My sister and I still quote this ad a fair bit - the catch phrase "you don't say!" has really stuck with us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpswiH_Vkes Any ads that have stuck with you?

I know! How annoying is that? Maybe Trading Standards now believe it will spoil your appetite? ?

The gas one reminds me of another jingle. [sings] "Cook, cook, cook, cookability. That's the beauty of gas"...

Tell 'em about the honey, mummy.

I also always do the sticking thumb in the air when at work (chef) and need a lighter- the youngsters in the kitchen have NO clue what I am on about. [wail] ?

In a former life, I was an auctioneer, selling goods from Costco- including electricals- so "Alright Tosh, got a Toshiba" was part of my repertoire every Saturday. Cringe.

Another lover of Accrington Stanley, too.

Loads more, but I can't think right now- when I was wee I enjoyed the adverts more than the actual shows.

Some of these have really brought back memories.

One that sticks in my mind was the 'Tangoed!' advert - the one that was banned.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHxgc24ZSyE

We even had it mentioned in assembly because kids were going around slapping each other.

I'm sure these will have been mentioned but I love:

"It's in the sand" - AA Advert

All the old Yellow pages ads (JR Hartley and the kid that has a party and needs to find a French Polisher)

Loved the Gold Blend Ads, such great stories

"Daddy or chips" (we say this all the time when trying to choose what you want)

The Kit Kat ad with the dancing Panda. I recall it being the must see ad of the time before the days of YouTube when you could see it on demand.

    (can't remember the first bit)

And the Ready Brek ad where the boy has an orange line round him.

and Pacers - "Stripes?!" and then three beeps as three green lines appear on their tennis shirts (my sister and I always say this one).

As Imelda says, the AA ad - I quite often say "I'm not really helping am I?", shortly followed by "it's in the saaaaaand"

I also quite often sing "make room for the mushrooooooooooms" but I can't find a YouTube vid for it. Maybe I dreamt it? ?

I think that idea's been used fairly recently for Ready Brek. (Of course, I'm one of the fogeys old enough to remember it from the first time round !)

I remember a line from an advert years ago but have no idea what it was advertising. Anyone know what it was for?

"I feel like a new woman, Arthur says he does too". Woman and Arthur were on a pebble beach. Think Arthur was sporting a hanky knotted over his head.

Randomly, I find catfood commercials quite memorable...

    There's the 'Meow Mix' special..

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPthFoOui7M

    And my favourite, Kattomeat VIP

Raymond Blanc's oven ad: "Tres bon, Raymond". My sister and I still quote that one; "Eet as a dubbul uven"

I think my favourite is Daddy or chips though.

@Chicken - That was HP sauce.

I remember an advert that was only screened in cinemas and was for hotdogs, it featured a couple in a carpet shop and the woman saying "But I don't want a carpet I want a hotdog" never met anyone other than the person I was with that has seen it

I am also strangely scarred by the Original Naturally Juicy advert, I think it's the octopus that does it
