Hi All

Hope you dont mind but so i dont go crazy i'd like to put together a little diary together on here.

I'm getting married on the 28th August 2010 to my boyfriend of nearly 5 years - It's so exciting.

We've booked our ceremony location and paid the deposit - We're getting married at the Holy Trinity Church - It's beautiful and a few relatives have previously been wed here and are still together after 20 years! Can't all be bad.

We've also booked the wedding breakfast and evening reception venue - a hotel/pub which isnt all that fancy but perfect for a good ole knees up. It's cost £1636 which includes:

  • 3 Course meal with coffee and mints for 56 people
  • 8 bottles of white chardonnay (1 on each table)
  • 8 bottles of chilled water (1 on each table)
  • Table decorations and linen (Just need to provide place cards/favours/camera's etc)
  • Evening buffet for 90 people
  • DJ and Karoke
  • Bridal Suite

I've also ordered my bridesmaid dresses from Littlewoods.co.uk - We're going for an ivory/gold/champagne colour scheme and these lovely simple summer dresses in the gorgeous champagne colour.

We've also booked and paid the depost for our photographers -

So thing left to do - Any help on good cheap options would be very much appreciated.

  • Find/Buy bouquet, bridesmaid posies and buttonholes
  • Find/Buy wedding dress - Have an appoint at Barnardo's 23rd May
  • Find/Buy wedding shoes
  • Find/Buy bridal underwear
  • Hire Groom's morning wear
  • Hire Bestman's morning wear
  • Male members of wedding party shirts and ties
  • Bridesmaid Shoes
  • Bridesmaid accessories
  • Bridal hair and make up
  • Order wedding cake
  • Find/Order wedding cake boxes
  • His and Hers wedding rings
  • Find/Make place cards
  • Find/Make menus cards
  • Favours (adult and children)
  • Transport for guests from church to reception venue
  • Thank you cards
  • Thank you gifts
  • Honeymoon - We're thinking of going to first choice of somewhere similiar and booking something last minute a week before the wedding date.

Smiley smile Sorry for the essay all - Any comments or help very much welcome!!!

All i will say is, dont book anything else yet. you have done the main things, which is fine, but i can assure you that your ideas on colour schemes etc will change. You have ages till the day, so sit back, get ideas from on here and in wedding magazines, and take things slowly.

    congrats by the way

Welcome to Hitched. Your wedding is 2 weeks after mine. There is a thread with a list of 2010 brides somewhere and I am sure you have some date twins.

    You sound very organised ?

I shall go and have a good look through this thread! Smiley smile It's lovely reading about other people's ideas and getting bits of advice here and there.

I know, i'm far too organised for my own good - I've stopped booking things or buying bits and bobs as soon i'll have nothing left to do. lol I'm sure lots of unexpected things will be pop up and i'll be kept very busy.

I wouldn't worry, there are many of us 2010 brides who have done more or about the same.

I have done about the same as you, no bridesmaid dresses, but have ordered mine. Have also started on stationery as I don't want it to become a chore, would rather sit down for 1 evening every month and make a few and enjoy it, than make everything in a week nearer the time.

I completely agree - Going for the little and often option is far better way of going about it. All the planning is stressful enough without leaving everything to the last minute.

You sound very organised to me. i get married a month earlier than you & I've barely got anything planned!. Are you going to the South Woodford Barnados with Tracey Purcell? She has so many dresses there & they're such good value, I tried 1 on the should have been £5,000 but I could've bought it for £500! Unfortunately I didn't find 'THE 1' then, but I'll go back another time to have another look. Beware of cameras crews though as I ended up being filmed for Sky News (was even shown in Australia!) Have fun, I was there for nearly 2 1/2 hours
