About a budget wedding

If you are on a budget, I would avoid 'wedding venues'. Look at getting married in a registry office or place of worship, as appropriate to your beliefs, and then hiring a community hall and caterer or a function room in a pub/restaurant for your reception. And don't be afraid to cut out anything you don't really want, e.g. favours, entertainment, bridesmaids, wedding car...Only pay for what you really want to have.

We've booked Willesborough Windmill in Ashford, Kent for this July 2023. The ceremony takes place ground floor of the windmill and the reception is in a small barn next to it. It holds a maximum of 50 guests seated. Hire of venue was £1k and catering was £27.95 pp for a 3 course meal. Different selection of meals including buffet if you prefer not to have sit down 3 course. With hire of registrar, photographer and including cake, flowers, hair, make-up, wedding dress, bridesmaids' dresses, accessories, own alcohol (no corkage), decorations etc., own speakers and lights with playlist our budget is under £9k. We could have done it for cheaper if I excluded certain items.
