Accommodation

Hi there, just after some advice. we have booked our wedding for 2025 and are just at the stage of sending invites out. our venue is in a barn and on the grounds are multiple cottages/cabins where guests can stay(up to 100), we have to book for 50 accommodation as part of the wedding . we want all our guests to stay with us on the grounds as its about a 3 hour drive from where we live. how do we word our accommodation invites to say we want all our guests too stay with us and they are required to pay x amount for 2 nights stay. Bear in mind the price is very reasonable for the quality of rooms and there aren't many hotels near the venue. Thanks

That's a tricky one, because you can't really insist that guests book in for two nights - or at least, you can, but you'll probably have a lot of people declining unless you move in very wealthy and leisured circles!

How many guests are you inviting in total? And how many are coming from a long way away? If you're having a very large wedding, then you might find enough people among your guests who would be happy to book two nights at the venue, but if you are having a guest list that's closer to the number of rooms you are required to book (e.g. you are inviting 70 and are required to have 50 people stay 2 nights), then I think you might struggle to fulfil all the bookings.

Presumably, you can find out now if your wedding party and immediate family are happy to stay over. I would look at the number of rooms 'left over' after they have been accommodated and how much it is going to cost you if you aren't able to fill them. You need to make sure that if not enough people decide to stay, you are not left footing a hefty bill you can't afford.

As for wording, I would tell people that you would love as many as possible to stay the night before and after, and that you have been able to reserve a number of rooms at a cost of £x for the two nights. Provide details on how they can book and leave it at that.
