All Hail the Veil

DreamcatcherVN, 11 of January of 2016 at 20:25 Posted on Planning 0 19

Hi! Did anyone catch this on E4... What are your thoughts? I thought the "cheaper" dresses were the nicer ones! It's got me excited to go dress shopping on Saturday:-D. My budget won't be close to the girl on the show though lol! I wasn't keen on her final choice but she looked lovely with it all put together

Thankyou thankyou! I have just hunted through my planner for something I saw advertised, looked like the British version of Say Yes to the Dress. I could not remember when or what channel and then popped on here to ask!

    Off to look! x

Watched it with h2b. We both preferred the cheaper dress and thought it was really flattering!

Thought the mum was a right cow and the sisters weren't taking into account how the bride looked and felt!

Ooooo I need to watch this - not sure how H2B will react to more wedding programmes on the planner - I swear about 40% is taken up by Say yes to the dress - oops!

Just watched this, the mother was just horrid! As soon as she heard "outlet" she was determined not to like anything!

Just watched it... it makes you wonder 'do these people know how they look?' not the bride but the mother, her stinking attitude and snobbish behavior was an embarrassment and its on national telly ?

I feel like the poor bride was cornered by her mother and ended up with the dress no one except the mother liked, she will regret it later and seriously that skirt was so ridged and stiff it looked like a toilet roll barbie and the material was exactly the same as out 90's damask curtains only in baking foil silver ?

this is why i'm paying for my own wedding, if family want to offer help they can but if the start to dictate their offer will just be returned to them and their demands disgarded

I thought it was a dreadful version of say yes to the dress! I love that show because they make the brides feel good, those two posh women from wherever were dreadful, I'd never buy a dress from someone like that!

Your all right though, 5k on a dress is nuts! I'd want to wear it everyday for a decade for that price! I thought she looked pretty and very different.

ive not been dress shopping yet, I dread the idea!!!

Don't dread it - it much better than they made it look! Just make sure to find a good shop and be confident enough to hold your ground if they are rude or pushy.

Remember it's your wedding and you don't need that kind of negativity in your life! Also, wear comfy undies that you don't mind being seen Smiley smile

Just watched episode two, the passive aggressive comments from the two high end shops have driven me insane! They automatically decided that the "Essex Girl" wasn't good enough for them, whereas they were falling all over the woman with the £5000 budget!

Wonder if the actually think showing that they are stuck up, cow faced bi*ches on TV will get the more business... even if I had a high budget id avoid them like the plague lol

I agree, I wouldn't go to them either! Reminded me of pretty woman lol. I didn't catch the 2nd episode but watched the 3rd, it annoyed me as you could see that they were silently judging her "ice princess" theme. I hope my experience on Saturday won't be like that!

I'm not sure I can stand another episode! You would think they would be a bit more gracious if the bride chooses another shops dress. They aren't doing themselves any favours and I can't see this being good for their business!

So glad the high end shop haven't sold a dress yet those women are horrible, although I don't think any of the shop owners are particullarly nice and some of the comments are really rude. (don't they realise the brides are going to see this show!). I liked the dress the girl picked on the latest episode but it's very thin for a Lapland wedding!

There were only 3 episodes, which was a bit disappointing I thought!

I really didn't like the snobby ladies - I don't think they've done themselves any favours. They didn't pick ANY good dresses for any of the Brides IMO.

I've just lost half of my child free time watching all 3 episodes on 4's catch up. I know they probably have to make themselves look 'better' for the programme to work, but I can't believe how catty all of the shop owners were. I'd be so upset if I was a bride on there and I heard half the comments about me or my family/friends.

I watched all 3 episodes, cringing all the way!

As a wedding boutique who specialise in gowns for luscious ladies of larger proportions this series enveloped all the negatives that brides to be expect from a boutique! High prices, snobby staff, opinionated mothers (and bridesmaids) and staff who really dont listen to their customers!

The high end boutique..... (ok yah!!, with their absolutely yummy gowns).... made ME feel inadequate, the outlet (who everybody thinks would be cheaper) still had dresses that were actually higher prices than many in my boutique and the dresses from the 3rd boutique were very fashion forward so a very small audience.

Please please ladies dont think we are all like ANY of these shops :-(

Yes it was awful! I have to say, NONE of my shopping experiences were anything like any of those peoples shops. I don't think I would buy from any of them!
