A teeny tiny wedding!

andreaburazor, 18 September, 2014 at 16:47 Posted on Planning 0 7

My fiance and I are looking to get married in or around London in April/May 2014. We are only having immediate family and close friends - so make that a max of about twenty people! Anybody else done a wedding as tiny as this? Any advice on venues? I'm stumped about what to do and where to book so that it feels a little more special than just a family dinner in a nice restaurant. Thanks guys and gals! Smiley smile

I don't know what your budget is, but a lot of posh restaurants in London have private dining rooms, or you may be able to book a small function room somewhere like a nice hotel. Ooh, or how about hiring a river cruise?

Some links below to start you off:

What kind of thing are you looking for, do you have any preference?

We shot a wedding earlier this year which had 12 guests for the ceremony in Greenwich- they then went onto Little Hallingbury Mill, which was perfect for their numbers. They were joined by approximately 10 more people for the reception, so around your numbers Smiley smile It's a gorgeous, quirky little venue alongside a canal. Definitely worth a look if you're looking for something a bit rustic and in the country(ish)

We are having 16 to the ceremony and an additional 8 in the evening, it's small, intimate and immediate family and our two best friends only. We wanted to mark our special day but not have the huge wedding so we're getting married (civil ceremony) and then it's a champagne afternoon tea followed by a BBQ! I can't wait. We're also doing it on a Thursday so it's drastically reduced our costs as there have been some amazing deals!

We're getting married in the new forest x

Do you have a preference for any part of London. There are is a whole range of venues that cater to smaller get togethers.
It also really depends on what you would like in regards to atmosphere and of course the type of food you really like, and admittedly budget.

If you could give us a better idea I am sure you will be swamped with some excellent venues and ideas.

https://www.hoxtongrill.com/ I have shot here and it has a range of rooms setup just like an apartment, so you can get together and dine with friends in the kitchen, library or dining room.

The Quilon ... Another venue I have had the opportunity to shoot. This is another excellent alternative, with excellent food and a room that you can hire for the evening with a chef creating the food a few steps away from you.

https://www.thelondesborough.com/ ... a little pub in Stoke Newington and really good food and brilliant pub atmosphere with a little outdoor area.

It really will depend on giving us a better idea of what will make the day all the more special for you.

The shard has private dining rooms in the restaurants. Defo special! And you could maybe do a trip to the top too for photos?

We have 11 guests so pretty small. But we're getting married at Gretna so sadly can't help on venues!

I think a lot of weddings are 20 people or under. I was chatting to the dj at one of the popular Yorkshire venues the other week. They do 300 weddings a year and 30 are 20 people or less.

Did you know you can book champagne drinks receptions in a capsule on the Millennium wheel thing?

Thanks for so many great suggestions guys and good to hear we're not alone in wanting something more intimate Smiley smile Probably wouldn't hurt to mention my family and friends are all coming from Australia, so maybe a place that also has rooms available would be great. I love the BBQ idea. Hmmm, my thoughts lean towards having a small ceremony followed by a wedding breakfast (that's just the post wedding meal right? We don't use the term in Australia!) with wedding cake and a live band. Possibly a casual BBQ the following day with all our guests. I'm considering no.4 hamilton place as a venue for ceremony and reception - does anyone know if that place is very pricy? Trying to keep costs as low as possible whilst still having somewhere lovely to celebrate Smiley smile Thanks again all!
