Advice on what to buy in the early stages?!

Gracef, 18 April, 2022 at 20:36 Posted on Planning 1 5
Hi all,

We’re getting married in June 2023 - we have booked and paid deposits on all the big stuff like venue, decor, photographer etc and have organised our money over the next year in terms of paying everything off. Most of this is in the months leading up to the wedding so will be bleeding us dry.
Just wondering if anyone has any advice on what I should be buying now to take the pressure off next year?! What have you bought for your wedding so far/when you were a year out, little bits and bobs to be saved for the big day? For example I’m thinking it is too early to be buying confetti and bits like this - but it will be something I could do without when we are paying all the big items off.
Any advice on things that you’ve bought for your wedding which I might not have thought of?
Hope this makes sense x

    Hi & congratulations 🥳

We have done similar & worked around paying for all the big stuff & budgeted for that etc, what we have done was worked out what else was needed & spent xx amount each month to cover it for example We are suppling a coach for our guests from a hotel to wedding venue so we are giving each guest on the coach a pack lunch bag & a small hangover bag ….both totally not really needed but we have a few traveling to England to celebrate with us so we want to show our appreciation. Also stamps for posting invites etc, any small wedding decorations t lights, lights for glass bottles etc, I’m sure you get the picture now but all these little things add up & was easier for us to do monthly, glow sticks for disco ….have fun xx

Wow you are so organised. I’ve got all the same big stuff sorted as you but not my dress yet - I’m going at the end of May. I’ve got a spreadsheet too, I was just finding it hard to think of the small things because it feels so early to be doing these things. Thank you for all the suggestions 😊 x

Very interested in this thread - July 2023 bride!

It's definitely hard to find the line between wanting to spread out the jobs/costs and the fear of ideas changing and things being out of their return window... for that reason anything that I don't need to buy now I'm only buying if I feel confident that I absolutely love it.

September '23 here, but also planning as much as I can in advance! So much has happened over the last couple of years that I need something fun to concentrate on. I'm hoping my tastes and ideas don't change too much over the next 17 months - I'm sure it'll be fine! Smiley winking

I’m getting married in April 2023. I’m trying to get as much in place now and then I can just spread cost over the year by buying things in advance or specifically putting money aside I know will be needed later.
