Advice needed on gypsophila (babys breathe)

SRECOWBURN, 13 March, 2015 at 12:35 Posted on Planning 0 13

HELP.....

So I’m just in the process of booking my florist.
I am pretty set of having gypsophila bouquets for my bridesmaids and in mine as well as the flower girls halos. It is so delicate and reminds me of my late Grandma , however I bought some the other day do trial my centrepieces and it smells awful!I just had 1 small bunch on the table and it made my house smell like my dog had has an accident, she hadn’t as I checked everywhere and it was the flowers. I’m really worried it is going to make my venue smell. It was only picked up from a super market so maybe not the best quality but still.
Has anybody else used Gyp as a main feature in there flowers and had any smell issues? If so how did you resolve it?
I really do have my heart set on using Gyp but I guess also have my heart set on my venue not smelling like a number 1.
Please help.

Thank you

xx

I knew I read this recently on another thread. OTR says that wedding gyp isn't the same as shop gyp so should smell. Attached the link below.

    Hope this helps!

? That's right LOL! Wedding gyp is best grade (or should be) Gyp comes in different grades so if you order from the florist wholesaler, always ask for best grade gyp. It tends to be fluffier too.

Have you consider buying artifical gyp? My bridesmaid are having gyp and freesias as their bouquets and we are having them all artificial!

Sorry I don't know why it didn't work, if you scroll back a couple of days there's a thread titled about baby's breath. Although it's really all been covered above by everyone.

I only had gyp for mine and my bridesmaid bouquets, and the buttonholes. Me and my mum also used gyp in the table decorations which we bought from a wholesaler - the bouquets and buttonholes I bought from a florist. I didn't have this problem with any of it, it didn't smell nasty at all - and there was quite a lot of it dotted around
