfriend of one of my BMs, so we went to see them at the weekend.

We went to London on Saturday and went to a Lego art exhibition that was based around the DC comic book characters. OH looked so excited!

After that, we went to the ice bar and got a little too drunk but it was great fun!

    Happy Monday everyone!

So - last week we went to register our wedding. We're getting married in a Methodist church, outside of the area we live in and despite some reading up on any issues, a quick phone call at the time I made the booking assured me there were no problems.

I'd done some research as to what registering might entail and as my OH and I were parked in the car park whilst she "did her face", I asked her what my favourite meal was - I got a blank look! Add that to shoe size and favourite colour and you can imagine where this is going!

    However, it gets worse.

Once inside, the OH is taken for interview first. Date of wedding? Wrong! (She did correct herself but was a little jittery!). My date of birth... quick mental calculation for the year, just scraped through... the BIG one - what church were we getting married at....

Now, remember ladies, we're only doing the basics in the church as our wedding venue isn't licensed and the reason we're doing in the church we are is 'cause we like the vicar - he drinks in the same bars as we do! And also remember that I've done most of the planning and sorting out of paperwork etc...

So - name of the church. She had no idea! We'd never been to it, seen inside it, didn't even know its exact location!

Anyway... we're booked in to register the wedding again next week, having been to the Mothering Sunday service at the church yesterday....

    Couldn't make it up.....

Oh bless her Mr P! That's hilarious! When we went to register at the registry office my OH was in there for ages after I'd done my bit - I was left stressing in the waiting room as to what had gone wrong - 30 minutes later they came out to call me back in & turns out they'd been having a nice chat about camping & had forgotten I was out there! Charming eh?! ?

Good luck at your next attempt!

Oh bless her! I got all nervous in mine, I did forewarn the lady that OH would get my DOB wrong, which he did, he thinks I'm a year younger!

I had my hair and makeup trial this weekend, and I hated it! Trying to find an alternative, I know I should have told her I didn't like it but I came over all British and found myself saying "oo yes it's lovely" what a fool!! We registered for our gift list yesterday, that was really fun. Much harder than I expected though spending other people's money!

We did the guest list at John Lewis and I really recommend it. I know it's more common to ask for cash nowadays as most couples have already set up home, but we're using it to upgrade things. New pans, bedding, breakfast set (toast rack, butter dish, cups), nice glasses, photo frames etc etc. They also do red letter days so we've registered for a night away glamping too xx

We didn't have to go in separately when we registered.

Just over 2 weeks to go until our wedding - eeek! We're almost done, I think. Just the "little" things left to do:

*Print some additional place names (a couple of friends have dropped out at really short notice)

    *Print the table names

    *Print the table plan

*Print some Order of the Day cards

    *Finish making the card box

*Finish the decor for the ceremony room

    *Packing (about 90% done)

*Print out our vows and the readings so we have spares

*Check I've backed everything up to the laptop (and backed music up to iPod)

    *OH to write his speech

    Welcome ExpensivePinkConfetti716!

MrsQ - I hope you had an amazing day! Can't wait to see an update

katiepoppy - how awful to find all your fabric mothed. Fingers crossed you got them all and everything is safe now.

Steph, sounds like a great weekend, and if he had fun that's all that matters.

Everyone I know who has been to register seems to have got a question wrong. Me and OH had to pre-agree what he did for a living. We work together, not a clue what his job title is. OH got the time wrong when we registered, which is a bit of a worry.

Miss_conduct, such a shame about your hair and make up. How disappointing for you. My bridesmaid told my hair and make up artist she really liked her look and then told me after what was wrong with it like I'll be giving instruction on the day for how to do it properly!

I'm a bit jealous of your gift list. We're hoping to buy in the next couple of years and don't want to get things now because we'll want new then. We don't really want anything and we'd feel bad accepting cash from people so when people ask what we want I just look a bit scared and shrug my shoulders. Nobody really believes that we just want everyone to come and party.

40 days to go and we have done the big payments today. I've updated my wedding budget (not that I've stuck to that!) and the number is looking a bit scary. But now I know everyone is fed, we can have the tables the way that works for us and I've kept the bad influences away from each other for the meal!

I'm spending every day sat at the computer emailing people at the minute and my diary is a constant to do list!

I've bought the jars and scoops and things for our sweetie bar, I'm rather looking forward to the date in my diary that says "research sweets". I'm starting to feel that the reason I've found wedding planning so easy is because I've not actually done anything yet.

And, we cannot, at all, even a little bit agree on a first dance song.

Congratulations MrsQ!! I look forward to a report!

The thing I liked about John Lewis is that any gift vouchers people buy will be paper ones with no expiry, so we can save these as long as we like/need.

My first stop would be Amazon or eBay to see what the shipping timelines are. Maybe a local market, I know my local indoor market has a few fancy dress shops. If they don't have them in big enough sizes they might be able to point you in the right direction.

I've ordered so much stuff online I think I'm going to be buying thank you wine for the whole street because they'll be taking so many packages in for us!

We finally have a full set of groomsmen suits as we finally got OHs brother and dad fitted today. I now just need to find out who has acceptable shoes and who we need to buy for.

On the first dance song, OH has given in (decided he doesn't care enough) and let me pick so I've chosen It Must Be Love by Madness. Less than 4 minutes, upbeat, easy to dance to and not too OTT lovey-dovey. Perfect.
