Advice on where to start with floral decor

Zoe, 29 March, 2022 at 20:50 Posted on Planning 0 3
I’m not sure where to start with decor.
I’ve found a good website for the signage for the day so I think that’s covered but I don’t know where to start with floral decorations. I’m thinking about having flowers and candles down the aisle, as well as centrepieces and flowers around the venue.

Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on whether I should start looking at artificial flowers (and from where?) or whether we should have a discussion with a florist first.
I’m not a very ‘flowers person’ so not sure how this side of the decor would work. Of course we would have real flowers for the bouquets and button holes but I have no strong preference about the decor.
Our wedding isn’t until August 2023 but I like to be very organised and have a clear plan and picture in my head.
Any advice is appreciated!

I would contact a florist as a lot of them can do all the stuff you are thinking about and not just real flowers. For example my florist will hire out lanterns for the aisle and then they will be used on the tables as centrepieces with foliage around them. We are also getting the florist to use fake foliage and flowers on the balcony as this is much cheaper and a bit better for the environment.
A proper florist will be able to tell you if they can provide these things and if not then ask for other recommendations while you are at it! A florist was recommended by the venue but in the end we went elsewhere as found a cheaper supplier.
You can always message a few florists to give tough quotes on your ideas. No harm in that.
