accommodation in upwaltham, east sussex?

fox-in-socks, 12 July, 2008 at 17:44 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

Does anyone know this area? we are going to a wedding and need to book accommodation, i have a list of LOADS of hotels/B&Bs provided by the super-organised bride but would like a personal rec if possible.

prefer to avoid the big chains, we like boutique-y type places best. budget up to about £130 a night.

thanks lovely hitchers ?

I live in East Sussex but I've never even heard of the place! boutique-y is thin on the ground round here, limited to bigger towns like Rye. I will have a look as to where this place is!!

It's West Sussex you wally, near Chichester. If that helps anyone who lives that way! I'm sure you'll find something nearby, Chichester etc is quite posh so there is bound to be something half decent.

I assume the wedding is at Upwaltham Barns, in which case there is nothing very close - you are looking at Petworth or Chichester. Just North of Petworth is the Mulberry which is one of Chris Evans pubs. It is lovely and boutiquey.

In Chichester there is Trents, it will be fairly noisy until closing time as the rooms are above the bar but they are lovely.

I got married at Upwaltham Barns and there are quite a few nice places nearby but you either have to book a cab in advance or have one of you driving as none of them are walkable. Most of our guests stayed in one of these:
