5 weeks to go and feeling stressed

Karen, 19 February, 2023 at 00:07 Posted on Etiquette and Advice 0 4
Anyone else getting close and losing it? Feel like I'm doing everything whilst trying to juggle a full time job and some part time stuff. Mother had a mini stroke last week. Thankfully she's okay. In all honesty that stressed by it all not looking forward to it. If guests hadn't already paid for accommodation would be tempted to cancel whole thing! Anyone else feeling the same?

Hi Karen, I remember being 16 in my first ever job and my boss was getting married and I remember her breaking down in work everyday for weeks and telling everybody that If someone ever proposes say no, it’s the most stressful thing ever, so i think it’s a mixture of nerves and excitement and not knowing what to expect. As I remember her having the best time planning it all. It takes up a large part of your life then next minute it’s all organized and then a waiting game. I know you said you are busy with work, but run yourself a nice bubble bath, knock off your phone, grab a glass of wine and forget about it all for a night. I’m glad your Mum is ok. Try and enjoy and soak it all in. x

Thanks! Just keep telling myself that this is the worst time. Once supplier's have been paid and last big decision taken I should be able to relax a bit more. Doesn't help having to remotely organise everything as I'm based in South west of England and wedding is in the Scottish Borders (Auchen Castle). Friday a good day. Conversation with brilliant florist, pics sent over WhatsApp whilst on phone, flowers sorted and due to a brilliant idea of theirs half the price I was expecting. So getting there!

I know auchen castle! Absolutely beautiful. It’s just the final stages and understandable why it is a stress. On the day you’ll wonder why you felt this way but it’s all part of it! Glad you had a good day. There is always a positive and even better if something is cheaper. Haha. X

I understand completely! I must be a few days after you because I’m just under 6 weeks away now. When I booked my wedding a year ago, I was in a job role that I’d been doing for years and could do standing on my head so figured it’d all be fine to take on planning the wedding, but then an amazing opportunity came along that I couldn’t turn down which is fantastic but means I now have a lot more responsibility. It’s made juggling with planning the wedding really challenging, especially seeing as I’ll be working right up until the day before. I am still looking forward to it, and I actually feel a lot better after meeting with my venue last week and asking some of the silly questions that I’d been stressing about, and they made me feel so much better.
