Alternative Bridal Styles

Lauren, 5 September, 2024 at 21:43 Posted on Wedding Attire 0 2
Hi all,

I am getting married in Summer 2025 and am hoping to find an alternative style to the traditional white Wedding dress.
Initially I was looking for a coloured bridal suit but as I plan on changing for the evening, I am now looking at printed or embroidered dresses or co-ord sets.
I am have been recommended vintage clothing companies which is one route to look in to further but when it comes to bridal boutiques in London/Hertfordshire I am having trouble finding anywhere.
I would love to have an in store experience however I am wondering if I will have more luck online (Needle and Thread dresses are beautiful!) or should try customising a dress to make something unique.
My bouquet will be various colours and I will either have flowers in my hair to compliment my outfit or I'm considering a veil but with some embellishments and then a monochrome outfit.
Another option could be wearing a dress with a coloured underskirt.
Any suggestions would be appreciated please, especially as I have less than a year to go!

Have you considered Fairy Goth Mother? They specialise in tea length and alt bridal and based in London Smiley smile alternatively have you considered having something tailor made? I am also an alt bride and really struggled to find something that was what I was envisioning. I ended up designing my dress myself and am working with a local boutique to bring it to life - they have taken my design and sourced suitable fabrics and are making it for me, with my first fitting in October 2024 for a November 2025 wedding (so it is a longer process, but getting exactly what I want). Cost wise is still coming in cheaper than getting something at a traditional bridal shop and having to pay for significant customisation and sizing alterations. Hope this helps!

I went to an alternative wedding dress shop that supported all sizes & the LGBTQ+ community it was a layered dress bohemian style, it was a
Slip dress which was a blush/dusky pink and then the over dress was peach with white lace embroidery…
It had a very small train & I got it cut off and made slightly shorter so I can wear it again…Went for a relaxed look, I felt amazing in it but comfortable xAlternative Bridal Styles 1
