Alternative to fireworks?!

There are some venues that I work with that use "quiet fireworks" - they do a display without any loud bangs that can upset the neighbours. I wonder if the neighbour issue is the reason for your venue no longer allowing them or if they have heard of quiet ones, perhaps worth an ask. They still look good - here is a photo from one of my weddings that had them.

Sorry- worth a try. I have never come across a laser show im afraid. Have you asked if they are ok with one as I would of thought a laser show may disturb as much as quiet fireworks.
